chapter 26

"I would've been fine if you just left me be." Celeste told him more than a little exasperated. She would've preferred to be left in her dress if the only other option would've been him seeing her body.

"So you would've preferred if I left you in your dress and risked you catching a cold?" he asked tilting his head slightly. Bane's good mood was only staying in place because his wolf was at the front wanting to analyze and enjoy as much time with his mate as possible.

"Besides, it's not like you don't have a lovely body. I don't think there's any reason to be shy." He told her with an almost predatory smirk.

The smirk didn't last long however as a pillow smacked in the first, not gently either.

"That isn't the kind of thing you say in this type of situation!" Celeste scolded as she got ready to smack him out of frustration again. Her headache had been totally forgotten at this time, replaced by the growing annoyance she felt towards the man who seemed to bring her nothing but trouble whenever they were together.

"Where are my friends? Either one of them could've taken me home." Celeste didn't get to hit him a second time as the other managed to grab the end of the pillow closest to him before it smacked his face.

"Your female friend was too wasted to drive and I didn't trust you going home with that other male." just thinking about the other man made him annoyed. He tried not to let it reflect on his facial expression as he kept hold of the pillow much to the other's annoyance.

"I would have been fine." Celeste huffed, letting the other take pillow since she wasn't going to be able to smack him again anyways.

"You know though, you don't really have a right to be doing this since you already have someone else you're with, it wouldn't be right." Bane's facial expression got darker after she had said this. Of course she didn't remember their conversation from the previous.

"I don't have anyone else. You're my only mate." he replied sharply as he shifted from the lounging position he was one to one where he was sitting up.

"Whoever that woman, she's delusional as no problem was made between us." By her expression, it was easy to tell that Celeste didn't believe a word that he was saying.

"She seemed very serious about it though." Celeste insisted.

"And I know how guys like you can be with all the fame and fortune that you have. Keeping different women for every week." she continued noticing as Bane shifted so that he was now facing her.

"I'm not quite sure where you heard that from or what gave you such ideas. I can assure you however sweetheart that I'm quite different from anything you think I might be. It's not a lie either to say that you're going to be the only one I feel this way towards. It's not even something that I can control myself." He told her as he learned forward to brush some of the hair out of her face.

Celeste wasn't thrilled about it but didn't flinch away when he touched her. The alpha took that to be a positive sign.

He was having to be really good as each minute passed by for the little human's scent was becoming intoxicating to him and make him desire for things that he knew he couldn't have yet. The fact that each day marked one more day closer to the full moon didn't help either.

Looking at her face was making it harder for him to ignore the strong urge to kiss her as he brushed the back of his hand against her right cheek. Her skin was so soft and smoother under his touch.

Celeste wanted to ask him what exactly he thought he was doing, but something about the look in his eyes told her that it would be better not to speak at that moment. He wasn't doing anything bad to her after all.

The way that the little human was laying also made it rather easy for him to approach her for affection without being pushed away because even though she was now sitting up, the wall behind and next to the bed boxed her in a sense.

Bane licked his lips as he stared at Celeste's. Each time he saw how plump and pink her lips were, he couldn't help but wonder if they were as soft as they looked. He was starting to lean forward in order to kiss the other when the moment was ruined by the sound of his phone suddenly going off.

There was never a time more than right then that he wanted to throw the thing against the wall. It ruined the moment for him and caused Celeste to become to self-conscious and look away from the other even though her ears were bright red.

The alpha let out a low grumble of a growl as got off the bed left so that he could take the call somewhere more private. He already knew what it was going to be about and that annoyed him even more.

Once Bane had left the room, the only thing that went through her mind was that she needed to be able to leave as soon as possible.

He may not have been lying about letting her win or what happened to her friends, but there was still something about him that she couldn't understand and that was what made her still want to stay away from him.

Her plan wasn't very far formulated as she has burrowed further under the blankets only to find how comfortable they really were. The warmth deceased her ability to think clearly.

She didn't get to enjoy it for too much longer before Bane came back. He had swapped from his robe to business attire and was fixing his left sleeve when as he began to with Celeste.

"I have to go take care of some important business." he told her as he looked up to make sure that she was paying attention to him.

"As I'm sure you have other things to attend to and wouldn't like staying here, I can give you a ride back to your place." The alpha offered. He would've loved for her to stay there but she wouldn't because she wasn't ready yet. It would have to wait for another time.
