Chapter 17

I had seen the school hallways in those conditions in my dream.

That just seemed so unnerving.

That hallway, like the other ones we'd come across, was barely lit. The darkness was almost blinding, with the feeling of eeriness clinging tightly to it. Unmoving shadows lingered inside every class that the door stood ajar and I briefly peeped inside as we walked passed. Baylor walked stealthily ahead of me, nervously looking over his shoulders at intervals to make sure I was still following closely behind him and not lingering far away. Silence filled the hall with lingering trepidation, that threatened to make my ears numb. I could literally hear my heart beating inside of my chest, wanting out with every thud, alarming me that I might be too loud and could just as well be sticking a spot light on my forehead for everyone or things lingering in the hallway dark corners to spot me with ease.
