Hey hey hey look who it is. That little transaction the other day which I feel like I did flawlessly by the way. It just felt as if it just came out so naturally. Maybe it's my near completion with learning the language?
After I met Marissa It really wasn't an issue even Ren talked in the language so I could complete it faster. In any case, It was pretty smart of me to tell the man to spread the word about me.
I just hope he doesn't go telling a guard or something… Naa he wouldn't do that. Right?
Well anyway after that conversation I met up with Ren, who seemed to spend all my money on buying the things for the spell. So I guess this side gig might be more impotant than I thought.
Surprisingly when I met back up with Ren It seemed Marissa was worried about me. How nice. Though she probably thinks I'm frail after Ren clobbered me. So a bit insulting if you look at it like that.
When we got home Ren immediately went into the underground room and cleared it out. So I guess my new room is permanently on the first floor now. Not that I mind. The only thing Ren had to bring up for me was my clothes.
The clothes I had worn from my other world were kinda like an artifact of what once was so I didn't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon. Marissa even had them cleaned for me. Well she did the same thing for Ren to...
So after a quick nap, my sleep schedule was even weirder. Since I would have to be meeting people at sunset and stay up at night to fight the monsters I basically had the opposite of a normal person's sleep schedule.
It's fine though I'm used to waking up at estranged times. What I'm not used to is having a job. Which this basically is. I've never applied for one before and the thought of having to work with other people didn't sit well with me.
I guess this was different though. For one I was working alone, no boss to tell me what to do. Second, my job was just getting slime gems which I could do easily. Finally, it was a perfect way to get cash.
It should have been a win-win. Well not really. Right now I've been sitting in a "secret" room in the library waiting for anyone to show up. Literally, the sun is about to go down any sec now.
I guess it's a good thing that when I came in here I made sure to tip the guy running the place. I just wanted him to ignore anything he heard but instead, he gave me this little room to do business in. Maybe this is more common than I thought?
Well Damn, I guess I should have known people wouldn't come. They probably thought it was too sketchy or just totally fake. Seeing how strict the security is, I wouldn't be surprised if people thought this was some type of trap.
Ohh well, I guess I'll try once more tomorrow and just give up after that.
I get up out of my seat with a sigh and push my seat into the table. As soon as im ready to leave the room the door opens and some old guy walks in.
"Is it true you can get the beast's heart?"
I can feel myself calm down after I digest what he said. I guess the beast heart isn't just some scary story to tell kids but instead a common thing people call it.
More importantly, It's my first customer! You're a bit late but I'm happy at least someone came.
Ok, let's do this.
At first, my conversation with the guy starts out quite awkwardly with him being scared it's a trap and me awkwardly trying to convince him it's not. We didn't have much time to do this either. I would say we had about 10 minutes to talk and get out of there.
Man, It went so much smoother when I talked to that father and little girl. I felt so disconnected yet I knew what I was doing? It kinda reminds me of when I went berserk on some slimes. Maybe it just happens when I focus too much?
Well, I guess I'm not focusing then! Because this conversation is not going smoothly at all. It looks about like the other person is about to leave. Damn, think! What did I do the first time?
Suddenly I remembered how I had just shown the father the slime gem the first time. Whoops, That should have been the first thing I did. As soon as it looks as if the man is going to leave I rummage through my pockets.
After a bit of panic and second thinking of If I even had any leftover slime gems on me, I finally found the last remaining gem that I had left on me.
Let's just say after I showed him that the situation totally changed. The man started calming down and so in turn so did I. We started actually getting to business about what he should give me for it. We didn't have a lot of time left so this would have to be swift.
I didn't care what I got for It. Thinking back it seems people here value them much more. Why can't they just kill some slimes? It's not that hard…
After a bit of talking, I realized the man didn't have the most money in the world. I could kinda tell by his dirty and slightly ruffled clothing anyway. So In the end the deal ended with one slime gem for just random things the man had on him.
Which turned out to be a short sword, kids' book, some bread, 2 knives, 2 copper-looking coins, and a toy-looking thing. I just took whatever he put on the table and left or what I could carry.
I decided to take the short sword and the two dagger-looking things. Everything else he had just wasn't worth me taking or I felt like he needed more than me. The poor man tried saying I could have all of it but I rejected having to carry all of that would be a pain anyway.
Once I get to one of the many roads in this town I see more guards than people walking around. I wonder why the guards won't stay up at night to make sure nobody stays up? kinda dumb.
I look down at my hand and decide to check out my stats screen, to pass the time. Don't worry, after checking with Marissa our stats screen is invisible to other people. I also learn that me and Ren are the only people with "stats screens".
Marissa had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to explain it to her. So I guess me and Ren have something in common.
Nothing Involving my stats has changed since last time. I'm just curious about my stage in learning the language. Which by the way I'm almost done with as of currently I'm on stage 9/10.
I wonder what will come next? I hope it's something as useful as LTL, maybe something that will help me learn magic. Ya now that would be cool.
Within my deep thoughts of gawking over the idea of learning to throw a fireball, I might have forgotten my surroundings. You see, to my surprise I suddenly bump into a hard metal object. Thinking I might have hit a structure I look up confused wondering why there's a metal pole in the middle of the street.
Uhh, that's definitely not a pole. Poles normally don't have the figure of a person or wear metal armor. Whoops, I just bumped into a guard. Instinctively I go for my hood and thankfully it was still on so I pull it down slightly lower than normal to cover my face.
Black eyes and hair are a big no-no in this town. It's basically the one feature that separates us from other people.
The guard after getting slightly pushed looks behind them and obviously sees me standing there like an idiot.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"
The blond-haired guard speaks loudly but with femininity. Since my head is down its not like I can confirm it but ya its probably a girl.
"Uh ya my bad."
Yooo I still suck at talking with people? Man, I gata learn this whole conversation thing faster.
The guard looks as if she's about to say something but stops herself. She lets out a sigh and puts her hand on my shoulder.
"Come on what are you doing out here you know it's almost dark out right?"
As she speaks I'm able to get a peek at her face which shows a genuinely concerned face. This stupid nighttime rumor. They even got adults to believe it to it seems.
"Ya that's my bad" Saying that I turn towards the direction of the alleyways.
"Wait a minute!"
I stop not bothering to turn around. Did she some hoe figure it out? How? Did I not hide my face good enough?
"Hmm never mind carry on" She responds after hesitating for way too long.
She didn't have to tell me I sped walked out of there as fast as I could. Just before disappearing into the alleyways, I was able to hear one last thing from her.
"What a strange speaker…"
Finally, after the second awkward conversation for the day, I'm able to return home. Straight home this time. I was planning on getting a bit of rest and heading out for the night. If I'm serious about this whole business thing I gata get more of these slime gems or "beast hearts".
It's too bad that as soon as I stepped one step into the house I saw two women standing there one of them arms crossed. I wonder why? What? Am I not allowed to leave the house without telling anyone?
If anything Marissa was much more mad than Ren. Ren just seemed annoyed I kept disappearing. Marissa tho acted more concerned asking questions. Not ganna lie I have beenkinda been flaking on her.
Shes asked me earlier today if I could go over to her place to check something. "Check something" ya ok purple-haired witch I don't what you going to check but im fine.
Too bad when they were scolding me they found the 2 daggers and sword I got from the guy I gave the slime gem to. After that whole ordeal was over I lost a total of two daggers to Ren and barely kept my sword.
I finally got back into my room and fell down onto my bed. Not going to lie I kinda liked my room in the hidden room under the house but by now Ren had basically renovated that whole space for the teleportation spell.
Looking over at the shelf I see my old clothes from my old world. They were much more comfortable than the stuff I got on now but wearing them was too dangerous which is the reason we don't wear them, simply gathering dust.
Hmm. I walk over to the clothes and see they'd been clean recently. You know, since nobody comes out at night, maybe it's fine to wear them. Ya, why not. And since ill be wearing them maybe I can do something else to...
Maybe tonight going to be the night.
