"Huh? I didn't say that," grey eyes blinked at her and Benjamin looked toward his brother.
"You implied it," Charles shook his head at his twin, "You basically said you were strong and then lifted her without permission instead of I don't know… the filled bookshelf, for example."
"…"
"…"
"Uh…"
"Brother, put her down," Charles rolled his eyes, "As the oldest, I suppose I should read to you what manners are… again."
"Ugh, you are only older by a few seconds!" Benjamin pouted and sent an apologetic smile to the female in his arms. Slowly putting her down, he cleared his throat with his cheeks flushing.
"Apologize," Charles crossed his arms with his notebook in hand.
"Shut up," the younger twin pouted before looking at the Moon Goddess and bowing, "Sorry, Miss Moon."
"I accept your apology," she laughed and patted his head. This earned her a brilliant grin and shiny grey eyes. It reminded her of one of her wolves when they received a treat from her.
'Ah~ So cute!'
She was heading out of the shop when she paused. Maybe they could point her in the right direction of a believer of hers. That would certainly help her save time and energy. So, turned back to look at the twins, she smiled.
"Sir Charles, Sir Benjamin, do either one of you know someone in the city who worships the Moon Goddess? Someone who is truly devoted?"
She watched as both men looked at one another. They seemed to be speaking through their eyes with no words and she couldn't help being reminded of her brother and herself. They were not twins, but they were so close, sometimes they knew what each other were thinking. It became a game at one point and it made her heart warm thinking of the fun times.
"Miss Moon," Charles walked toward her, "Here in these times, people tend not to worship openly, but Oxharbor has some who still do."
"Our mother is one!" Benjamin quickly added and a smack on his chest from his brother caused him to groan, "Ack!"
"Hush! Big brother is speaking," Charles reprimanded and the younger twin glared.
"Just because you're older, by 3 seconds, does not mean you are better!" Benjamin huffed and Charles glared at him.
This always happened to them. It was almost normal at this point and their poor mother was probably ignoring their bickering at this point. Just because they were twins, did not mean they would agree to everything. Like, the fact that Charles was smarter or Benjamin was stronger.
"May I meet her?" Moon questioned and they were so busy glaring at one another, they almost forgot she was there.
"Well, since you did spend your time telling me all about the Sun God and the Moon Goddess, I suppose you can," Charles cleared his throat and headed out of the shop.
Moon followed along with Benjamin and she watched Charles closed his shop. When she told him he didn't need to, the older twin only said there were hardly anyone going to his shop anyways. Following the twins, she smiled at the people walking by. The city of Oxharbor was quite nice and she wondered who the leader of the city was. Whoever it was, they knew how to run their city.
People were happy. The place was clean. The people are respectful.
'Yet, if Oxharbor is doing so well, why have they not helped their neighboring city? Baystall is in need of assistance,' she sighed and her smile fell to her natural state, 'Maybe I can speak with the leader.'
They came to a nicely built home, almost incredible if she was honest. Pillars held up the second floor balcony of the white home. The bushes were neatly trimmed and the entire place was presentable. She saw a few men and woman working the yard.
'Are they… workers?' She wondered and heard the door to the house open.
"Hm? Both of my boys here? Did you two get in a fight again?" The nicely dressed female with graying hair laughed.
"Mama," Benjamin skipped to his mother and peeked her cheek.
"Mother," Charles greeted walking to the female and peeking the other cheek, "We brought a friend. She taught us much of the Sun God and the Moon Goddess."
The smile on the elder female fell and her grey eyes stared at the friend her sons brought. A female about their age with long black hair and pretty purple eyes. Not much skin was showing, but there was enough to see the female was not a worker.
"Hello, young lady," she greeted and the female walked closer to bow to her.
"Madame, it is nice to meet Sir Charles and Sir Benjamin's mother. My name is Moon."
"Moon, interesting name," the older female smiled and waved them inside.
The Moon Goddess felt it. Like a hug and a pat, she could feel the devotion for her. Moon was glad it wasn't a lie and she was glad to know someone still loved her. Sitting on the couch, both men sat beside her. A woman brought them tea and she stared at the female for a moment, before she left them alone.
"Miss Moon," the owner of the house spoke up and the young female blinked her purple eyes at her, "What is it you want with my boys? Wish to marry one?"
"Mother," Charles reprimanded sharply, "Why must you always say that to anyone we bring over?"
"Cause those you bring over wanted to be your lover," his mother retorted quickly and Charles couldn't reply back because… it was true. He glanced over to his twin and saw Benjamin's lightly tanned cheeks reddened and the man was side eyeing Moon, obviously interested.
Frowning, he looked at the young female wondering why his twin seemed so interested in her. Her body is well enough, there didn't look to be any ailment she had, and she smelled nice. What else was there? Purple eyes turned to him and he saw them crinkled into crescents. His skin began warming and it was probably just cause it was warm in the house. That was all.
"Madame," Moon smiled to the older female, "Your sons are handsome and kind, but I am here because they told me you are a devotee of the Moon Goddess. Is that true?"
She waited and saw the female closed her grey eyes. The room was silent for a moment and she wondered if it was true. She could feel the loyalty from the home, but with so many people in and out of the house… it didn't mean it was from the owner who believed in her.
"I am, yes," the mature female smiled, "My Charles had asked me to tell him stories about her since he was a boy."
"I wanted to hear too!" Benjamin pouted and his mother waved it off.
"You see, their grandfather was quite a worshipper. He would cut his hand and offered his blood, even forced my mother to do the same. Sometimes, I think he loved her more than my mother. I am sure she felt the same, but the Moon Goddess was just that. No need for her to come see us, right?"
Moon felt like a knife stabbed her.
