How Brave

Reynard's father, Heri Sall, was feeling headache over this troublemaking brat in front of him. He had heard about Reynard's splendid performance back at school, but he didn't expect to see this prodigal son to be wasting his time at a restaurant when he was supposed to be studying.

"Reynard, you better explain why you're here." Heri's voice was stern.

Reynard gulped down. "I… lost a bet with Master… I mean with Ann and thus I bring her here to treat her for a meal."

Master?

Ann?

While Heri was baffled, Zach was silently watching the young girl in front of him. She was wearing the school uniform and stood in leisure pace. Her action made her look like she was strolling on a street rather than coming in an expensive restaurant.

At the same time, she looked so calm and composed in front of him and Heri. Zach knew very well that many people didn't even dare to look at him directly, yet the young girl even sized them up as they talked with Reynard.

How brave.

Her clear jade colored eyes were watching them with interest. There seemed to be nothing more that she was thinking aside from wondering what they were going to do.

"What bet?" Heri's face was awful.

"Uh… martial arts?" Reynard said carefully. He knew that his father would find it hard to believe considering that Ann's body was leaning to the slender type. In fact, she looked so soft that one would find it difficult to link her with martial arts.

As expected, Heri was baffled. He took a deep breath. "If you want to lie, you should lie better."

"I'm not lying." Reynard was aggrieved. He looked at Ann, asking for her help.

Ann was intending to just watch the show, but she noticed that Reynard was looking at her. Her lips twitched slightly as she sighed internally. It seemed that she would have no other choice but to proceed with talking.

"Reynard is not lying, Mr. Sall." Her clear voice rang in the corridor.

Zach's dark pupil was staring deeply at the young girl who dared to speak at this time as there was a strange trace of feeling deep in his heart. He didn't know why, but he wanted to continue looking at this young girl who was merely standing in front of him and supposedly having no relationship with him.

Heri looked at Ann. He knew that Reynard was bringing a girl along. But when he saw her, he was stunned to see her face. Even though Ann didn't wear a makeup, it was also a fact that her face was one of the few exquisite beauty that would stand out even without wearing any makeup.

She looked so pretty.

"You are?"

"Ann," Ann paused for a moment. "Davis Family just adopted me two days ago."

Davis Family?

It was not an unfamiliar name for them. Zach recalled the report that his subordinate brought to him as he looked at Ann with interest. He didn't care much about the report back then, but now that he saw the young girl, he felt that she was really interesting.

He didn't know why, but he just wanted to continue staying close to her.

It was a strange feeling, one that he had never thought he had.

Heri nodded. "I see, you're another child that they try to adopt…."

He stopped when he recalled the real reason as to why Davis Family had been trying to adopt a child over the past year. It would be better if he didn't try to say it in front of Ann or it would turn messy.

"Are you saying that you can do martial arts?" Heri changed the conversation. He frowned when he saw her slender figure as he couldn't imagine her as someone who could do martial arts.

"Yes." Ann was calm. She had no intention of hiding it.

Heri looked at his son, who stuck his chest as if he was saying that he was telling the truth. His eyes darkened slightly. "I didn't recall ever allowing you to skip class, Reynard."

"But…"

"Mr. Sall, we're going to be late," Zach suddenly spoke from the side.
