The dark haired boy sprinted towards the elevator, not wanting to be in these long, dimly lit corridors longer then necessary.
When he saw the doors closing he yelled for who ever was in there to wait and to his surprise they really did because the doors opened again.
With a slight jog he went into the elevator.
He hastily pressed the button for the ground floor and waited for the thing to start moving before he turned towards the other person, standing next to him in the small, stinking metal box.
His breath got stuck in his throat when he looked up at the the large grizzly bear of a man, who's frame occupied more then half of the space, giving the boy not much space to move.
Without thinking his eyes wandered upwards to the face of the older man.
The first thing he noticed where those tired, silvery gray eyes.
He didn't understand why but something in them just resonated with him. They just gave him the feeling that the man would be able to understand him on a level nobody else seemed to be able to.
Whiles continuing to stare into those ghostly gray orbs he made up his mind and decided that he would try to befriend this giant, scary looking bear of a man, no matter the cost.
"Got a problem?" The guy suddenly asked, his deep, raspy voice echoing slightly the tiny elevator.
The boy shook his head.
He could feel his face heating up in embarrassment and even his heart skipping a beat for some reason.
With a shaky breath he forced himself to look away, not wanting to piss off this older men even more then he already seemed to have done.
"Uhm... I'm Alex... I moved in today...!" The boy awkwardly stammered, in an attempt to start a conversation.
But it didn't seem to work, because the older man just continued to glare at the elevator doors and showed no sign that he had even heard what Alex had said.
"Uhm... what's your name sir?" He tried again with his eyes still fixated on the floor.
When they reached the ground floor and the doors started to open Alex had already given up on ever getting an answer but then suddenly the men grumbled "Schneider. I live next door to you so keep the noise down."
Without waiting another second mister Schneider exited the elevator and walked towards the main entrance of the building.
Ed sight in relief when he exited the building and didn't hear the footsteps of this annoying boy behind him.
If there was one thing he hated even more than having to deal with people he didn't know then it was having to deal with teenagers or generally anybody under the age of twenty five.
They just had to much energy, no matter what they did.
Sure he had been like that too when he was that age but now all this hectic and bussing around only manged to give him a headaches.
Ed slandered down the street with his usual blank expression. He walked past the moving truck where a small, middle aged woman was unloading some heavy looking furniture and was about to round the street corner when he heard that boy run up to him while screeching his name.
So much for keep the noise down, Ed thought and stopped, knowing full well that he neither had the energy nor the determination to out run this stupid boy.
"Mister Schneider!" The boy coughed, when he had finally caught up with the older man.
Before he had gotten his breath back mister Schneider spoke up.
"Don't smoke so much. It's bad for you."
Stunned Alex looked up. He couldn't tell if the man was joking or trying to give him a serious life advice, so he just replied "Uhm I don't somke..."
Again the man didn't showed any emotion besides this 'I'm so done with all this shit.' look he seemed to always have.
When Alex already thought that that was the end of there conversation, if you could even call it that mister Schneider replied.
"Good." Was all he said and then pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the pocket of his leather jacket.
He slowly took out one of those cancer sticks, light it up and took a long drag from it.
When Alex argued that that wasn't good for his health the man bowed down uncomfortably close and blow out the smoke right into his face.
The thick, gray smoke made Alex eyes burn but he at least managed not to cough from it.
"What the fuck do you want?" Mister Schneider asked, seemingly getting more and more annoyed by the situation.
"Uhm well I... uhm...well you see..." Alex stupidly stuttered while mentally cursing himself for being such an awkward loser.
But on the other hand he was also glad that the old man didn't seem to get even more pissed off by his stuttering. Instead the guy just stood there smoking his cigarette while patiently waiting for Alex to finally get out a complete sentence.
He took a deep breath to calm his nerves and then just blurted out what had been on his mind ever since he had layed eyes on the man.
"I want to be your friend!"
Mister Schneider seemed surprised for a split second but then he went back to his usual expression and simply just said "Fuck off." before he walked away.
