Date Night

Kai took one look at her and felt satisfied. " Come here, angel."

Lee walked towards him with no hesitation. Unknown to her, she was slowly but surely developing trust towards him.

As she stood before him, he smirked at how obedient she has become. While Lila was slowly changing in his presence, so was he. He smiled and teased her more. He felt comfortable and free around her.

The demur that he was famous for was nowhere in sight. This was one of the reasons why Lila was intrigued by him. He had a reputation of being a cold-hearted monster who killed without remorse.

From the information she had about him, Kai was a casanova who changed partners every other week. Despite his ways, he has never taken anyone into his bedroom. Additionally, the king was known for being ruthless in his actions.

She has yet to see any of this and looked forward to them. Kai removed a black piece of cloth from his pocket and showed it to her. " I will be taking you to one of my sacred places. To keep it a secret, I shall blindfold you. "

She turned around and let him do as he pleased. For now, she was sure that he won't hurt her. Kai gently tied the piece of cloth over her eyes and took the basket out of her hand.

He held her hand in his and walked out of the room through the back door. Even with her eyes closed, Lila was able to tell the direction with each step she took. She calculated her steps and noted the air flaw.

She was too busy memorizing the route that she failed to realize that they had stopped. Kai stood and watched her for a minute. He had felt it. The way she concentrated on each step she took. How she stepped carefully and tuned her ears to feel the flow of the wind.

A crazy thought occurred to him. What if she was human? His aura suddenly changed making the air cold. Feeling the danger around, Lila turned in his direction. She instinctively stood in an attacking mode making his heart sink to the bottom of his belly.

She was a trained fighter. As he stood observing her, he was having a conflict with his wolf.

' I have a bad premonition about this. What if she is not a dormant wolf but a human? The only type of human that could infiltrate a werewolf territory is the slayers. What if she is a slayer?' Kai asked his wolf.

' That isn't possible okay. Why would the moon goddess pair us if that is the case? If she is indeed a slayer, she must be a powerful one. How else would she have the confidence to stay around us?'

' But, she is already ours. What should we do if that is the case?' Kai was getting frustrated. The air around them was getting colder by the minute. As he argued with his wolf, Lila realized that Kai was no longer holding her.

Additionally, he had become so silent. She cursed inside her head. Her stance was professional. The only way she could explain it was by telling half a lie as she have been doing all along. Unfortunately, it will only increase his doubts about her.

This was the third time she has given him a hint. She almost cursed out loud. The mission was getting harder than she had expected. Kai was very much aware of the people around him and their actions. She wasn't an exemption.

To redeem herself, she hugged her hand to keep herself warm. This was supposed to be her initial reaction. Any normal person would instinctively try to warm their bodies the minute they feel cold.

She wasn't normal though and being normal was hard for her. " Kai..? "

Hearing her melodic voice call his name snapped him out of his state. Did he hear wrong? This was the first time she called him by his name.

His heart thumped away in his chest. It felt weirdly fulfilling to hear his name on her tongue. He moved swiftly before she could register it, and stood before her. Kai stretched his arms and held her closer to his body.

They were a breath away from each other. His gaze fell on her moist lips as he considered kissing them.

" Say it, again. Call my name again." He whispered almost out of breath.

The basket full of food was long forgotten. As they stood in the middle of a garden full of flowers, the scene was picturesque. His whispered words sent a chill of a different kind down her spine. Coupled up with the fact that she was blindfolded, her senses were more alert.

Kai felt the little tremor of her body as he held her. " Angel, say my name." He was on the verge of begging her. To her astonishment, she complied. " Kai."

Her voice came out breathy unlike the composed one she expected.

" Kai, aren't we there yet? I want to remove the blindfold." The king closed his eyes. The sound of his name coming from her lips was music to his ears. He was enjoying it too much.

He liked how she called him with a Lilt in her pronunciation. His otherwise normal name was made so errotic by her voice.

" Angel,..." he whispered like a prayer.

' I hope that you are innocent of what I suspect. I don't know what I would do to you if you turn out to be a slayer.' That was what he wanted to say. Instead " Angel, I want to devour you right here, under the brightness of the moon witnessed by the stars."

Lila swore inside. This man was seducing her and she was falling for it. She felt a wave of anger wash over her. Anger that was directed to herself. She has never let any man come as close to her as he had. Not even her best friend.

" My king, are you seducing me? I am hungry and cold! Are you planning to starve me to death?" She snapped. Kai chuckled as he muttered a silent

"Cute " before walking behind her. He gently untied the blindfold and whispered in her ears.

" Look, angel. I brought you to a place whose beauty dims compared to yours. Do you like it?"

Lee couldn't hide the surprise in her eyes. They were in the heart of a flower garden. To the east was a field full of Pansy flowers, to the west was the gorgeous Lavender, to the north were the yellow bright hibiscus while to the south were daffodils.

Her eyes fell in love. Lavender recalled how her mother used to love flowers. She had made a garden full of all types of flowers. At the age of only five, her mother had made it her mission to teach her about every kind of flower in existence and its meaning.

She momentarily forgot about Kai and ran towards the field of pansy. Its yellow petals with a pattern of purple stains gave her a nostalgic feel. She wanted to place them on her mother's grave. The bright purple petals on its other half made the delicate flower appear beautiful to look at.

Kai walked the opposite way. He gently plucked out one Daffodil flower and walked towards the girl who was lost in thoughts as she watched the pansy.

" You like them? Do you know what it means?" He asked not expecting an answer.

" Remembrance. They are the flowers of remembrance. My mother used to love flowers a lot. I couldn't help but think of her at the sight of them. "

Her eyes were transfixed into the flowers that she didn't notice how he looked at her.

Kai didn't know the meaning. The only flower whose meaning he could guess was the one in his hands. This was because it was the last thing his mother gave him.

" Angel, I got you something. Here you go!" Lee looked back at him as her gaze lowered to his hands. The daffodil in his hand made her smile. To a new beginning in deed.

" Thanks. I like it. Do you know what it means?" She asked.

Her irritation was long forgotten the second her eyes laid on the flowers. She couldn't bring herself to feel angry anymore.

Kai shook his head no. As though embarrassed, he scratched his head a little. " Uumm, this was the last gift I received from my mother. A daffodil. I dont know its meaning and at the time, I was too young to think much about it."

Lee's silver pool was filled with wonder. He had unknowingly given her a significant piece. A rare dimpled smile formed on her lips as she closed her eyes and brought the flower to her nose.

Aside from the natural light, the garden was illuminated by the artificial lights that were installed therein. The scene was too much for his fragile heart. He couldn't take it. If he had known that it would take him showing her flowers to make her smile, he would have done it sooner.

" New beginning," she paused as she opened her eyes, the breathtaking smile in place, " that's what it means. Thanks."

Kai felt his heart pound with each breath, accelerating by each second like the hummingbird's wings. He could no longer take the attack from her. It was lethal to his heart.

Afraid of what he would do next, he looked away and walked towards the makeshift mat where he had placed the basket full of food. " you are welcome. Let's have dinner. The food is getting cold."

He walked away trying to tame his wild heart. He was truly doomed. She was killing him slowly but surely. Lila was still relieving the good old days with her mother. Her smile remained on her lips as she obediently followed behind him.

She carefully placed the flower away and served their meals. Kai could no longer take it. He wanted her to stop smiling so that his heart could go back to normal. There was only one way he knew how to make her angry.

" Angel, can you tell me more about your mother?" He asked. He expected her smile to vanish but it remained in place. Lee was glad to talk about her mother.

The two began their dinner as Lee spoke about her mother. She told him about her love for flowers, how good a neater she was, and the way she cooked a delicious meal. Kai found himself smiling along with her.

At some point, his heart got accustomed to the smile and took a break. Their dinner was enjoyable. The two bonded that night not aware of the storm that was brewing. The kind of storm that would change their fates.

At some point, Kai boldly asked lee to dance with him. She agreed. Everything she did tonight was a first for her. From the dinner date under the moonlight to the dance without music. She didn't mind. It wouldn't hurt to enjoy herself for one night.

As they swayed to the flow of air, Kai gazed into her eyes intently. " Angel, I think I am falling in love with you."

This was enough to wipe the smile off her face. Lee looked seriously into his eyes as she spoke.

" I warn you now, you should stop before it's too late. Me and you, are not meant to be."

Kai disregarded her words and continued. " Angel, do you know what I hate the most in the world? It's being betrayed by someone I trust. I hope you don't disappoint me."

Lila's heart skipped a bit. She knew for sure that she would betray him. There was nothing she could do about it.

" What happens if I betray your trust?"

It was now Kai's turn to take in a deep breath.

" Baby, if that happens, I will kill you with my own hands and then kill myself. You became my target the minute you seduced me with your eyes. The only way I can accept parting with you is through death. So, you better not make me do that. I want to enjoy life with you in it."

His voice was firm and sure as he let her know about his feelings. It was true. It has not been long since they met but it wasn't hard for a wolf to fall for his mate from the first gaze. That was what happened with Kai.

It began as an attraction that was growing by the day. He was sure at this point that he couldn't stop his heart from loving her no matter how much he tried. Lee didn't answer him. She let silence reign between them until they eventually stopped dancing.

That night, his words weighed heavily on her mind as she drifted off to sleep. Whatever happens, she wouldn't know the result until she reaches there. She would wait for things to take their natural course. For now, she just had to continue as she have been doing.

Kai's state was different. He held the single daffodil near his nose as he inhaled. He didn't plan for things to go like this. He planned for nothing. He just wanted to have dinner with her. Who would have known, he would end up confessing.

" Angel, I will trust you and I hope you will not disappoint me. I don't think my heart can take another disappointment."
