Chapter 4 THREAT

Descending the snow capped mountains in low spirits, Zeyn felt frustrated that he wanted to shave his head bald. Heaving a heavy sigh to suppress the irritation he felt now, he looked up to the clear blue sky with jumbled feelings, the sun was still up but only for a short while as it turned heading towards the western horizon where the moonlight lake was located.

Taking a deep breath, the scenery before his eyes was indeed beautiful as Xafir had exaggerated, the setting sun, the dark orange reflection on the lake waters, almost fading full moon and the bustling city just at the foot of the Corun mountains.....it was so breathtaking. The cold breeze gently swept his jet black hair across his face and his deep blue eyes scanned the area. He proceeded walking through the barrier and went through the dense lash forest that covered half of the Corun mountains.

He was drowned too deeply to realise that a group of creatures from the shadows in the forest kept following him at a safe distance but kept monitoring him. Their body outline was deformed with horns as the only noticeable thing on them.

"You sure he's the oneeee?" one of the shadows asked with a hissing voice.

"Yessssss!" the other said with confirmation. It was slightly behind a foot away from the first creature.

"We can't let him deter from our original plans, he'll be of great help in the future." The leader creature said.

"Yessssss. Oursssss!!!" the others behind him hissed and their slim forked tongues slipped through their lips.

"Don't let him know your existence. I'm sure he'll get attached with something after all this is the devil's lare."The leader's expression was grim. If they have him on their side, then they'll regain their old glory and won't have to live in hidding. At that time, the earth will be theirs again!!

The creatures dispitated from the area.

Zeyn walked back to the city and was able to track down the place Xafir had manage to get them. This guy with luxuries!!He had bought a mansion.

"Why spend so much?" he asked lazily when he found Xafir directing the young men to place the new house ware where he wanted them.

"You don't expect me to live my life ordinarily when I have enough wealth to spare and help these pitiful creatures." Xafir was as arrogant as always.

"Fine, fine." Zeyn didn't want his peace to be disturbed by his brothers unending rumbles.

"What did you paint?" Xafir asked heading to the garden with Zeyn in tow.

"You." Came his curt reply.

"Jerk!!" Cursed Xafir.

"Thank you." Zeyn smiled, he loved it when Xafir got angry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Opening his deep blue eyes, Zeyn drew in a sharp breathe. The memories from the past were at him again but he needed to eradicate them before they made him unstable. Slowly, he rose from his bed and looked at the rising sun from through his window. He gracefully strode out of his room and descended the staircase to the ground floor and silently went on to prepare beakfast.
"Your up early?!" Came Xafir's voice.
"You don't want me in bed." Zeyn didn't know what this guy truly wanted.If he did what he wanted, he'd still complain about it....actually whine about it. Guess he really didn't change.
"Where would you like to go today?" Xafir went to help in preparing their breakfast but Zeyn was more or less done.
"I'll stroll around in the capital for a while." Zeyn was bored with Xafir's babysitting.
"Okay, I hope you know your way around!" He stode to the table with his break fast in hand.
"Am not a baby Xafir!!" Zeyn rolled his eyes and groaned in annoyance.
"The structure of the city was changed after your rampage and you should make sure no one knows it's you. Your existence screams destruction" He seriously reminded him. If others saw him, they were bound to make a mountain out of it.
"Such a sweet compliment friend, how about we go sparring. We can remind ourselves of that rampage." Zeyn joked.
"No thank you!" Xafir exclaimed, he didn't want to be beaten up.
"I'll be gentle." Zeyn coaxed Xafir. He only dived into his breakfast and ignored Zeyn but after a few moments of silence he said,"Tomorrow, we can head to the desert and let off some steam." Perhaps he too needed this sparring.
"Why not today??" Zeyn was too excited. He needed to beat this creature to pulp for locking him up all these years. Who said Zeyn let's his grudge pass?
A creak of the door interrupted their conversation drawing their attention to the door from the dinning area and in came a young lady. She was dressed in a white dress with dark green small flowers embroidered at her chest area in a bird form, her blue hair and lime green eyes enhanced her innocent beauty even the more. She hadn't noticed that the male creatures were looking at her as she tiptoed nimbly to the sitting room, her tiny hands hugging a huge box that looked heavy. She put the gift box on the table silently and tried to sneak out the way she tried to sneak in. 'Ohhhh, how could she escape the hawk eyes of the two legendary male creatures in the room!!!"
"Sola.", a sweet voice jolted her out from her failed attempts to leave sneakily that she froze. Her shocked expression looked so cute that Xafir wanted to pinch her cheeks. He stood up from his seat and approached the scaredy kitten who had turned stiff.
"Good morning."
"Your up already?" she stuttered.
"Mmmm, didn't know you'd drop by." he was glad though that she came.
"Hello sister in law!" beamed Zeyn. Sola's eyes widened even further in shock when she noticed her mate's sworn brother's presence.
"Come, I'll introduce you to my best friend and brother." He dragged her to the dinning area.
"Don't worry I won't bite." Zeyn grinned.
Interlocking his fingers with her's, Xafir pulled the unwilling lady to the dinning area and secured a seat for her. "Be good and sit, I get you beakfast." He was happy that the two most important people of his life were finally meeting but he also knew that his little mate was terrified of his only family..... Zeyn.
Being left alone at the dinning area with Zeyn, Sola found herself drowning in cold sweat yet the person she was terrified of was actually smiling at her. She gulped a ball of saliva and it almost chocked her to death when her eyes unceremoniously met with the legendary Zeyn's blue eyes.
Before things got any worse, Xafir walked back with her meal and placed it before her only to see her sweating, he couldn't help but glare at Zeyn who stiffled a laugh. 'Aahhhhh, this was too much fun.' he mused to himself.
Constantly checking on what Sola thought of the meal, Xafir forgot to eat his. "You should east as well, I can manage." she told him with a meek voice.
"Okay."
Zeyn only stared at Xafir with amusement sparkling in his deep blue eyes, he was happy for him, to see that he too finally found someone to spend the rest of his life with.
"Sola???" Zeyn asked.
The little lady looked up from her meal to the blue eyes that called to her. Groaning in annoyance, "Zeyn, let her finish her meal, will you?!"
"Ahhh sorry. Will do." and he shut up.
"Don't mind him, just enjoy your break fast." And the breakfast went on in silence as Zeyn was fed 'dog food' by his sworn brother. The lovers before him were in their own bubble world and it made him grimance. 'I'll continue to scare the life out of your mate. I have to get back at you.' he thought. Not being able to swallow more dog food, Zeyn cleared his throat to gain the couple's attention. "Sola, how long have you known Xafir?"
"I met him a century ago." she dared not lie.
"Ahhh....but your not living with him, why?" He knew there was no way she wouldn't reply to his questions. I mean who dared to oppose him.
"I....I"
"Zeyn stop it!" Xafir was getting agitated, he could feel his mates uneasiness but before things could escalate, she gave his hand a small squeeze to calm him and nodded to assure him.
"I've been living here." Her head dipped further down.
"Ehhh, why are you not living here then?!"
Unconsciously, she turned to look at her mate.
Zeyn felt the tension grow the more and tried to ease it, "then I should hope to see my nephews and nieces soon right!!" He gave a boyish grin only to have the Sola blushed so hard that her face burned like a ripe tomato.
'She's so cute!!!!!' Xafir almost pinched her cheeks only to put his big palms to her tiny face and draw her attention back to her meal. The couple again ignored him.
"You can move back, I won't be staying long and besides, I want to spend more time with my sister in law." He said seriously.
They were taken aback by his words. Sola nodded to agree to what he said. Wipping his lips, he stood up and strolled back to his room to prepare for his tour.
"He doesn't seem bad." whispered Sola.
Xafir chuckled in amusement. "Said the little female that was drowning in her own sweat."
"Hhmpp", Sola pouted in annoyance. "Mock me and I'll go back home."
Xafir's eyes widened in disbelief. "Oh no.... you won't do that!!"
"I will." she said firmly.
"I'll tell Zeyn then."
"You dare!! Xafir, am starting to not like you anymore."
Xafir shut up that instant as if he never existed in the first place, he might be formidable but before his mate, he was a good puppy. But of course she didn't need to know that. That was a males' thing. As they continued their small talk to catch up from where they had left off.
Zeyn came down the staircase and the whole room turned cold, it grew tense on the aura he was emitting. Clad in a black pants, a white shirt with jet black silk robe that touched the floor in pools having a hood that he could use to cover himself. His hair colour had changed to silver, his eyes pitch black and when Sola and Xafir saw this, they had to rub their eyes to make sure they weren't hallucinating.
'He'd just gone up to change, what has triggered him now??!!!'
Xafir was forced to put himself before Sola so that she wouldn't see his brother like that. Leaving the staircase, Zeyn walked towards Xafir with a grim expression and only stopped four feet from him. "I'm going out." he declared.
"Zeyn, calm down! You can't go out like that."
"You want me to stay? After what am capable of doing?" Zeyn warned nonchantly.
Tilting his head, he peeped over Xafir's shoulder and grinned at Sola. "Sorry, I have to go now, won't be able to bond well sister in law. Maybe next time." he gave his word.
"Zeyn you can't do this!" Xafir was on alert mode.
"You plan on chaining me again?!" Zeyn raised his eyebrows at Xafir and his black eyes shone with mischief and madness.
"Sola go home!!" Xafir's voice was laced with worry and edgy, he couldn't help feeling worried if Zeyn lost himself right now and she was in the vicinity. The damage from their clash would definitely end her.
Xafir stood before Zeyn like a towering mountain preventing him from taking a step towards the door. Right now, Zeyn was a THREAT!! And as a guardian, he had to do what ever was possible to prevent it.
