I Will Protect Her

The Moon Goddess smiled and thanked all three men.

"I shall go. I wish you all the best and thank you, Sir Charles for speaking with your mother."

She left them in the Librarian shop and all three men took a moment before grey eyes stared at the blonde.

"Bruin," the older twin stated sternly, "What we just witness from you, you best forget about Miss Moon if you are actually going to marry Miss Rebecca."

"Yeah! What was that! Don't touch her like that," Benjamin narrowed his eyes with crossed arms.

"Eh, don't be upset with me. I was worried about her since she left Springcall alone at night. That is all," the blonde man held his hands up to surrender, but grey eyes continued to just stare at him.

"You are getting married so you don't have to think about her anymore," the younger twin grinned, "I'll worry about her."

"Why?" Bruin questioned and the young brunette chuckled.

"Cause I like her. She's pretty and nice. I am also strong, so I can protect her," Benjamin stated lifting and flexing his arms.

"I have a sword," Bruin frowned.

"So?"

"A sword is a better protection than fists."

"No, it isn't."

"I am certain it is."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"Enough," Charles slammed his notebook on the counter and stared at them both, "First off, Bruin, why are you fighting my brother at all. If you do not have feeling for Miss Rebecca, you should not go through with the wedding. Secondly, brother, stop acting like such a puppy around her. Miss Moon was only passing by. We may never see her again."

Charles crossed his arms and stared at Bruin who sighed. The blonde nodded and looked at the door Moon had just left from.

"For the sake of the cities, I must."

"If so, forget about Miss Moon. You have that look that my brother has, but you hide it better," Charles stated and picked up the invitation, "Facts are you could fall in love with Miss Rebecca as time passes. The books said so, but it would take a lot of work. If you are willing to put in the effort for your Springcall, then another woman should not catch your eyes."

Bruin sighed and cupped Charles shoulder. Smiling, he nodded in agreement.

"I know, Charles. Thank you. I will go now."

The twins watched the blonde warrior leave and Benjamin stared at the older twin. Charles didn't speak much if it wasn't about his books, but he could tell the nerdy brother was holding something back.

"The full moon," Charles had mentioned and waved the invitation at him, "That is in 4 days. Let's let mother know and talk to her about what Miss Moon said."

"Mm," Benjamin nodded and waited for his brother to collect his notebook and books, "You know… When I saw her with you, brother… You looked… happy."

"That is your eyes playing tricks on you," Charles replied without hesitation, "Your brain supplied it because you were already smitten by her. Did you feel jealous?"

His older brother asked locking the door and heading down the street.

"No… I mean kind of but… I've never seen you look like that before," Benjamin admitted and looked at the stars sprinkling over the sky, "If you like her, Charles, I will not pursue her."

Charles stopped walking and stared at his little brother. Grey eyes watched him before Benjamin smiled and he found himself confused. Even with his confusion, he felt his face warming up to the thought that his brother would hold back his attraction to Moon for him. Not once did his twin offered such things.

"Thank you," he smiled and cupped his brother's shoulder, "But what kind of fun is that? Give me a challenge baby brother."

"Hah! Alright! I'm not giving up," Benjamin grinned and they ran home, pushing each other as they went.

Rosemount.

The city most of the guys she met had said she belonged to. To be honest, they were right. The ground was paved and glossy. It made her wonder how no one slipped yet. There were greeneries everywhere. Rose bushes and stoned walls, water fountains and intricate clothing.

Rosemount was for the rich.

No one greeted her. No one looked at her. No one cared.

It was so different, the Moon Goddess felt as if she was in a different world. They had shops like Oxharbor did, but it was more extravagant. Each store was huge with many options in just about anything. There were birds on the trees and even some children feeding them with bread. She couldn't believe her eyes.

'Is… This real?'

Going to sit down beside the large fountain in the middle of the city, she found herself just staring at the people of Rosemount. Such luxury made her almost sick. Her mind kept reminding her of Baystall and its trouble, and Winterhallow where children and elders work long hours. She didn't get to explore much of the other cities, but just knowing these two was enough for the Moon Goddess to know it was wrong.

To live in such high status without batting an eye to the poor. It made her feel even more sick.

A group of young men and women were jostling each other, laughing as if the world was fine. She wondered if they ever traveled away from this city? Would they even want to? She shut her eyes and tried to calm her beating heart. She had to remind herself that it wasn't the children's fault. They didn't know any better and maybe the leaders didn't as well.

Charles and Benjamin's mother tried and was helping Baystall, though not as well as she would like, but the elder female was trying. Wolftown tried as well and she wondered if it was Daniels idea or was it his father's to assist those in Baystall. Sighing, she looked up at the sky and smiled. Her brother was watching over her, always had and always will. She must have faith.

The sound of music filled the air and she blinked in surprise. There were laughter and claps that sounded into the air. She stood up and looked toward the commotion to see a family walking through the crowd. Aa middle aged man and woman with 2 daughters waved to everyone. They stopped at the steps up a large building.

"Hello everyone," the older man moved his arms as if patting the air as the noises settled down, "Today is my daughter's birthday."
