After leading Dragonport, Moon felt defeated.
With the help of her dear wolf, she rode him through the forest for a bit, thinking to herself. She was getting weaker and she worried all night on what she should do now. Was she too picky with her choices? Was it not better to just give in to any willing person regardless if they love her or not?
She shook her head.
No.
She had to be picky. One with undying devotion to her, pure in heart and body, and met all her qualifications would be her chosen. She had to follow this or else the ties would not be strong, and her alphas would not listen. She did not want them to misuse the gift she would grant them. They were needed to protect the people of Nevrisea, not attack one another.
Petting her wolf and placing a kiss to his head, she walked out of the forest and entered the streets. The road was paved with cement, sturdy and strong. The sound of horse hooves click clacketing sounded similar to the sound of the shoes the females were wearing. Speaking of, everyone was wearing fabrics that draped down them so cleanly. Such vibrant colors and even the horses were wearing brightly colored saddles.
How was it that this city had such wealth compared to the others she had seen? How absurd to hold money as such and not help their own kind! The Moon Goddess pouted and walked into the heart of the city. There were so many people walking around, chattering about, and children chasing one another with smiles.
Her eyes brightened up.
Maybe she would find someone here!
She neared the market and looked at each person closely. There were a few that caught her eyes and she smiled to herself. The first potential was a man who was putting on a puppet show. She watched far enough to see, but not close enough to notice. The man smiled and changed his voices to match the characters, earning laughs and claps from his audience.
When they he finished and bowed to everyone, the crowd dispersed and he collected his coins. She walked to him, excited that he would be her first of many, she greeted him. She did not expect the dead stare before the man just took off without a greeting.
'Well… that was certainly rude.'
Frowning, she crossed her arms and huffed. No matter, she still had two other potential alphas!
The second man was a guard interacting with the people. She watched the man smiled, patted children's heads and bowed to the elders. Ah, that was good. He was respectful and kind. Happy to see this, Moon walked toward the guard, but paused in her steps.
There was a woman she saw with a man and a child who walked by and greeted the guard earlier. Now, that female was back, giggling and leaning against the guard. The man grinned and whispered something in her ear, before she walked behind an alleyway. The guard waited for a moment before following.
The Moon Goddess wanted to puke. Disgusting and shameless both of them were for doing something as such! She was happy she did not mark him. He would only taint people in her name.
Okay, one left.
The last potential alpha was a man behind a stall of jewelries. Each were made of different gems and ores. She couldn't help staring at the beauty of it all and her eyes caught sight of a carving of herself. It was etched into the handle of a blade with an emerald gem.
'Hm? An image of me on a blade?'
"Miss, is there anything you like? My items are all unique and authentic. Right now I have a sale going and I can give you a discount. What do you say?" The man grinned and she shook her head.
"I do not have any money, sir."
The grin fell into a scowl so fast, all it took was a blink.
"Then go away! I need paying customers, not poor ones," the man barked and shooed her away.
'What a greedy man!' She fisted her hands and frowned.
"I cannot look?"
"No!"
The Moon Goddess had never been shouted at in such… such mean ways! The only time it came close to shouting was when she accidentally broke her brother's golden leaf. She made up for it by making a silver leaf for her brother. Still, no one yelled at her like this man and she was incredibly happy that she found out his greedy ass before she marked him.
Her eyes narrowed when the man was still screaming at her. What was it now? She had to leave because he told her too? People could still come to look and buy his product! She wasn't even in the way!
"Sir," a blonde haired guard spoke up and the man quickly stopped yelling, "Is there a problem?"
"Sir," the greedy man bowed and pointed at her, "She stole a gem from me and refused to return it."
'What?!' Her mind screamed and she looked flabbergasted at the man.
First it was don't look, then go away, and now she stole? What the heck was wrong with this man!
"Sir," she bowed to the guard, "I did no such thing. I was merely looking and he started yelling at me."
"She is lying! Sir Bruins, you know me. I would not lie to you," the man stated and she could not believe what was happening. Maybe Springcall would have no one who is worthy after all!
"Miss," the blonde guard with blue eyes turned to her, "I'll need to check. Please turn and faced the wall."
She stared at the guard for a moment before doing as she was told. No need to start a war or throw a fit. She had to learn the cities and its people. She wouldn't want to die with the hands of her people! How terrible that would be!
When she felt hands on her shoulders, she felt her body tensed up. Either this guard was forward or this was what they do to all who are accused of thievery.
"Play along," he whispered and she furrowed her brows.
Those hands felt down her arms her back and her sides. She felt hands ran up her stomach and touched her breasts before they moved to palm over her ass and down her each legs.
She was burning with anger. This was not right. This must change.
"Alright," Bruin sighed and she turned to see he was holding a blue gem, "Is this what you were missing?"
"Yes! Thank you sir," the man grinned and looked at her mischievously.
"I didn't-" She tried but the guard interrupted her with a glare. Her wrist was gripped and she was being pulled out of the market to another area, but it was more quiet. There were stalls with doors and she could hear people's muffled voices.
'Wait, was this not the place that married woman and that guard ran off to?'
