Chapter 27

Celeste hesitate about what decision to make at first when she thought about the fact that she didn't have a spare change of clothes. Bane must've known what she was thinking by the look she gave as he disappeared without saying anything and returned with a bag that had clothes in it.

"I had a friend pick them up, but they should be about the right size." He told her as he came over to put the bag of clothes on the bed. He only was able to have Aster make a decent guess as to what size the other wore based upon what the tag on the dress said.

"Bathroom is to the left if you would prefer to get changed in there rather than here. I'll be waiting for you in the living room when you're done." The alpha didn't wait for the other to say anything before he left the room.

At the thought of her swapping out of the outfit that she was currently in, Bane knew better than to stick around. For some reason it seemed that the less that was covering her skin, the strong that scent that he was addicted to became.

Celeste did decide that it would better to get changed in the bathroom. Even though Bane had left, she still felt comfortable locking the door just to be safe. She wanted some space to breath after everything that was happening also.

Even though she had a feeling that she could trust the man when he said that he didn't do anything to her, a part of her was still nervous when she slipped out of the robe to change into the blouse and pants that he had gotten her. Though nothing apparent stuck out to her as being different about her body, she wasn't completely satisfied until she completely looked herself over in the mirror before changing. She wanted to be careful but knew that the other might be impatient if she made him wait for too long.

Bane was on his phone texting someone as he leaned against the wall right inside the front door while waiting for Celeste to come down. He needed to do some work things even though it was the weekend and he also wanted to give his mind something else to focus on aside from the girl in the other room.

"Pain killers and water are on the table over there, take them before we leave." He order without looking up from his phone as soon as he knew the other had entered the room. If he hadn't said anything to her, she would've walked right past both without noticing them.

He put away his phone when he noticed that she was done and opened the door so that she could leave first after he made sure that he had his keys in his pocket. Everything else would have to wait until he was finished with her.

Though Bane was used to the peeking and open stares of the neighbors as he came out of his apartment building, Celeste evidentially wasn't and seemed rather uncomfortable with all the attention they were getting based upon the scent she was giving off and the way she bunched herself up as though to make herself seem smaller and less visible.

Bane ended up wrapping his arm around her and drawing her closer both to block her view of those who were watching and to obscure her from the nosy neighbors who were trying to see who she was.

If it hadn't been for the fact that alpha's body was big enough to block her from the view of most of the people who were watching them and stopped her from seeing as well which reduced her nervousness, she would've yelled at him for what he was doing and told him to not do it again. Right now though, she was rather appreciative of it and thus wouldn't protest even if she didn't like being so close to the other.

The alpha would've growled at the humans for making his mate uncomfortable if it weren't for the fact that he thought that might her more nervous than the stares that she was getting. He never could understand why humans were so noisy about things that weren't going on in their life. Who he was with or brought home was none of their business and never would be because they didn't hold any kind of space in his life that allowed them to poke into things or judge him for what he did.

He unlocked the car door and opened it so that Celeste could get inside first. The deep tint on the window hide her from the view of those who were still trying to catch a peek to see who she was. After he closed the door, he came around the other side so that he could get in as well.

"Do you want me to drop you off right in front of your apartment or let you walk the rest of the way?" Bane asked as he started the car up. Celeste had almost forgotten the fact that he somehow knew where her apartment was located even though she hadn't given him any information about it.

"Two blocks away would be good." She replied softly, putting on her seatbelt while refusing to make eye contact with him. Even though it seemed to her that he was being enough, she still felt rather nervous around him. Mostly because she wasn't sure when the creature part of him might reappear.

She had no way of knowing if it was caused by a trigger or something that he had control over. Either way, she didn't want to risk finding out and having something happen only minutes after she had managed to escape his comfortable, lovely, yet intimidating apartment.

"Alright." was all Bane said as he backed the car out so that he could put and head in the direction of her apartment complex. If it wasn't for work and the fact that he didn't want to deal with her friends or anyone else poking around if she was one for too long, he would've tried to convince her to stay for a while longer.

After all, she seemed far more comfortable in his apartment once she had calmed down some than she had after they left the apartment with all those people looking at them, Minus the fact that she had smacked him in the face with a pillow, he felt that it rather successful and the move in the right direction to getting her to trust him and understand that he wouldn't do anything to purposely hurt her.
