Was She Too Picky?

The elder sighed and looked at the statue of the Moon Goddess.

"If I do not pray to her in a world that no longer believes, then who would be willing to do so? The Moon Goddess did not appear when my husband was plagued with diseases nor when my daughter was killed by her abuser. Yet, I pray still. Maybe I am used to it. I am not sure. But… I pray because I want to know she is real. Just once I wish to see her. I am old, miss. I will die soon."

The elder sighed and drank her tea gingerly. She felt smooth hands touched her aged ones and looked into the purple eyes.

"Your devotion is felt, Madame," the young lady spoke gently and her eyes crinkled crescents.

By the time she finished in the lady's home, she exited to find Sir Bruin Huffman was waiting outside. His blonde hair glowed white under her moon and he was staring at her sharply. She turned to bow to the elder in thanks.

"No, My Go- Miss. I thank you," the elder teared up and grinned so brightly, she looked 10 years younger. She softened her smile and cupped the elder's hands one more time.

"May you be at peace."

The older female nodded, laughing softly. The Moon Goddess walked down the steps and paused before the man. She inwardly sighed. Sir Bruin Huffman was perfect just like the others, but here she was at step one again. Maybe she would need to double check her list of requirements.

Was she too picky?

"It is getting dark. I'll bring you to the other devotee tomorrow," Bruin spoke softly and saw purple eyes looked away for a moment to stare up at the moon.

The Moon Goddess dropped her shoulders and sighed. Her poor moon. It still shines but she knew it should be illuminating much brighter. The night of the full moon was coming and she hoped she could find at least one man who fit her requirements.

Although it brought an abundance of power to her, her power also touched her people. People became higher strung and their inhibition were not as controlled, so it was important for her to have her alpha protecting the people in case trouble arises.

'At least there is still some devoted to me,' she sighed.

Sir Bruin watched the female staring longingly at the moon. He reached out, subconsciously, to grab her strands. Dark black hair soft in his hands and through his fingers. He looked to see she was watching him and under the moonlight sky, she glowed in her white dress.

"Sir Bruin," her soft voice whispered and he let her hair go, "Have a good night."

"Let me walk you-"

"I will be fine, Sir Bruin Huffman. Sleep well."

The Moon Goddess walked away toward the exit of the city. Inwardly, she was pouting and huffing, upset that no one in the city of Springcall met her requirements.

'My requirements are not that terrible! They are all needed!' She pouted and crossed her arms, 'A devoted man. A loyalist to me. Handsome. Kind. Generous. Level-headed. No families. No lovers. No children. That is all, I think…'

She was counting each point on her fingers as she was walking across the street. Suddenly, she felt arms wrapped around her and pulled her back quickly. Her purple eyes widened and realized a carriage carried by horses rushed by into Springcall. She caught a glance of a female with purple hair and narrowed green eyes sitting in the back holding fan.

'I could have been hurt…'

"Are you alright, Miss Moon?"

She turned to see worried blue eyes searching her face and body to make sure she was alright. Her trembling fingers were gripping his shirt and she could barely speak. She had never had something like this happen before. She almost died?! Right? She could've died…

Arms wrapped around her and that was when she realized how hard she was breathing. Shutting her eyes, she did her best to take a deep breath. He lifted her up and she was being carried back into the city of Springcall. Her eyes caught the eyes of her lovely bear watching her be carried away. The beast waved and she found her lips curling up.

'Silly Beary.'

The Moon Goddess did not say anything when Bruin opened his door and brought her in. She did not say anything when she was placed onto the bed. She did not say anything when the blonde man brought her tea. She did not say anything when a warm cloth was placed on her calloused feet.

'So kind,' she sighed into the tea, 'Only if you devote yourself to me, Sir Bruin, you'd be perfect.'

She was pouting and imagining finally marking someone. Oh, her life would be so much better! She wouldn't have to worry so much about the upcoming full moon or her diminishing power. She giggled with her eyes closed and the tea in her hands. Ah, soon. Soon she wouldn't have to worry too much about it.

"Miss Moon," Bruin quirked his lips, "Are you enjoying being pampered?"

"Mm," she smiled and nodded, "I certainly never was pampered this way before. You cleaning my feet… It tickles."

The blonde grinned and continued to clean her feet. She moved her teacup under her face cloth and drank the lemon tea. She made a please sound and sighed.

"Are you single, Sir Bruin?"

"Why? You offering?" Bruin questioned with a chuckle.

"I cannot have a lover," the Moon Goddesss shrugged.

"Why?" The blonde warrior finished wiping down her feet and placed the towel back into the bathroom.

"Mm," she shrugged again and placed the tea cup at the side table.

The blonde returned and helped pull the covers under her to tuck her in.

"Hm? You are letting me spend the night?"

"Unless you want me to accompany you home?" Bruin quirked his brow and sat at the side of her bed.

She laughed and his blue eyes softened hearing the sweet tone. He reached to touched her face, fingers lightly running over her covered bottom half of her face. His blue eyes stared into purple ones and he really wanted to see the rest of her face. From what he could see, she was a pretty lady, but he was sure Moon was beautiful underneath all the coverings.

'Wait…' his cheeks warmed and he pulled away clearing his throat.
