Chapter 25

Apollo

The entire table was silent, both Apollo and Tori were looking down. "How did you know?" Apollo mumbled. Tori stayed quiet for a moment, before sighing. Apollo could feel her eyes on him. "It seemed obvious when I first met him. You two seemed so different, yet perfect for each other…."

"Besides, I heard you guys last night. At first, I thought it was a nightmare, it had to be. But, the next morning my ice cream was gone." She faltered. He glanced back up at her, and he was right. She wasn't angry, or sad. She just had a neutral face. Apollo looked back down. Why the hell was this so stressful?

"Listen, I want this to work out, and I want us to be happy. I want us to be the loving couple we used to be. But what you did, it hurt me." Apollo nodded slowly. He felt like a kid being scolded. He didn't want us, he didn't want to be with Tori. He wanted to be with Faline. Wanted to kiss him and touch in and-

"Apollo, are you thinking about him?" He looked up at Tori. She seemed disappointed. Not hurt, not mad, not sad, but disappointed. What was she disappointed for? "I do want this to work out, but for us to be the loving couple that we are-"

"But we aren't." He muttered, looking at his lap. Hitori didn't love him, he finally realized. She didn't want to marry him because she loved his personality. Tori sighed, shaking her head. She reaches for his hand. "But we can be, if you just didn't cheat on me we could have been amazing."

She wasn't in love with him. She was in love with the idea of marrying him.

Marry a police officer, top of his class. Maybe a Japanese person? Maybe she was in love with the fact that he had money or the fact that they could go on romantic trips together. Is that why she wanted to go to all those places? He yanked his head away.

"Tori, I love you. But, this isn't going to work out. And I realized something, it was never supposed to work out, that's just how life is." She looked at him, shocked. "So what, you're in love with him now?" She whispered, looking back down. He felt bad for coming across that way. "It's not that. To fall in love, you must not be in love. Our love, if there was any, turned to ashes way before Faline ever came into the picture."

She nodded, before a sudden ringing started from his phone, it was Kiyon. Not now, why now of all times! Before he could swipe to hang up, his wife shook her head. "Answer it, it's probably important." She mumbled. He nodded, standing up. As he walked out the door he answered. "Hello?"

"Hello, is this Apollo?" That was not Kiyon. He sucked in a breath, opening the glass door, a soft bell being rung by the movement. The night air was cold, but it calmed Apollo. "Uh, yes it is. May I ask who I'm speaking with?" He said politely. He didn't know who this person was, and why they were using Kiyon's phone, but he wasn't going to be rude.

"Oh, sorry for the late call. I'm G." Apollo's eyes widened. Was he talking to the guy who Betsy liked? How did Kiyon get his number? How are the two together? "G? As in the boy who talked to Betsy?" He asked. He walked to the small bench on the side of the restaurant. There was a small chuckle on the other end. Jeez, this guy's voice is deep.

"Oh yeah, I met her in the mall. She seemed like a sweet girl." He said. Apollo could see right through the laughter but decided not to bring this up. Why was he calling Apollo? And on Kiyon's phone? "So, I'm a little busy, is that all you wanted to call?"

"Oh no! Not, I just wanted to tell you. I have Faline here, and if you want to come by and pick him up, you guys need to talk." Oh, Faline. He smiles softly, happy that he could see the other again. They needed to talk, and Apollo needed to say sorry. Apollo needed to say a lot of things to Faline He felt bad for getting mad at him, even though he knew what Faline did was bad. He shouldn't have questioned him.

"Yeah, we do." He confessed. He combed a hand through his brown and white hair "Um, I'll pick him up. Thank you for calling me." He mumbled. "Your welcome, I'll send you the location. Bye." He said before the sound of the dial tone hit his ear. He hung up, letting his arms lay on his thighs as he looked up. He watched cars drive past him.

He got up after a minute or so, sighing as he walked back into the restaurant. He walked back to his table, not sitting down, but instead leaning on the booth. "Who was it?" Tori asked, sipping on her water. "G. I have to go and pick someone up." He said, to which Tori frowned. "G? As in the mall G? The one we ran into?" He nodded.

Tori slowly stood up and slid out of the booth. "Ok, let's go." She said with a smile. Oh, she wanted to go with him. "No, you can't go. You take an Uber to the apartment, I need to pick him up." He said, before grabbing the keys. He didn't have time to ask Hitori what she wanted him to do.
