Luan took a deep breath and swung the door open and leaped down to the pavement. He lifted his hand to help her down after him. Evangeline bent her head as she exited the carriage, trying to avoid her chignon hair from falling out of its secure place.

The Anderson's mansion was massive and majestic, built in the French Neoclassical style with soaring pillars and multiple staircases. The stone of the house seemed to gleam silver and up a row of white steps was a pair of double doors coated in gold. They were ajar, and Evangeline could see everything about the mansion was pearlescent like the inside of an oyster shell under the radiance of the moon.
