"Sleep well."
"Thank you, Sir Bruin. You… have not answered my question."
He smiled and made a movement of his fingers across his lips as if he was zipping his mouth. Leaving the room, Bruin sat on the couch with his hand covering his mouth. He sighed and shook his head. He shouldn't have treated her as such. He shouldn't have cleaned her feet and pampered her.
'But it was dirty.'
He told himself but he could not help the way her feet was soft despite the light callouses. Each toes, each foot, were soft and he knew the rest of her skin would be too.
"Ugh," Bruin groaned and wiped his face.
Tomorrow, he'd be busy. That was good. He wouldn't be able to look at Moon or her feet the same again.
The next day came and Bruin left the house before Moon woke. Leaving his home, he grabbed his sword and headed to meet with his leader. As he was going, his fellow warriors were staring at him with curious eyes. He quirked a brow at them, but they turned away as if they were not just staring at him.
Narrowing his blue eyes, he saw his leader and family before him. He bowed and greeted them, but the room was unusually quiet.
"Sir Bruin," the leader of Springcall smiled, "Miss Rebecca from Rosemount is here to meet you."
He nodded, but his leader hesitated.
"I was told you have… brought a woman to your home."
"…"
"…"
"Yes."
"Is she important to you?" His leader questioned and he didn't reply.
"Sir Bruin. You are my top guard, my number one warrior. Miss Rebecca is the daughter of the leader in Rosemount. You know this, correct?"
He nodded.
"She is here to meet you and if all goes well, you will be married."
"What?!" Bruin felt his brain was hurting as if he drank too much wine. Did his leader just told him… He was to be married to a woman?
He turned when another set of footsteps were heard and saw the female with purple hair and green eyes walking toward him. Her dress was intricately designed with the emblem of roses. She was waving her fan on her face with a flat look that said she did not wish to be here as well.
"Miss Rebecca, this is Sir Bruins," Springcall's leader introduced.
The blonde warrior held her hand and placed a gentle kiss to her knuckles. He smiled, offered to show her around the town, but the whole time he was thinking of his predicament. Why was this happening to him? Seriously! Why him?
Was this a way for Rosemount and Springcall to unite? He understood why he would be chosen since he was Springcall's top warrior. The leader had no son, only two daughters, so it was understandable the fate would fall on him, but it didn't mean he liked it. He glanced over at the purple haired female beside him and saw she was looking at everything from under her perfect nose.
"Ugh, Is there anywhere that isn't so smelly?" The female frowned and his eye twitched.
"What type of food do you like, Miss Rebecca?" He questioned with a gritted smile.
"What do you have to offer?" She questioned and Bruin knew today was going to exhaust him.
By the time the day was over and he said goodnight to the female, he was happy to finally get home and shower. He wondered how Moon's day was and if her feet was feeling better. Entering, he didn't see her anywhere. His heart trembled, but he let out a sigh, shaking his head.
Well, what did he expect? He still did inappropriate things to her, so tucking her in bed was not going to erase all of that. Sitting in his bath, he knew the ball was tomorrow and he frowned.
"Was that why it was being thrown so early in the season?" He wondered aloud, "This was planned then."
Bruin Huffman was not one ready to settle down, but he was forced to marry a woman he barely met. When he closed his eyes, the face of Moon appeared and he sighed.
'What have you done to me?'
The Moon Goddess had returned to the forest that day. It took her half a day to arrive back into the forest, but she needed to return to look through her requirements. Also, so her dear animals could help her with the map of the land.
From above, she saw the world differently than she did on land. It was much larger and moving from one city to the next took a long time. Maybe a horse would help her better. This way, she wouldn't accidentally get hit by a carriage like last night. The thought of that made her shook with fear and in this fear she thought of children and people in her place.
It made her so terribly sad.
"Okay, my dear friends," she spoke up to her animals, "I already gone to Wolftown, Winterhallow, Flathand, Dragonport, and Springcall. There are how many more again?"
Her bunny thumped 4 times.
"Mm, four more? I see… where are they located?"
Her brown bear had marked a patch on the ground lining the path of the world and rivers. Her wolf palmed where the cities were located. She circled and added the names of the cities she had visited, so she knew where she was and who she met.
"Mm, I can't remember what the other names are…"
Her animals gave her a deadpanned look and she smiled nervously. She was not the best at remembering things well and she was asleep for a long time! They could give her a break, couldn't they? She pouted and she heard footsteps neared her. Looking to the sound, her face brightened as she got up to run toward her brother.
"Sister, you look happy. Glad to see you aren't so pouty tonight," her dear brother smiled and she stuck out her tongue.
"I didn't find anyone yet, but I can't give up!" She fisted her hand and pumped upward, "One. Just one is enough for now."
She felt the pats to her head and she pulled her brother to the map she and her woodland creatures made. She stared at her brother and watched the shirtless man stared at the map for a moment. Golden eyes glanced at her face, seeing the approval in bright eyes. The Sun God sweatdropped and cleared his throat.
"Your map is… nice, sister."
