23. The Banquet

They didn't talk more as they entered the large private room that was located at the third floor. Upon seeing so many important people, Reynard felt his scalp tinge. For some reason, he felt that it would be much better for him to leave rather than staying in this scary place even for a second longer.

There was no way he wanted to stay here and be tortured.

"Zach!" A man came towards them with a smile. He had a neat appearance and looked quite reliable despite his young age.

Zach raised his head and nodded. "Has everyone come?"

"Of course, who would dare to be late in front of the boss?" The man grinned, showing his pearly white teeth. He moved his line of sight and finally noticed that there were two additional people there. His eyes widened in surprise.

"Wow, Reynard, did you finally get a girlfriend?"

"Brother Julius, this is my martial arts master, Ann." Reynard quickly introduced Ann when he felt sudden chills. He didn't know where the chills came from, but he could guess that Ann must have given him a look.

He didn't want to spend the rest of the month in the hospital boohoo.

"Martial arts master?" Julius blinked his eyes in surprise. Looking at how petite the young girl was, he really couldn't imagine her to be a martial arts master. And to think that she could even had the qualification to teach Reynard….

That was something.

Ann looked at Julius and introduced herself, "My name is Ann, I'm the adopted daughter of Davis Family."

"Adopted daughter of Davis Family?" Julius felt that the phrase was somewhat familiar before he turned his head to look at Zach. If he was not wrong, there was a report about this matter to Zach not long ago, right?

Zach arched his eyebrows. "She's my guest. Come here, Julius."

"Ah, alright." Julius turned his head quickly. "My name is Julius Brown. If you need anything, you can speak to me."

Ann blinked her eyes and hummed in agreement. Internally, she was wondering who it was when she finally got her answer. Julius Brown, the second son in Brown Family and also the right hand of Zachary Hein.

Brown Family could be said to be of the same status as Sall Family and the two families had good relationship. At the same time, the two families were known to be close with Hei Family that stood at the very top of the chain.

Who would have thought that she would stumble into their internal banquet so quickly?

Ann glanced at Reynard, deciding that she would treat him slightly better for the time being. Right now, she still needed to get close to these people in order to obtain some clues and information.

What would be the best way to obtain information?

That was obviously to enter their circle and become a part of their small inner circle that would allow them to let her know much more. But of course, she had to be covert and not attract their attention.

Reynard felt chills when he saw that Ann was looking in his direction. He was thinking that he was definitely doomed and that Ann would beat him up so badly that he would be unrecognizable.

"This… are you hungry?"

"Mhm."

"I'll ask the waiter to quickly serve the food." Reynard didn't dare to dilly dallying and quickly asked the servant to bring food to their small table. As he and Ann were additional member for this banquet, they were given the small table at the side.

The two of them didn't mind.

Watching the group of people chatting with each other while eating the delicious food, Ann was thinking about something.

"Does your family close with Brown Family?"

"Ah?" Reynard took the sausages with his fork. He pursed his lips. "Julius is my sister's boyfriend. Rather than saying that we're close, it's more like the Brown Family and Sall Family interact with each other because of their relationship."

Ann was speechless.

Fine. It seemed that she needed to find out more about the younger generation's relationship with one another before she could find out more about their relationship.

"How about Hein Family."

Reynard stabbed the meat in front of him with his fork. "I don't know that much. I only meet them because Brother Julius often stay with him even when he visited my home. Don't worry, I don't think that Brother Zach will take it out on you…I think."

Hearing how uncertain Reynard was, Ann was speechless.

This boy was indeed very unreliable.
