That's A Lot Of Crying

Things have been getting weirder and weirder. I didn't even know that was possible.

Marissa has not been by the house today. Now usually that's fine, I would love some alone time without her bugging me but Sara is here. And of course, she's been off all day, I mean Marissa probably went out early, not that big of a deal.

What are we doing right now? Well, I'm reading and Sara is..? I peek over my book and look over at Sara next to me on the couch, she is either talking to herself or sleeping.

Oh my god.

I slam my book close and stretch. Sara is startled out of whatever trance she was in. I get up and grab my cloak hanging on the coat hanger next to the door.

"Where are you going?" Sara is already up off the couch. I raise my eyebrow at her.

"We're going out. C'mon." I throw my hood over my head and I can feel Sara grab a bit of my cloak but she follows me out the door.

Bright ass sun, that's what I found so weird about this world, it's so vibrant but at this point, my eyes are used to it, I guess that's why Akari stays inside. Dunno, don't care.

All I care about is getting Sara to not mope around.

It's annoying.

She just left for the day like god, attachment issues much?

Me and Sara leave the alleyways and are basically pushed into the crowd of people in town square.

"How about we go to that new tavern?" I glance over to Sara and she nods at my suggestion.

We head down the road towards the tavern, like last time. My migraines have gone away though so I'm actually excited to visit the tavern.

When we arrive, it's… closed?

No, they left, they just deserted the place.

I feel Sara back up a bit and let go of me.

The used to be bustling tavern is boarded at the windows and locked up tight with a sign on the door, with what Marissa taught me was the seal of the country.

I guess that's why no one is around, avoiding run-ins with people from the capital.

"Huh, no more tavern then, why not go down to the mar…ket?"

I turn around to find Sara frozen in place, she looks freaked.

Fuck.

I am not good at calming people down.

"Hey Sara don't worry, I'm sure everythings- hey! Sara!"

I went in to give that bitch a hug but instead, she grabs my arm and starts towards the alleyways.

My hood falls off because of the dumbass wind.

We're headed towards the center of town where Marissa's house, shop, whatever you know what i mean.

When we arrive it's like Sara is in tunnel vision and barges through the back door and runs up the stairs.

I don't even know what she's doing. I follow her up the stairs but unlike Sara I'm normal.

For a second I question where she went but from all that racket she's going through Marissa's stuff. I lean on the doorway and look at how she's frantically searching for something, she still has not said a word to me. Mumbling, yeah, but it's not directed at me.

Marissa's usual neat room is thrown apart, I doubt Sara did that in the five-second head start she got from running.

It's kinda pathetic, to be honest. Marissas gone for, what, a business trip? My mom used to go on those all the time. I dunno, Sara has barely talked to me.

Her frantic tossing of items comes to a halt as she gently picks up a letter that looked buried under a couple of books on the nightstand.

She gently opens it and takes out a letter. Huh, well of course Marissa would leave a note if she was going out.

Well, this was a waste of time, I've been telling her there's nothing to worry abo-

"No, no, no, no, no, no, NO!!"

Sara's scream cuts off my train of thought and the letter falls out of her hand. If she was freaking out beforehand she's now out of it.

"Hey, hey Sara, it's alright."

I walk over to Sara who is situated next to the nightstand and under the window. I get on my knees and hug her from the side.

"No, no, no" she's just muttering no, over and over. Goddamn it.

"Sara!" I shake her and that doesn't snap her out of it. Instead, I grab her face with both of my hands so she's properly facing me.

I put our foreheads together. And that's what startled her.

"You're ok, we're ok."

I back up a bit and I can see the tears, I wipe some but she keeps crying, I must have opened the floodgates because she puts her head on my chest, wraps her arms around my waist, and starts ugly crying.

Great.

I look at the letter Sara had dropped and pick it up. I mean she's not gonna stop anytime soon so why not let her tire herself out?

Oh.

I should not have joked about Saras' abandonment issues like that.

Whoops.

I fold it back up and place it back where I got it.

I hold Saras head and continue rubbing her back.

Shit.
