World Beyond

Lauren swiftly slipped the huge amulet out of her neck and threw it to the ground, then, with a speed she never dreamed to have, dashed into the woods.

Lauren had kept running, her hair was being blown back by the wind, her feet was sore from the longest hour of running in her life.

She swiftly came to a crashing halt before a familiar gate, but this time…there is no going back.

Lauren ran her fingers across a rune, and it instantly glowed under her touch.

The runes spun, as a bright light shone out of the runes illuminating the dark forest.

Lauren grinned profoundly, she knew that Reiter was telling her a half-truth, now she was going to get the real truth.

She had three days before the big showdown, assuming what Reiter had told her wasn't a complete lie.

The door opened at snails pace, and Lauren could get a glimpse of the world beyond.

And that was not the world she knew.

Lauren hesitantly walked in through the gate to the underworld, immediately as she stepped out of range, the gate slammed shut.

Lauren looked around herself, she was in an abandoned street, cars were parked at various uncomfortable places, bloodstains tilted the road red.

She threw her gaze to the right, we're she could hear faint screaming in the distance, but she paid no heed.

Lauren pondered on which way to go, the road behind her deemed too dangerous for someone like her to travel on, she would need somewhere to stay for the night, so…

North.

There was an-gods help her-abandoned building about a mile away from her, the building seemed neat, but she still had to be careful.

Lauren walked up the road, the chilly wind on her face, and her hands in her pockets.

Lauren frowned, she had just three days to stop all these charades, or she become something else.

She had gotten about a meter close to the building door when she heard noises from inside.

"The human had gotten close enough."

"Do you think that it's blood is fresh?"

A silvery laugh that sent shivers down Lauren's spine, then, silent, but careful footsteps approached the door.

Lauren was panic stricken, she turned to run, but it was too late, the door was swung open, and a strong sense of chaos rose within Lauren.

She dared to take a glimpse behind her, and then, her heart dropped, her eyes dilated at the horrific sight before her.

Two human like creatures stood before her, one in resemblance to a man and the other a woman.

The male had a ruby gem on his head, his glowing red eyes were fixed on Lauren, a drop of blood ran down his face and as it dropped to the ground, dissolved into smoke. He had red hair, a fair face, a pair of metal fangs struck out of his mouth corners.

The female had a sapphire gem on her head, likewise her seemingly related partner, she had matching blue eyes and hair, she was also fair, and unlike him, she had just sharp miniature canines.

"Vam-Vam-Vampire!"
