New Era

Heavenly Murim was a giant world. Full of vast treasures and unexplored land. A world where there was always something stronger and out of reach. This world was full of cultivation. It was normal for people every day. Cultivation was taught through elementary school and used in daily life.

There were some talented in cultivation who rose in power to become nobles, and some even monarchs. This created The 8 Great Families from around the world. These families reigned for thousands of years at the top. They discovered vast areas of land. And it was all thanks to cultivation.

In the still undiscovered land. There were things still yet to be discovered. And beasts that rivaled the discovered worlds powers. To continue their exploration noble families started to create factions of cultivators. The strongest Great Family, which held authority above all others, The Supreme Surya family was able to gain so much power and discover so much land due to a cultivator that led their factions. His name was, Ren Sato. A legend whose power was strong. And his leadership skills were unmatched across the lands. He led the Great Families to their glory.

After conquering so much, the Great Families set up a new kingdom, the kingdom of Sovereign in the newly explored lands with more powerful artifacts and beasts. They got prideful in their power and decided to set up a land only the powerful could strive in. Most people followed them and left the old lands. 30% stayed behind.

The old lands slowly started becoming less and less powerful. There was no nobles left. And so all of the old land became a poor place where people cultivated their plants instead of themselves. And cultivation there started to get scarce.

After a while, the Great Families got blinded by their power and took it for granted. To aid people that lived in the New Kingdom, the Great families started to take people from the old lands and made them slaves. Their cultivation was meek and they could not resist. Many got taken away but after years of running, the people from the old lands created different cities that were far from each other and the new kingdom. The Great nobles stopped taking people as slaves and created a place inside the new kingdom where slaves were mass produced.

Ran Sato did not approve of all what was happening. But his voice was not heard anymore. He was given respect but the Great family had started to see him as nothing but a burden because they couldn't explore more land, their forces were too weak. And without the conquering of land, Ren Sato had no more use in the kingdom.

When people did votes on slavery, many would vote for slavery to be abolished, that was mainly due to Ran Sato's influence. The Great families could not have that, slaves ran most of their business, so they decided to get rid him. Ren knew that his time was not long. He was 80 years old and his power was growing weak. Although he was still one of the strongest in the empire, he was not immune to poison.

Ren didn't know the plans of the Great families until the very end. Ren was drugged and taken to the city hall, where they held his execution. He was cuffed with anti mana cuffs. And had a bag over his head. When he woke up he was confused but used his mana sense to see everything around him and his current situation. There were thousands of people there. "Why is this happening?" "What did he do." He heard in the crowd.

He blew the bag off his head using mana surge and looked around. He was on a podium. And behind him, the 8 Kings from the 8 Great families. The king of the Surya family spoke. "I, Raikall, was once not only a friend, but an admirer of Ren Sato. He contributed an unimaginable amount of help in developing this country. But I never expected for him to betray this country! The one that he helped form!" Raikall was furious, or at least acting to be. People were shocked. "Ren Sato betraying the country? impossible!" "how could he do such a thing, I used to admire you!" There were mixed emotions in the crowd.

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS RAIKALL!" Ren Sato shouted from the top of his lungs. His voice was thunderous, making everyone's ear drums ring. "You dare try to frame me?!" Raikall smirked at Ren. That's when he knew. that this was planned all along. "Look at this traitor try to prove his innocence! Despicable!" Raikall was invoking the people. "What a lying scum" "disgusting." Ren felt helpless. Through all his long life, he had become wise and knew how to handle any situation, but this. It filled him with rage and sadness.

Before this, he had gone into the unexplored lands, to explore the ancient ruins and new beasts. He had learned a new technique from a large abandoned ruin that could use ones life force to wield great power. He thought to never use this power unless it was absolutely necessary, but he never thought it would come so quick. Ren used his new technique to unleash his true power. He broke free from the anti-mana cuffs, flew above and destroyed many buildings. His rage blinded him from seeing any sense of reason. Before he tried to kill Raikall, who was prepared to defend. Ren fell down to the ground.

The poison had already gotten to him. All of his senses went away, he could only feel emotions. "I, I am dead.. well at least.. atlea- WHO AM I KIDDING?! THERE IS NOTHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR!" "But what can I do? Its all over. My family. They will all probably die as well.." Ren didn't want to think about it. Now that it was all over, he simply wanted to cry. "if... if only I could go back, I would create a new kingdom, better than that horrid one, and I would ruthlessly murder those bastards!" He then closed his eyes, for what felt like thousands of millennia.

"open your eyes young one" a deep, calm voice forced him to open his eyes. He tried to talk when he realized he had almost forgotten how to. "Who, who are you?". "Me? You don't need to worry about such things, even I don't know that haha". The voice sounded like a wise old man laughing away. "You, you have stayed in this realm for a very long time, longer than anyone in history to come up here. You want to go back that bad huh?" Ren had no idea what this old man was talking about. "what are you saying? Of course I want to go back, where is this place?"

"This is the ascension realm, a place where you ascend into different into the Legendary Dragon Realm. Its a place you go when visiting another Realm." "What in the worl- anyways, why have you come here, why are you talking to me old man." Ren wanted to know what was going on. "Well, I got intrigued by your patience and your will to go back to your realm. So I am going to send you back, how does that sound" The old man was chuckling while talking. But Ren was taken back by what he had just heard, he couldn't help the tears from coming out of his eyes.

"I don't know you but and I don't know if I should trust you but I don't care, put me back, put me back to my old life please!" Ren's emotions were surging from rage to happiness to sadness to confusion. "Well of course I will do that, that's the reason I have come here in the first place, but before that I must inform you, once I send you back to your realm, you will not be living the same life. You will be reincarnated." Ren was so overflowed by emotion that he didn't care if he was reincarnated or whatever. "How many years in the future will I be reincarnated". Ren was expecting a long number, he didn't know how long it had been, but it must have been above 100,000 at the very least. "Hmm, you will most likely be reincarnated 24 hours after your death, I hope you don't mind." Ren didn't know if that was good or bad, but all he wanted to go back and see his family, and destroy the 8 Great families, so he didn't care.

As soon as the old man said those words, Ren felt as though air became as heavy as water and intruded his body inside and out. He felt like he was falling fast in the dark vast ocean. He could see nothing for a while. Then he saw a light. It grew larger and larger. Until he had completely fell through.

"Congratulations Mrs. Gold! Its a boy!" Ren opened his eyes. Holding him was a woman who appeared to be in her late 20s. She had dark brown hair and he noticed that her clothes were very old and messy. In the corner of the room was a man who looked to be in his early 30s. He black hair, and looked to work as a blacksmith from his dirty clothes and his hands covered in dark ash. "Wow, in all my years I have never seen a baby not cry after being born. What a weird one" The nurse was surprised on the fact that the new born baby had not cried. "Are you sure there isn't anything wrong with him?" The woman spoke. "Oh ho no no, he seems to be perfectly fine" The nurse said while laughing.

"Thank you so much for this, I don't know how to repay you" the person who seemed to be my mother was very kind looking. "Well, some coppers will definitely help with that" The nurse said while smirking. "Oh, you know we cant afford to pay the birthing fee, I hope we can get a few more months to collect the 10 copper coins." My mother sounded very concerned. I could tell that I was not born in the Kingdom, but instead the outskirts. After the old kingdom split up into different cities, the empty space was then filled by monsters that were previously subdued.

In the new kingdom, 10 copper coins were just about nothing, able to buy you a simple piece of candy. (100 copper coins = 1 silver coin, 100 silver coins = 1 gold coin, 100 gold coins = 1 platinum coin.) Even the children of nobles had at least a a couple dozen copper coins in their pockets.

"Of course, you will have as much time as you need." The nurse was very polite. "What will you name him?" Wait, my name, my name will now be changed forever, this is not okay, I need to somehow convince them that my name is Ren, but that's not possible, I am only a baby, I can't even speak because my vocal cords haven't developed enough yet. While Ren was thinking away, his parents had already made the decision. "We will name him Ren! We thought about it for a long time, but the great mage, Ren Sato was a person who cared for the poor when he was here, I still remember it as it were yesterday. He was a great person, the only noble that helped us. We will name our child after him!" My mother was ecstatic that she could name me after myself, and so was I. "What a great choice!"

My name then was forever Ren Gold! Unless I died and reincarnated again heh heh. After this we went back home, I got to see the state of the city we were in. We looked to be very high. Our city was most likely on a mountain to protect against the beasts down below. The buildings were shabby. They looked like the homes of the slaves in the new kingdom. The air was dark, and was filled with musty air from all of the smoke and dust. Everyone there had a mean look, but who could blame them. There whole lives, they had lived in misery. I even got to see some "nobles" among the people. Although they were not pronounced nobles by the king, they were impudent people who were the richest out of the city. They were not recognized as nobles by anyone but themselves. But even they had only a little more than a kids pocket money.

We arrived at our home, it was a small wooden building. Inside there was a small firepit to the left. And to the right was one room that could fit all of us. The view from our house down below as amazing. We were about 8,000' above the ground. A fairly normal sized mountain. Below was a vast jungle as far as the eye could see.

I had 2 siblings. One was a girl and the other a boy. The girls name was Asith, and the boys name was Azazel. My sister was around 5 years old while my brother was around 4.

I slowly got accustomed to my life. But I still thought of my family and my revenge every single day. I didn't have the power to kill all 8 Great families in my past life, so I needed to find a way to become as powerful as I was before and stronger.
