Twenty one

Damnon

"I barely saw you today, where were you?" I asked Liv. Dispersing the comfortable silence in the car.

I had barely seen the girl all day which was a problem, that could hinder my plan to get information I required from her. I was lucky I managed to convince Sabastian into letting me drop her home. again. I was actually liking it.

" I was working at the warehouse" she replied. She kept looking at the street outside when answering me. " Did you want something?" She asked.

" No I just thought we would start the whole 'me teaching you how the company has to run' thing early you know." I told her as I kept my eyes on the road.

Liv turned to look at me after hearing my reply.

" Damnon, I don't think I am meant for such big things."she said to me " infact I wanted to suggest that you keep running the place until Isaac gets back." I furrowed my eye brows on hearing that.

" Liv I have a bar to run too you know, I came to Manhattan to meet Isaac but the man ended up vanishing and left me to run the company." I said and pulled up infront of a supermarket. " I will be back in a sec" she nodded at that. I came out of the car and entered the supermarket to get some chips.

Liv

When Damnon was gone, I leaned on the window that was half opened, staring at the people who walked by the streets. Most of the women moving with bouncy hair and smiling with the company they moved with. It had been long since I moved happily like that.

Then, my eyes saw a man, coffee brown hair, eyes like Damnon's, he had a narrow face that was well chiseled at the edges. He had a dimple on his chin, which added to his manliness . Thick eyebrows and pink lips. He was gorgeous. His eyes meet mine after filling my intense gaze on him. I wanted to look away but I couldn't now that we stared at each other. His hair bouncing alittle with every step he took. Where have you been all my life?

He smiled at me exposing his white teeth. His canines were prominent and slightly longer than usual but fairly a normal human size. His warm smile left me in a daze that I didn't bother smiling back. I was still taking in his features. Appreciating the creature who wasn't meant for me.

He felt awkward that I didn't return his smile so he quickly stole his gaze away from me and walked faster away.

Girl you are married.- I reminded myself but my eyes kept looking at the man walking away and far from my line of sight.

Damnon

I got out from the supermarket to find Liv looking intensely at something. I followed her gaze but I didn't see the person she was looking at.

I walked over to the car and stood infront of her blocking her view.

" What are you staring at?" I asked and she craned her head and looked up at me.

" Nothing" she replied and sat back in her seat. I shrugged not knowing what she was looking at, I didn't see anything off anyway. I gave her the bag I carried through her window before walking back to my seat.

I started the engine and joined the slightly busy road.

" So, have you been to Ireland?" She suddenly asked me making me choke on the chips that were in my mouth. I coughed. " Sorry, are you alright?" She asked concerned and as patted my back to stop me from choking.

" Am fine" I told her once my coughing stopped. Ireland, of course I have been there- I replied inwardly. I still dream about the event until now.

" Here have some soda" she offered me her's since mine was already done. I took it.

" Thanks" I said after finishing up the drink.

" So have you been to Ireland?" She asked again. She didn't seem to give up.

" Yeah why?" I asked back trying to remain calm. Where was this going? Did her memory come back?.

" How long ago was that?" She asked again. I could feel her gaze on me as she asked.

" Why all of sudden, you are so interested in my journey to Ireland?" I faked a chuckle but she didn't laugh with me making it alot more awkward.

" Just curious to know where exactly I first saw you" she said confidently.

" I didn't stay there long, I was there for like three days before leaving." I said filtering the story well. " It was about a year ago." I added on.

"Ohh..." She seemed disappointed. Did she know something.

" Did something happen to you?" I asked. I watched her body tense up but she tried to hide it. She pushed some unruly wavy hair that had come to her face behind her ear. " Are you alright?" I asked as I watched her through the rare mirror.

" Three years ago, me and my friends went on a camp trip in the Avondale Forest Park, Wicklow" she started to narrate. Three years ago I was in Avondale forest park. It was my burn that day.

" I came out the only survivor of that horrible trip." Her eyes looked distant as she spoke. Staring intensely at the road ahead.

" What happened to you?" I asked trying my best not to show my uneasy ness when she mentioned that place. Waiting to here the part where she calls me a monster but it didn't come. She seemed to try and recall the memory.

" I don't remember, I mean, I did remember but the officers said my story didn't make sense. The story I told them when I got out of the woods. They said I kept arguing with them and thought I was crazy. I was admitted to a mental health center when they saw I wasn't giving up on my story and was turning violent. I was there for months and they couldn't believe me when I didn't change the story even then. One-day I just wake up and everything that happened that night vanished. All those memories disappeared into thin air. I couldn't even understand what happened to me" I sighed heavily of sweet relief, she didn't recall anything at all. This was great.

" Why are you smiling?" She asked me suddenly and I quickly stopped smiling. " You think am crazy don't you." She folded her hands and leaned back to her chair. She must have thought I was unbelievable. She has just opened up to me and here I was smiling at the joy of her memory loss.

" No, I don't. I believe you. Did you ask them for the story you told them earlier?" I asked to make sure all the traces were gone

" I did but they said all the reports just vanished, I don't recall what happened and the person who handled my case didn't recall the story too. But something about you brings back the chill I felt that day I was in the forest." I pointed out her concern.
