Chapter 40

"So what's the occasion that you're suddenly calling on me like this?" Liam didn't even give her a chance to get situated in his car before she started asking questions.

"I hadn't seen you for a while and was looking for someone to hang out with tonight." Celeste was replied. It was close enough to the truth that she didn't feel bad about lying to him.

"And I'm the only person available to entertain you tonight?" He teased as he started the car up.

"Kind of?" she replied uncertainly. He was at least the only one she could rely on to get her out of her apartment for a few hours.

"I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure it is the wisest decision to want to spend time with me consider I'm still on the clock." Liam warned. The other gave him a curious look when he said this but he gave her a charming smile rather than answering her question.

She only had to wait until they reached where he worked to find out what he meant by that.

"Goodness what a cute little kitten you brought one." One guy cooed.

"She's not one of the regulars around here. Where did you pick her up at?" another asked as a group of guys crowded around the table to get a look at Celeste who was feeling uncomfortable with the unexpected level of attention.

Liam was too amused by the situation to do anything to deter it even as he sat next to Celeste with this arm over her shoulder. She knew her friend worked at at host club, but she didn't except to be getting such a reception from a the group of strangers who worked there.

"Now now, why don't you all go get your own customers and allow the girl some space. You're obviously making her nervous." An older man approached and clapped his hands to get the group of hosts to take a step back from the table.

"We don't have anything better to do. Tonight is a slow night and hardly anyone else has come in yet." a guy with spiky black hair whined at the older man who gave him a disapproving look.

"Haven't I told you when that happens then you need to put yourself out there and bring the customers in Derek?" he scolded causing the other to pout.

"Why does Liam get all the cute adorable ones? I would love a girl like that to spoil." Another guy sighed as he watched Liam and Celeste enviously.

"Maybe you could find our own girl like that if you put in as much effort as he did. Even our two new members are doing better then you, Ben." The man sighed. He said a few more harsh words before he managed to get everyone to leave the table and back to work.

"I do apologize for the trouble. They are truly good at their jobs. Just sometimes easily distracted and a bit misguided." The man apologized as he turned his attention to Celeste.

"I believe that this is my first time seeing you here. The name is Jeremy. I'm the manger of this place." He held out his hand for the other to shake.

"She's a friend of mine so I hope you won't mind if she sticks around for a few hours." Liam informed the other who shook his head.

"As long as she's a paying customer, I don't care how long she sticks around. I will just make sure that everyone else knows to let her be." Jeremy replied.

"You know if you keep up things the way that you have been, you might hit number one again this month." a pleased grin spread across the other man's face when he heard this.

"You know that's the spot I'm aiming for." He replied. Jeremy left after telling him to keep up the good work.

"Is it important to be number one?" Celeste asked once everyone else had dispersed and it was only the two at the table.

"Of course. The higher the number you are, the more benefits and pay you get." Liam explained as he filled her glass with some alcohol.

"Just a little something to help you relax. Not anything strong enough to get you buzzed." he assured when he saw the look that was on her face.

"Really though, why did you get in touch with all of a sudden? We haven't talked much over the last three months since I get this job and now here you are calling me out of the blue?" He knew that there had to be something more than she telling him as to why she called suddenly. Otherwise, he would have heard from her sooner than now if she really did just want to hangout.

"I honestly did want someone to hangout with tonight. I recently started a new job of my own and there has been a lot going on so I wanted to do something to relax." Celeste replied.

"I'm not sure that coming here was the right choice for that though." Liam pointed out as though he could read what was going through her mind.

"Maybe not, but I knew that you were the one person I could rely on to be around tonight. Everyone else is busy." She answered honestly causing the other to laugh.

"Wow, glad to know where I fit on your list of friends. I'll keep that in mind for the future." He joked. Celeste was about to say something in response to this when she heard a voice speak from behind here.

"If isn't top host and what's this? He already found a little kitten to spoil?" This voice was followed by another that sounded almost identical to the first.

"So quickly? Seems to me that someone might cheating." Liam titled his head back so that he could look behind the booth seating to where he knew the owners of the voices would be located.

"You two are just jealous that you haven't been able to pass me yet. Probably won't happen any time soon considering how good I am at my job." he replied.

"Aren't you going to introduce to your new girl?" The first voice asked as the voice followed by footsteps got closer to where they were seating.

"I think that since she's the guest here that the polite thing to do would be for the pair of you to introduce yourselves first." He motioned for the two of them to come over so that they could do exactly that.

It wasn't just their voices that sounded similar, physically the looked almost identical as well. There was something vaguely familiar about them to Celeste, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was as the one the left spoke to introduced the pair.

"Hello little one. I'm Sinestro and this here is my brother Dextero." He introduced with charming smile.
