Her eyes met his. He held her hand and even though they had so much fun together and great times, the moment arrived where they needed to say goodbye. Saying goodbye is not easy. Especially when you become attached to that other person. You know that if you'd actually like that person, things could get complicated. Really complicated. There would also be the fear that you'd meet up this person after so many years in which you did not see each other, look at them, saw a beautiful picture, yet no emotions would arise. And, for some reason no matter what you would have chosen would not be a smart decision. Because no matter what you choose, you can't win.
"Hey, don't be sad! We'll keep in touch, we'll write to each other on the internet and still talk. We are stronger than this!" he held her face between his palms, as tears ran down her cheeks. "Okay," she whispered with her voice shaking. "I hate the fact that we found each other, like each other and now I have to let you go! I hate goodbyes!" He sighed and hugged her and pressed her against himself. "I know, it sucks!"
Minutes later she smiled and looked at him: "But look at us? Who would've thought we would meet and enjoy our time together? Incredibly, we got to meet up with this person after so many years apart!"
The rest of the day they spent kissing, hugging, and enjoying each other's presence as they could, while they still could. "Would you rather choose a long, unhappy life or a short, happy life if you had to choose?" he asked her, as she rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "I guess a short and happy one. How about you?" "Same," he replied. After another minute of contemplation and glancing around in the mall, where people would go up and down and hurry God knows where Johanna loudly asked: "Wait! Why not choose both long and happy life?!"
There I was looking one last time in his direction before leaving again. One moment ago he hugged me tightly, told me everything would be alright and we promised each other we would call and text regularly and continue our relationship, which would become a long-distance relationship. Some say love is so strong and the greatest energy there is out there. So big it could overcome anything. Any obstacle, any issue. Is it though?
Some other people claim love is enough to make you happy. If you have love according to them, you have everything. Is it though? One thing was for sure though: meeting Josh face to face and spending time with him made Johanna very happy.

Johanna just returned from university and heard her phone beeping. She received a notification! Josh must have thought of her and probably sent a sweet text or at least that's what she thought.
She eagerly unlocked her phone and stared at it with a wide grin: "Sorry, Johanna. I can't do this. Going long-distance is killing me. I want to break up." Johanna's grin disappeared and was replaced by tears. He was also online on Facebook. She started a conversation with him:
Johanna: "Hey, I just saw your message."
Josh: "Ok, what do you think?"
Johanna: "As beautiful our moments together were, I can't move to Canada at a later point for someone who does not know what he wants. I think we should end whatever we have for good. Goodnight, Josh"
Johanna ended the chat, wiped her tears away, realized she made a fool out of herself as it likely was daytime in Canada due to the hour difference, and read a book, and then did some of the homework and projects assigned by her university.
"What's wrong? You seem off!" her sister asked her when passing by. "Nothing's wrong. Everything is the way it is supposed to be!" she sighed, put her novel aside and took her glasses off, then changed her clothes and dressed up in her pink unicorn pajamas. "Did that Josh guy break your heart? If the answer is yes, I am going to kick his ass." Johanna sighed: "I don't know if there's anything left to be broken! I'd rather not talk about it!"

The next day at university went by very slowly. "I'm single from now on," Johanna thought to herself. "Being single is not the end of the world, right? There are so many opportunities to seize. I would not have had the chance to explore if I was in a relationship now." then sighed and felt a wave of sadness wash over her. But he was there and she was here and a long-distance relationship would have been complicated. It was better to forget about it.
When she arrived home, her phone beeped. Johanna glanced at it curiously: It was a message from Josh: "I made a terrible mistake. Can we please talk? It's urgent." Johanna quickly ate something, then messaged him on the messenger:
Johann: "You made your decision. What's there to talk about?"
Josh: "I did a terrible mistake. I should not have dumped you. I thought this was going to be easier without you and all the issues of a long-distance relationship, but I realized I was wrong. Could you please give me a second shot?"
Johanna: "I don't understand. What changed?"
Josh: "I realized only after losing you how much I love you and how important you are to me. I took you for granted. I am sorry! L "
Johanna: "Are you sure you want to have a long distance-relationship? It would make me happy, but I am not sure about you..."
Josh: "I want this. I could not sleep the entire night thinking I may have lost you forever!"
Johanna: "Ok, let's try a long distance relationship and see how it goes."
Josh: "Yay! I am grateful you give me another chance! I know I can be quite a bit to handle sometimes. Hug!"
Johanna: "Hug!"
Josh: "I am going to sleep now. I'm so tired and I still have a lot of studying I should have done by yesterday!"
Johanna: "Goodnight. I'm sorry you could not sleep because of me. L"
Josh: "Nah, it's ok. It's a good thing we patched stuff up and we're good. Hug J"
Johanna: "Hug"
