Xafir had withdrawn about twenty feet back whilst shielding Sola behind him, he was tense not because he wouldn't defeat Zeyn but because his mate was there.
"Sola leave!" his voice was still low but grim and it sounded edgy. A frown murred between his brows and muscles budged on his forehead showing how tense he was but his sharp gaze kept at Zeyn incase of any movement. Sola held onto Xafir's steady iron like arm with terror almost digging her nails in his flesh through his long sleeves and her lime green eyes wide open though she would have preferred to shut them. Zeyn was so scary.
Zeyn took the first chance to attack and Xafir was forced to throw off Sola with the least force he could use across to the white leather sofa where she bounced once and settled in a sitting position. Xafir shielded her with his barrier energy which emitted an orange hue around her and charged forward at a neck breaking speed leaving behind the orange hue as residue from his outburst that after images of orange and silver flashes could be seen, but before they'd clash and hurt Sola who had frozen at the sight of Zeyn that she turned pale, Xafir teleported them to the Najin desert. It was also called the portal desert.
Xafir's orange eyes shone in flames, he had to restrain his friend at all costs even if it meant killing him all over again till he gave up. At a distance from each other, they preyed at one another and took stealith steps as they rounded themselves.
"Zeyn, you don't have to do this, you have just returned home after thousands of years." Xafir tried to reason with him but it seemed hopeless. "Please don't make me do this." he pleaded.
"It'd never have escalated to this if you hadn't over stepped your boundaries, Xafir. What makes you think I should follow you and do your bidding?" He asked threateningly, his voice booming through the vast desert. The sky had turned dark and vicious sand storms had started erupting in whrils with lightening touching the skyline. His silver hairs shone the more as they swayed against the wind and he continued to inspect Xafir with his black eyes.
Knowing Zeyn, he continued to reason with him. "I'm a guardian and my purpose is to prevent any threat from escalating."
"Any threat? Am a threat?!" Zeyn growled.
"Yes." Xafir was firm on his stand. It was a bitter truth for him.
"You've changed Xafir." Zeyn bitterly chuckled.
"So have you." Xafir murmured.
"Is it because of that mate of yours? Should I take her from you!" Zeyn provoked.
"You dare!! Xafir roared furociously as he trembled violently his sanity hanging on a thin thread. Sola would leave him if he became like Zeyn. It was the first time losing his cool and that before his brother.
Zeyn smirked evilly, "You are weak." He spat. "I could go on another rampage and destroy everything and never let you chain me up. Then I'll disappear and wait for you to rebuild everything and destroy it all over again till the end of time."
Recalling the first apocalypse, Xafir turned slightly pale. Indeed Zeyn had given in to Xafir's pleas and let him chain him up. Not because he was able to do it without the other party's consent. Though he hated the fact that he was among the council that devised means to weaken him and end him but they failed to kill him but he killed many of them, blood shed, the unending darkness, the wails of the weak and innocent dead bodies sprawled all over as a result of his rampage. This was his darkness, it consumed him everyday till today, till the moment he looked into those deep blue eyes again. That day in the cave, his bony looking body, his dull eyes, the pale and ashen skin, his shredded clothes, those ughly scars, the dirty and smelly dungeon....his heart raced and the hilt he had practiced to overcome erupted
Xafir fell to his knees, "Am sorry Xafir." he chocked "I know nothing can change whatever happened in the past and it was my fault. I failed you but please, I'm begging you for our long brotherhood...not again, I can't take the burden anymore. Let's...let's get back like before. Tears begun to fall as he looked into Zeyn's black eyes "I.....I miss you so bad that my soul churnes in pain and misery at those images. I was never proud of myself for what I did. I was supposed to stand by you and fight for you not against you. I understand, I'm willing to receive any punishment from you but not the rampage." His eyes were already filled with tears, the pent up guilt emotions. He was hurt for having betrayed his friend but was also desperate to start over again and also be with his mate. Though their kind never appreciated the weak, Xafir had to show Zeyn his real fears and pain, maybe.....just maybe. He knew he was despicable and shouldn't seek forgiveness but.....
Back in the capital, Sola had rushed to inform the chiefs, she didn't want to loose Xafir.
The sky of the desert that had turned dark that one would think it was night lightly changed as the dark clouds begun to disperse and let the sun peek through. The sand storms that were ragging beside Zeyn died down but his silver hair and black eyes didn't change back to their original colour, his devil was still awake.
"I don't want you to become like me, so I'll go away from you. He gritted his teeth. "I forgive you but am still so angry for the reasons you know best. I'll come see you if..." He chose not to give Xafir any hope so he turned and walked away into a portal which he knew not where it led but knew he had to go through that portal and once his silhouette disappeared, so did the portal and Xafir remained there on his knees not knowing where his brother had disappeared to.
The warrior guards along with chiefs from different regions just happened to appear as well prepared for another battle only to find Xafir on his knees, his hands lifeless on his thighs.
Sola had come with them after informing them of the Zeyn's condition. Though at first they refused to believe him, when they saw the change in the weather, they immediately mobilised their army in hope of not encountering any war. When she saw Xafir's state, she rushed towards him but was held back by her brother who had come along. She was forced to hurt him with her power so that he'd let her go and she rushed to Xafir's side enveloping him in a tight hug. Xafir who had not yet even noticed their presence as he was drowning in his guilt conscience felt a sweet scent that hit him hard and brought him back, it was his mate. His eyes that had paled shone bright again when he finally found what to hold on. Only he knew what he had had to endure all these years and silently, he let his emotions show, tears continued to fall drop after drop. Though he didn't make a sound and only hugged her back, one could tell what he was doing when they saw his shoulders shake. They stayed like that till he gathered himself together, Sola's white dress had a huge patch from the big guys tears. Needing some privacy, his orange hue built an shield and he drew back from her hug.
"I'm sorry." he felt ashamed.
"I understand. Cry more if you want." Sola rubbed his firm arm lovingly.
"No, I have nothing left of them anymore." he blushed.

Present day....Modern era
'I have known in my life that I should keep striving and hope for a better tomorrow'
A young lady in a pair of tight blue jeans, a white crop top, hair tied into a messy bun stood at the Zebra crossing lost in thoughts. These past days, she happened to space out almost everytime as though she was awaiting for something.....or someone? She didn't know, it was a restless feeling. The green light lit and she crossed over and find a better place to space out. Tiredly, she walked home to a medium sized bangalow which was a gift from her big brother after finishing college and decided to move out. It was painted in a gray color with white outlines. It had three bedrooms, a kitchen, dinning room, laundry area, her painting room and music room with an attic and basement. Scanning her palm on the scanner, she entered in and walked to the kitchen area. She took a glass of water from the fridge and gulped it in one go. "Ahhhhhh, cool and refreshing." she voiced her thoughts out loud. Walking out of the kitchen to head to her bedroom, a bloody memory flashed in her memory making her scream her lungs out, she paled and was.covered in cold sweat convulsing uncontrollably, it was like she was there watching whatever the grotesque scenes happen before her. Her head throbbed in a splitting headache which made her pass out.
