Not Human

It was enough for Lauren to see, in fact she had seen too much, with an inhuman speed she dashed across the road into an alley.

"Not so human, do you think her blood will taste good?"

The male vampire just shrugged in response, an in a flash he effortlessly closed up the distance between Lauren and himself.

Lauren didn't even think about looking back, those creatures are right on her tail, she took a sharp curve at an alley before her, then, sped up the road.

The vampires followed her, they were just toying with her, but they just wanted to know just how long this human could go before realizing the truth.

Lauren was getting closer to the screams she had heard and ignored earlier, she felt something not right with the screams. It sounded more like screams of celebration than fear.

The male vampire suddenly came to a halt, he wasn't allowed to go beyond his territory, and he wasn't strong enough to start a battle with the red-eyed witches.

Lauren stopped in her tracks, her breath was ragged, her chest rose and fell rapidly, her heart was beating very fast, and her eyes were still dilating.

Before her was a beautifully dressed woman with red eyes, she was almost as tall as a pole, in her right hand was a long broomstick.

Lauren didn't wait to exchange pleasantries, without having a second wasted, she tore past the witch.

Unbeknown to her that the vampires chasing her had already stopped, and she wasn't being chased by anyone.

Lauren stopped before a car, she had ran into the middle of nowhere, she pants rapidly, her eyes scanned the environment and, then, her heart dropped.

"Where...am I?" He rasped, her breathing unstable as she pats her chest.

She looked around herself, then, spots a board with the writing:

'De Red-Eyed Witches'

Lauren tore her eyes away from the sign, she subconsciously glanced over to the right, her eyes lowered to the earth.

It was trembling.

----

Lauren was moving quicker than lightning, the ground rumbled below her feet, she staggers for a fleeting moment, but regained her stance instantly.

She glimpsed back, nothing was in pursuit, except for the incoming swirling mass of dust.

Lauren flung herself to the side, the weird wind whizzed past, it left a trail of dust behind.

Lauren frown, after the dust came scorch marks, she helped herself up to her feet then ran as fast as she could.

The swirling dust followed, it shot a projectile of dust at Lauren, then, sped up after her.

Lauren darts to the side, missing the dust projectile at hairs length.

She ran into a building, it's walls were cracked and old, and the windows broken, the roof was in addition very rusty.

The spinning mass of dust crashed into the building walls, in as much as it's strike was very powerful, not even a dent was left on the wall.

Lauren flashed a relieved smile back, she went deeper into the building, then, instantly collapsed to the ground.

----

The next morning, she woke up with big black bags under her eyes, her face was pale, and hands stiff with cold.

She let out a dry cough, Lauren look around, whilst ignoring the loud bangs coming from the front, she picked up a tattered pillow, then, shields her ears with it before dropping to the ground again.

----

Lauren woke up again to meet six red eyes staring at her intently. She gasped in shock, then, instantly tried to claw away from the monster before her.

She suddenly crashed into a lantern, the flames illuminated the room and, then-gods save her soul-she saw three witches staring at her.

She rose to her feet, something tug at her feet, and when she took a glimpse down she found a young girl with red hair clutching tightly to her clothes.

"Celina, come here."

The little girl jogged over to one of the witches, she hugged the witch tightly.

"Who are you?" One of the witches asked in a suspicious tone, her voice was silvery and elegant.

"My name is Lauren...Lauren Kane."
