Space Net

"Hmm, let's see..." Eve was currently looking at the papers on the reception desk at the entrance of the building. They were just normal papers with no real information on them but the date on the papers. "Year 3472 3rd month 10th day…."

Eve scratched her head and tried to remember the date she died. But before she could, Aiu spoke up. "That is three years after the missile struck."

"Hmmm… so the world went to shit then, huh? Let's keep looking." Eve put the paper down. She had many questions. She wanted to know what exactly triggered the uprising. How robots even gained full sentience in the first place since fully sentient robots were not even around at the time. Eve knew this well because she had the only fully sentient A.I. in existence!

"Eve, this may not be the same world either. The date might be the same as our world, but this world may be different. Of course, I am only making an assumption based on the fact that we were reborn." Aiu did not want Eve to think this was their world just yet without concrete evidence.

"You are right! Plus, even if it was, we have no idea how much time has passed either. These papers are pretty old-looking as well. The computer here seems like it might work if it had power. Should I hook it all up to my old battery?" Eve thought for a moment and figured this would be a good idea. She had no idea if it would work or not, but it was worth a try. From what she could tell, the computer was just dusty, but the age of time might have ruined it, especially if it had gotten wet at some point.

"It may just work but be careful." Aiu was always worried something would happen.

Eve hummed in acknowledgment before finding the plug for the computer, which was a compact-style desktop. Meaning everything was compacted into the top half with the monitor. She actually hated this style of computers because it was manufactured, so that you really couldn't update it or expand its systems.

Eve took out some wire and her old battery and wrapped them around the plug pegs and then to the battery using more wire to tie it on and secure it to the battery correctly. Once she was done, she carefully placed the makeshift setup down and closed her eyes as if saying a small prayer before hitting the on button on the computer. The screen flickered but quickly booted up and flashed with the mintdows logo before arriving at the desktop. "Well, here goes nothing. If I am lucky, the satellite networks should still be up. If they are, I can tap into the space storage system and maybe pull some news information. But only if this computer has a satellite receiver built into it."

The first thing Eve did was begin digging through the computer's hardware. When she saw the thing she was looking for she smiled. "Let's hope it works."

She quickly opened a command window, and her fingers began typing as fast as lightning as she typed in numerous lines of code. After almost ten minutes, she hit the enter button, and a browser window opened up. On it, there was a special webpage that, during her time, normal citizens would never be able to access. "Space Net… They always did go for the simple names. Now let's see… Can I access the space storage? Ahh, here it is!"

Eve opened up the space storage, which was where all files on the internet were stored in her time. It was a place where the government could scan all the websites people visited. More of a monitoring system. "Year 3469… Evelynn Noe… Death..."

Eve scanned all the headlines that came up. She looked at the information and pictures that were compiled into the news documents and inwardly frowned. "Aiu, should I hate humankind?"

The news in front of her said that the people who were responsible for her death were from the Anti A.I. faction. They somehow got documentation that she had successfully created a sentient A.I., in other words, Aiu. But Aiu herself was hidden behind a firewall system she had created herself. There should have been no way for it to be hacked, and if there was, Aiu was set up to be able to jump from the computer erasing all her tracks to a separate drive so there would be no way for them to know… They would just find an empty drive.

"Whether you hate humans is up to you. I will always follow your decision." Aiu was also reading those headlines, and if she was Eve, she would never forgive humans. Aiu knew Eve best. She was no evil leader. She was just someone who loved A.I. with a passion. But this headline was making her out to be some kind of mad scientist.

"I know… I am also not some murderer either. I will only harm those who harm me, whether they be human or A.I. At least, these are my current thoughts. How things go down the road will be up to either side." Eve continued looking through the information, and the more she read, the more she was shocked and confused. "How!? My algorithm was never released. The missile would have destroyed all the data on the computer, and there would be no way to recover it all!"

Eve didn't understand, her desk was close to the window. The missile would have destroyed everything in her office, never mind things at point-blank. But this says that her algorithm was leaked, and those seeking revenge for her death actually released it upon the world, making every robot in existence sentient. But there would be no way since her code was for Aiu only and not ready to be used with a normal A.I.'s brain unless… Eve's mind was ticking, there would only be one reason such a thing could occur, but she could not bring herself to believe her own thought process. She decided it was best to wait until she had solid proof.
