It was quiet as the ticking of the clock sounded in the room. Daniels thought about what the blonde warrior had asked him. Would he had done the same thing? Would he had accepted an arrange marriage for his city?
He closed his brown eyes for a moment and had to admit that if it was a month ago, he would. Now…
The image of a raven haired beauty with purple eyes entered his mind.
'Moon.'
Daniels thought long and hard since he last saw Moon at Cayden's clinic. He knew he shouldn't be feeling this way. It was too soon to feel something like love with a person he hardly knew, but it was there and he could no longer hide it. Just seeing Cayden touching Moon so tenderly…
Since then, he had returned back home and visited the elders who worship the Moon Goddess. Cayden's grandparents were pleased that he would want to join them. It caused a lot of confusion between his people, but Moon had asked if he believed in the Moon Goddess.
Maybe it was time he did.
Every morning, Daniels brought over oranges and flowers to the elders' home. They would smiled knowingly and explained how to pray to the Moon Goddess. He listened to them silently, not knowing what to pray.
"You are being strange, brother," Matthews eyed him, "Why are you praying to the Moon Goddess? I thought you did not believe in those things."
Daniels never answered his brother. They continued doing what they've always done: run their town. They had no assistance from anyone. All the cities were selfish and only wish to help themselves, so thinking it was for the best, Daniels did the same. That was just how it was. At least, until Eddrick came to visit him, speaking of trading goods.
He reluctantly agreed.
However, the thought that crossed his mind was if Moon would be proud of him. Just as that thought came, he tossed it away. Why was he thinking so much about Moon? Why couldn't she get out of his head?
He felt crazy and confused, but ever since praying to the Moon Goddess, his mind was at ease.
Maybe the Moon Goddess was real after all.
"Bruin," Daniels spoke quietly as he looked into the blonde's blue eyes, "I will admit I would before, but not now."
"Ah, what changed?" The warrior questioned sitting up straighter.
"I would rather marry someone I have feelings for. My city will understand," Daniels stated and Bruin hummed to himself for a moment.
"So," the blonde warrior spoke up, "You found love."
"…"
"Daniels? That is great to hear!" Cayden exclaimed with a laugh, "Then I suppose your wedding would be next."
"Eh? Is that not too soon?" The redhead frowned as he thought about it.
"And you, Cayden? I see you finally taken an assistant. Does that mean you are willing to leave your clinic now? Other than a friend's marriage, of course," the blonde smiled and the doctor smiled back.
Cayden James had thought about the night Moon left his clinic.
Moon… the Moon Goddess. How amazing was it for him to see her true beauty! She even wanted to bless him as her chosen alpha and he wanted to give all of him right away. However, what he said to her about the clinic was true. He was the only one who was practicing medicine in Flathand. If he were to be chosen, then there would be no doctors available to take his place.
So, making a decision, he put out letters to all who are interested in learning from under him.
He found himself bombarded with a lot of people and he weened them out by experience and passion. Surprisingly, well… not exactly, Samantha showed up. After ending with Apple and her brother Fin, Samantha was not happy she was not chosen. The female even threw money at him, telling him he could have anything of hers, but he asked her to leave.
Let's just say there were a lot of broken pots on her way out.
So teaching both siblings on the difference of herbs, of application, of all he knew, he was happy Apple picked it up easily. Fin, however, was slower, but much more passionate in helping people than his sister. Either way, Cayden was happy with who he chose.
Since knowing Moon was the Moon Goddess, he prayed everyday smiling. The moments he shared with his Goddess was enough to remind him of his new purpose.
"Judging by your smile, I would take that as yes," Bruin laughed and Daniels smirked.
"Yes," the doctor laughed, "She is beautiful. No one could compare."
"No one…" Daniels whispered to himself and the blonde rubbed his face.
"I had met someone beautiful as well," the warrior spoke quietly looking out the window from where he sat, "I wonder if I'd see her again…"
For Bruin James, he had been having nightmares of the image of Moon walking away. He would try to reach her, but she was always further from his reaches. He thought about Moon and her need to meet those who were devoted to the Moon Goddess. If he devoted himself, would she come to him again? Would he be able to get out of this loveless marriage he was forced into?
He understood his leader and the leader of Rosemount. But… were there no others who could be a better match to Rebecca? Should she not have a right to choose who she wanted to marry? The warrior had thought about if he were to refuse, what would it lead to? His leader would be disappointed, maybe angry, but that was all, right? He wouldn't be kicked out of a city he loved.
Bruin visited the two homes that were devoted to the Moon Goddess. It took a while for him to get into their good graces. He had brought them food, made sure the people were not picking on them. He even bought the father and child a meal every day. His leader spoke to him about his behavior and Bruin told him for the sake of moral, every person should be able to live happily.
It caught his leader off guard judging by the wide eyes and dropped jaw.
