"Get off of her!" He screamed as his entire body shook, "Get off!"
He pulled the men away, men who were his father's soldiers! How could they do this to an innocent person! He kneeled down to touch the female's hand to feel it was still warm. Warm was good! Warm meant she was alive! Grabbing and picking her up into his arms, he proceeded to leave but the soldiers tried to stop him.
"Sir Rei, your father said we could. Do not get angry with us."
"My father!"
"Uh, yes. He said do whatever you want with the girl."
"So you decide to…" Rei didn't finish. Instead, he turned and walked away only to find his father before him with a deep frown.
"You do not listen, pathetic child! Leave her."
"No."
"I am your father and leader of Dragonport. Leave her."
"No," Rei held the female tighter, "You have no right to do this! She is innocent!"
"She had poisoned you! Look at you! You do not speak back to me like this! She had twisted your mind! Son, return home."
"Father," he spoke quietly and shook his head, "She did not twist my mind. You have."
"What!"
"I am leaving. I am sorry, father."
With that said, he ran pushing past his father's soldiers. Some tried to stop him, but the sun was shining so brightly, their own weapons blinded them. For Rei, it was as if the sun was sparking him a path, so he followed. Out of his city and down the path to the forest, he ran for so long, the sun was setting behind the trees.
Coming to a stop somewhere in the forest, he was breathing hard. Falling to his knees, he leaned his back against a tree and held the female close to him.
"I am so sorry," Rei apologized and then, he passed out clutching to the female in his arms.
When he came to, he felt nuzzling against his face. The purring was slowly waking up his mind and he blinked to be faced to face with Mr. Orange. The cat meowed when he woke and Rei smiled, petting the soft fur. Pushing himself to sit up, he found his eyes widened so big, they would slip right out of his head.
Before him was a white haired beauty. Before him with the Moon Goddess.
He felt his throat closed up, his heart pounding against his chest, and his eyes as wide as the moon itself. A white wolf, a grey rabbit, and a brown bear surrounded her. It was strange to see those animals surrounding the beauty, but he was mesmerized.
"You… You really are the Moon Goddess. I…" He shook his head and moved himself to bow lowly at the beautiful goddess, "Moon Goddess, I apologize. Please forgive me."
Fingers touched his hair, running through his black strands before running down his braid. Those fingers, so soft and white as a dove, touched his face and he felt as if his heart had landed in her hands. She cupped his chin, he followed, lifting his head to stare at the glowing beauty before him.
The cloth still hid the bottom half of her face, but he knew it was her.
When they were sitting in front of the fireplace, the cup would go behind the covering, so he never got to see the rest of her face. Maybe the story was right, he would cry from her beauty and that was why she had to hide the bottom half of her face.
"Sir Rei Solis," she whispered clearly, "You must become the leader of Dragonport. Your father misuses his power. His people are suffering and his soldiers have no moral. Will you fight for your father's place?"
"Is that what you wish of me?" Rei questioned and he saw her purple eyes closed.
"Go back to sleep, Sir Rei. May you wake refresh and ready for your future."
"But… I… I accept being your chosen," he grabbed her hand in his, "I will bring forth justice and protect people of this world. I promise, my Goddess."
He heard the yawn from the bear and he looked over to see the animals staring at him. The female kneeled before him, cupped both of his face and all he saw was her.
"I thank you, Rei Solis, but you are needed for this purpose. Do well."
Before he could reply, she watched his eyes drooped before the man fell against her. Letting out a deep sigh, the Moon Goddess helped the man lay down. She wiped the black hair off freckled face and sighed out a pout.
"If your father wasn't so terrible, I would have marked you right away!" She whined, "Ugh, another one missed."
She stood up and looked over at her animals watching her.
Shrugging, she crossed her arms and looked at the moon once more. 2 weeks time, the moon would be full and she would need one protector soon. The full moon represented her and the day where she was the strongest. Before, people would come together, sing and offer meals to her during a full moon. She would descend and bless them with good fortune.
Now… she wasn't sure if anyone would do such things for her openly.
Looking back at the sleeping man, she sighed again and walked to the other side of the forest. She would not see Rei Solis again. No one in Dragonport was worthy to be marked by her beside the freckled faced man. Now, even that was not an option.
When Rei Solis woke up, he was in his room. Blinking in his ceiling and red walls, he sat up rubbing his head. The events of the day prior flooded him and he clutched his chest. He had… He had met the Moon Goddess! She was beautiful like the book said. She was kind and she wanted him to…
He rubbed his face and swallowed down thickly.
Leaving his room, he nodded to the guards outside his room and they eyed him. He continued down the hall to where his father currently occupied. Rei listened to the conversation between his father and his advisors. He noted the proposition of potential war within the city to overthrow him. He narrowed his eyes when his father stated no one would be leaving the city, not even to the outskirts.
No one could leave. No one could come.
"You must become leader of Dragonport," the Moon Goddess had told him, "Will you fight for your father's place?"
'Yes. I will.'
Rei Solis would do as the Moon Goddess had asked of him. Then, he could become her chosen and love her only. Smiling to himself, he had a plan. He was no longer going to avoid things. He would listen, learn, and use it against his father.
He will succeed.
For his Goddess.
