Many barely visible outlines could be seen walking or flying in the factory. Some of them had humanoid figures while most of them had four legs and a tail.
Sitting in awe for a few minutes, the vague figures disappeared from Wang Ming's vision.
Looking at Wang Ming's amazed expression returning to normal, Zhong Xi smiled and said, "A worldview shattering experience isn't it."
Zhong Xi passed some water to Wang Ming to drink, then signalled to Wang Ming that it's time to leave.
Outside the cow factory, Zhong Xi exchanged with Wang Ming his contact details and added him to a group chat and bade his farewell.
Looking at Zhong Xi's receding figure, Wang Ming snapped back into reality. Where was he going to stay the night? Hesitating to call out to Zhong Xi, he turned the corner and was not to be seen again.
His original house? It doesn't exist. In his previous life, he was living inside the company. As most of his work consists of meaningless data crunching.
It was not that Wang Ming hadn't thought of quitting his job before. It was because he could not. His father was once a successful gambler, but due to a stroke of bad luck, he lost and became deep in debt.
When the banks came knocking, they were prepared to take everything, and that included his family. Young Wang Ming's life was taken to a liquidation pallet to be sold.
Remembering some unpleasant memories, Wang Ming shuddered. Panning up to the night sky above and looking at the ground beneath his feet, Wang Ming felt free at last.
Perhaps sleeping like a homeless person under the most expensive bridge in the city was not a bad idea.
Suddenly, he felt a finger poke him from the back.
"Right, I forgot that you are a ghost possessing a comatose body … When I was going back I suddenly recalled that your new identity doesn't have any lodging. I turned my back to find you staring into blank space. I know that freedom is nice and all, but how am I going to answer the vice-chairman if you catch a cold. You should stay at my place tonight."
...
Opening the door of an apartment, Wang Ming entered the room to see what the interior would look like.
The inside of the room looked normal like any other except an altar that was placed on a table. Turning to look at Zhong Xi, he returned a nod.
Zhong Xi walked towards the altar pointed at it and said, "The Rogue ghost enforcement group is not in the physical world, those without cultivation need the help of a medium to enter it. Our chairman is actually not a human, he is a low leveled deva. Devas are like humans, or rather the other way round. Humans were once like devas. Devas and humans have the ability to manipulate spiritual energy, fly and do all sorts of amazing stuff. This only changed when the human bloodline started to impurify. Humans, unlike the rest, have a liking to ingest physical food which introduces impurities in their bodies. Only through cultivation can the impurities be removed. Over time, human bodies gained a physicality and cultivation became harder for them. And before long they can't go into the other realms anymore.
Alright, tomorrow I will show you how to meet the chairman, it's not hard. Now, go to sleep."
Finishing his long dialog, walked towards a charging port and plugged his mechanical body into the plug and then sat down in a meditation position.
Wang Ming felt really excited, although he did not understand much, he was already prepared to work hard.
After brushing his teeth, Wang Ming drank some water and went to bed. As he laid on the bed, many thoughts of what happened throughout the day played on repeat as Wang Ming drifted to sleep.
...
"Subject S-142, the most powerful, stable body and well formed brain to support intelligence. President, what do you think?"
"Good. Good. Good. This body is suitable for my ambitions. Creating a clone mixed with my genes and those mythical creatures was a good idea."
Now I need to survive until this vessel is of age to sustain a brain transplant.
A burning ambition could be seen in the yellow whites in the man's eyes.
A mixture of growth hormones and proteins was released inside the incubator containing S-142.
Aged ten, "Wooh, daddy look I destroyed all of them!" Taking off the simulation headset, the little kid jumped in happiness announcing his achievements in beating all the zombies in a game.
The little kid looked at his father's indifferent eyes before attempting to consoleing him. "Daddy, don't worry about me, although I am sick and will die soon, I am not afraid of death!"
The old man revealed a smile and replied, "Zhao Yun please don't be sad, my heart will always be with you. Even after death."
The old man continued, "There will be an important surgery tomorrow, so sleep early tonight. Goodbye."
The old man walked out of the room and shut the door gently. He then mumbled to himself, "My life ends tomorrow, but I will cheat death. Unlike my predecessors who failed to brain rejection, I shall be the first one to succeed.
Later that day.
"Alright, begin the surgery to transplant the president's brain into the subject." A surgeon dressed in a white surgical suit overlooked the robot doing the surgery. His eyes staring intently at it executing its programmed task.
The surgeon was confident in the success of the surgery. He was just worried that the body would reject the brain that was transplanted like all the previous patients who wanted to escape death.
Although he was told that this body is special, he was still sceptical.
BrrBrr. A familiar sound rang in his ears, and a red dot notification that looked very tempting to press appeared in front of him.
Opening the notification, the surgeon had received great news. The surgery was a success.
Now, all was left for the patient to wake up.
…
Wang Ming got up from bed and rubbed his eyes. Although he did not manage to remember that much from the dream, he could vaguely recall this body's father and some other unimportant parts. As a gesture of gratitude for a second chance at life, he thanked him from the bottom of his heart.
