Restless Case

Alarmed, I woke up because of the disturbing loud sound of something. I opened my door and saw Vienne holding a steel basin and an upside-down gun, which she probably used to hit the basin.

I threw her a death stare and she immediately recoiled back to her room like a kid who was caught playing outside by her mother.

Being the stubborn that she is, she announced something before she disappeared from my sight.

"Wake up people! We have to do an important mission. There is no special treatment here! Even if your name ends with Flinn!"

I raise my brow at her announcement which is obviously for me. My eyes lingered on her close door for a moment.

Kiddo.

I decided to shut the door to check my phone in the drawer and see what's up.

A group of mafia's top partners is being seriously targeted right now. And we are responsible to protect them. A video is sent to me and I saw how critical their situation is right now. The assassins with them are doing their best, but they, being extremely outnumbered, is making it a difficult defense. There's a lot of fallen bodies in the area, but more are appearing in the dark.

Three vans were owned by the mafia and they are fighting off ten vans. Excluding those appearing elsewhere.

This is a well-executed ambush and it is going rough.

It is still 2 in the morning but thinking of the probability of Rene's wild guess pushed me to go. I passed the office and noticed Rene, who is comfortably sleeping in his office, obviously not aware of the situation.

His glass window didn't give him privacy.

Is he not going? I am battling with myself whether to wake him up or not, and in the end, I decided to not.

I roamed my eyes on the center and realized most rooms are already abandoned. They already left. With my guns with me, I rode my motorcycle to kill those who became the reason for my disrupted sleep.

Rex's car is already on the way and I speed up to overtake. We are now on the desolated part of the place so my advancing has made the deserted land fly to them.

A bullet intentionally passed my side mirror and I already know that Vien is behind it.

I speed up more to match that.

Gun firings are heard from the distance. I heard a lot of it and how it is continuously happening. I can already glimpse the vans where the business partners are in and the different assassins moving and skillfully fighting off the unending number of enemies, risking their lives for them.

I am already near the area, but I abruptly turned to go back.

I drove back to Rex and Vien who is still on the way there. The car stopped when they noticed me approaching. Rex opened the windows when I stopped mine, just near them.

"Vien who is with Rene?"

"Wow! You decided to talk to-

I tore my eyes off her because of her usual useless response and faced Rex who is now getting what I am thinking. Most of us are on our way to rescue those business partners. But I am seeing it the other way around.

Like Luther said, they are, after all, focused on killing the skilled assassins of the mafia.

And Rene has few companions left in the center.

He is their main target.

They know how much of an asset he is. And killing him is like cutting Luther's other foot. It wasn't a secret that his legendary tales have impacted the success and domination of the mafia. He is a greater catch compared to those business partners they are ambushing now. They just diverted our attention by making them as a bait on the game, scheming a way to catch a bigger fish!

That means someone in the mafia has informed them that he will not go. I better know myself who that is.

And if the culprit could deploy this much people for the business partners, then for Rene they can...

"I'll be guarding you. Go now," he said, and I immediately closed my helmet although goons with black clothing has suddenly appeared with their motorcycle on the way, stopping me from leaving.

I speed my way up and didn't even blink when their guns are automatically aimed at my head and body. At the time they are about to pull the trigger, they were welcomed by bullets coming behind me.

Sorry, but I have my confused pals behind me.

"Now go ahead and do things on your own again! Spoiled bitch!" I heard Vienne shout at the top of her lungs.

I lightly shook my head at her awful behavior.

Now who is the spoiled one?

I simply did a pass-by with their lying bodies on the floor. Someone was able to shoot my lights though.

I made a quick turn to shot the one responsible for it.

I also managed to take a glimpse of Vien and Rex who is now out of the car.

Vienne's long caramel wavy hair is dramatically played by the early morning wind, covering some of her face. She is smiling wickedly and eerily as she maneuvers two elongated shotguns in her both hands. And with the way she is presented now, I can't help but notice that despite her childish behavior, she really looks pretty mature than her age, in a good way.

Rex's chestnut brown hair is making him look like a prince ready to save her princess. He has this air of a prince riding his brown horse that is ready to take everyone's breath away, but right now instead of holding a whip, he is playing with a powerful sniper rifle and is with a luxurious smexy sports car. He is seriously targeting more persons appearing on my way, his clenching jaw is noticed even from afar.

I smirked at the number of new bodies on the ground. A blast.

Remind me not to mess with them so much.

I reached my best speed and focused more of my sight on the dark road, for my lights are not working anymore. In the middle of the ghost road, a group of guys with axes appeared. I made a critical drift, made the front of my vehicle up, and used my wheels to sashay them the deserted land to preoccupy their attention. Two men skillfully made their way near me, they are hiding on the darker corners of the road, not appearing like those infront of me now. And just waiting for a discrete attack.

Without removing my eyes infront, I aimed my gun at them who are now fast approaching my different sides, very ready to chop my head off.

I played and played the trigger, and my bullets had them thrice on the chest. Their axes fell flat on the ground as they struggle with the shots. I immediately moved both of my hands infront to shoot all that's left, still riding on the motorcycle.

Have they not thought of how ineffective axes are compared to a gun in this battle? Their axes have no win over guns that can kill even with a distance.

Take note that it is me holding them.

Aware of how I am needed in the center, I didn't waste a time so I drive again to reach the center.

Welcomed by a lot of dead bodies on the floor, I ran around the hallways to look for Rene, but after a while of searching, I found none. I also noticed that some people of the mafia are shedding blood on the floor.

I neared someone who is still breathing. I spend some time to stop his stomach from bleeding more through covering it with a fabric I ripped on a dead person near him. I frowned when an idea passed on my mind. And it heightened more when I heard continuous shots coming from the direction of the shooting range.

Riding my motorcycle again, I drove fast. I halted looking at the scene outside the shedded shooting range.

One kneeling man is shot and the other is sliced harshly.

I headed fast to the two gentlemen and forcefully turned them to me. I met their guarded eyes, and a deep voice circulated on the area.

"Why are you here?"
