He blinked his brown yes and scratched at his cheek. There was a slight tinged at the tip of his ear and he looked away, before looking at her hands holding his. He had… He had never had someone hold his hands before. His father would be so angry with him, but it felt nice. Her hands were warm and soft.
"Well," he cleared his throat, "I don't know much about her because my father forbade it in our city, but I heard stories. She sounds nice and pretty. I wonder sometimes if maybe, maybe she lives on the moon and watches us, you know? Maybe she is watching me."
The child-like man grinned and the Moon Goddess couldn't help how her heart singed. Okay, it could work. All she had to do was tell him more stories, get him to love her, pledge to her, and BAM! He would be her chosen Werewolf, her chosen Alpha. Smiling, she squeezed his hand.
"I know much of her, Sir. I can tell you all the stories you wish to hear."
"Really?!" His brown eyes widened before they crinkled, "Please do! I want to learn more, but, my father can't know about it," he paused and looked around for a moment, "Come with me."
He pulled her with him down the hill filled with dandelions flowing in the breeze. They made a few turns down the dirt path and through a small forest. Her feet was dirtied and tired, but she followed the excited man all the way to the front of a cabin. She found her lips smiling as the cabin reminded her of her first alpha.
'This must be fate.'
Hands still wrapped around hers, she was pulled up the steps and entered the cabin with the freckled face man.
"No one knows of this place," the man grinned chuckling to himself, "But it might get cold later, so I hope we have enough blankets to warm us."
"This is a nice place, sir. How did you find it?" She questioned walking around the small cabin.
A table, a couch, and a fireplace in the front room. A cot in the bedroom and a small bath were all that was in the cabin. Whoever built this wanted to live as quiet and as little as they could. She wondered who it could be that lived here once. Were they now gone? Would they return with it occupied?
"See, I read stories about her," the man grinned holding a stack of books. She joined him on the couch and listened to what he had read.
"The Moon Goddess protects the world of Nevrisea with the Sun God. The Sun God protects us with light and happiness. The Moon Goddess protects us with protection and safety. A werewolf, strong and mighty is her protector. He protects all with no judgement. The Moon Goddess is beautiful and when you see her, you would cry from her beauty. Pretty, pretty Goddess. Strong, strong Werewolf.
The world is happy. The End."
The freckled face man finished reading and grinned at her so happily, she couldn't help laughing. A child's story, one written by the child of this home maybe. The drawings were with crayons, she presumed, and the book was stitched up by a yarn. It was sweet and adorable to hear a child felt that way about her.
"What is your name?" She questioned and he made a surprised face before it went to his usual carefree smile.
"My name is Rei Solis, miss. What is yours?"
"If I told you I was the Moon Goddess, what would you do?"
"I don't believe you," he frowned and shook his head, "The Moon Goddess wouldn't want to see me. I am not a good person. My father tells me all the time. I think the Moon Goddess would rather see good people instead."
"Rei…" she searched his face with concern, "You… You believe you are a bad person?"
"I don't know," he sighed and looked back down at the book, "My father told me I don't listen, I don't care for anyone but myself. He even told me to get married so someone else could take care of me, but I said no. I don't need anyone to take care of me. I am perfectly fine," he smiled, "I have the Sun God watching me and the Moon Goddess protecting me."
Ah, what a sweet boy.
"Have you gone to the city called Flathand? They do not believe in the Moon Goddess. They forbade it as well."
"I haven't gone out of the city," he sighed, "I want to, though. I wish I could tell people about her. I know she is good."
She cupped his face and his eyes widened.
She… She was touching his face! No one touched his face! His cheeks warmed and he did his best to not move. Wait… Maybe he should react like Mr. Orange! So, hesitantly rubbing his cheek against the warm palm, he heard the soft laughter. Purple eyes crinkled and he grinned, happy to make her smile.
"You are a sweet boy," she whispered and the man pouted.
"I am 20," he murmured, "I am not a boy."
She grinned and nodded. Asking for tea, she watched Rei start the fireplace before placing the kettle over it. She bit her lips with glee, happy that this man would be her alpha! She could feel it in her heart this time! Rei Solis would be her first in this mission! Finally, she felt closer to her goals.
"Sir Rei," she smiled, "I will go rinse my feet first. I have made the cabin a bit dirty."
"Okay!"
Heading to the bath she turned on the water and rinsed her feet. Once she was done and tossed out the water, she returned to sit before the fireplace. Rei handed her the cup of tea and she thanked him.
"What would you like to know about her?" The Moon Goddess questioned.
"Mm, everything," his brown eyes brightened.
She laughed and thought about which story she should give. Knowing everything about her would take years to tell and she didn't have that much time. She looked at the man holding the child's book as if it was a treasure. This man was so innocent, she worried if she was to mark him, he would be too vulnerable to handle much of anything.
She really hoped she was wrong.
