Chapter 11

The night before, he had arrived just for dinner and, after doing so, he had locked up in his office to continue working, chained to the computer screen as if it were a peripheral of this one.

For her part, Cami had advanced all the work that Case Renfrew had commissioned him.

So they were, a couple of workers who were communicating via messages to secretaries and notites in the fridge... who had met three weeks ago, had been married five days and had conceived twins nine weeks ago…

They called her three minutes later and, after half an hour, she left the pertrechada consultation with brochures about pregnancy, information about hospitals and samples of papillas, lotions for babies and diapers to feed, persmoke and switch to twins for several weeks.

Benja was there, in the middle of two men, sitting in a leather seat. The three men seemed anxious, as if they were wanting to leave their homes, afraid that there was something contagious in the doctor's office.

Benja rose up and suddenly his distressed expression disappeared. He was radiant: He wore a gray suit with a fall that enhanced his height. He seemed to fill the waiting room with masculinity and success, although Benja did not realize, as he had all his attention fixed on it.

-I'm sorry I didn't arrive before -he apologized after giving him a fleeting kiss in his mouth.

-Don't worry. The doctor hasn't seen me yet.

-And all those roles?

-Nurse Gifts. To read and know what's going to be happening to me.

-Let me take it with you.

-I'm fine -Cami resisted, although he wanted to lie on Benja's chest.

-We'll put it in the briefcase.

Opened it and Cami agreed to give him the papers, so as not to discuss something minor.

-Lord and Mrs. Rojas, the doctor is waiting for you- the nurse announced.

It didn't take long. Everything seemed to go well... But while waiting to schedule a new appointment for four weeks later, Benja whispered to Cami's ear:

-He said nothing about the subject.

-Do you think we should have asked you? -She answered, knowing that Benja was referring to marital relations.

-He said a week and that was Sunday- he said. I suppose that if I have considered it necessary to prolong abstinence…

-But it has not done so, so we can...

-Although it is still Sunday.

-True... Total, gives equal. As we really don't go to...

-Of course -Benja agreed-. It gives absolutely the same. I was just... to know.

-Logical- said Cami. All in all, it is normal to think that everything is going well.

-Do you want us to stop and eat somewhere to celebrate? - he proposed then.

-Perfect- she agreed.

After, although Benja ate a lot, they immediately shortened the after-time and as soon as he got home, he locked himself in the studio to work.

On Sunday, Felipe and Coco visited them for the aperitif. Benja prepared some scrambled eggs, with chips, bacon, orange juice and coffee.

Cami smelled everything nauseating. It was increasingly difficult to find the food to taste, but no one had to know the problem, let alone Benja. I had no idea how to cook, and as much as she didn't like anything, it seemed to be a most succulent appetizer.

-This is tradition among the Rojas -Coco commented while devouring a slice of bacon.

-Men think better with a full stomach- Felipe added.

Cami was not relying on Philip. Nor did he think he would trust her. He was reputed to be skeptical about love.

- And women aren't? -Cami challenged him.

Philip shrugged off his shoulders in a bad mood and Benja gave him a reproof look:

-Do you just let another of your friends roll? -he asked him.

-Do you mean if I have ended a relationship with a woman?

-No, I mean if you have left another of your friends thrown in. In your case, this must be said.

- Why?

-Because you choose all the women you know will confirm all the prejudices you have about the female sex -Coco intervened with joy.

- Do we need to have this discussion in front of a woman?

-Cami is your sister in law- Coco said. You must know the terrible truth.

-Know?

-You don't want to risk relying on women.

- And why do you say that?

-Because it is always easier to cling to our beliefs than to prove whether we are wrong- Benja replied patiently.

-I don't want to talk about it.

-Supongo- Benja said. So keep eating. I'm just sorry for the woman.

-Which?

-The one you abandoned.

-I have not done so. It has been a shared decision.

-I understand. So you've decided to go back with your husband, right?

-Benja, do you mind reserving your aggressiveness for our game box? -Felipe took out the box of the computer game they were going to release to the market and placed it on the table.

- Why is it so dreadful? -He replaced Benja.

-By the combination of colors -Cami dared to intervene, to explain what he referred to next. They chatted for two hours and finally decided to call the graphic design department to make a new one.

-Don't let her escape -Philip recommended to Benja when he and Coco left.

The three brothers looked at Cami, who was putting the dishes in the sink.

-How do I not let her escape? -Benja repeated, disconcerted. He noticed that his brother had sensed something strange, but refused to mention the clauses of the premarital contract. Do you think I try to get rid of it? -he added, making himself silly.

-He says it as a warning- Coco tertiary. He's telling you of his intentions, Benja. As you get neglected, he's going to go for it.

-Coco, don't wear bad-taste jokes- Felipe accused.

-Who says I'm kidding? -Me! And seriously, Benja, as a brother who loves you, has chosen a great woman.

-Thank you, he said. I start thinking the same thing - he added without thinking about it.

-Getting Started? -Coco asked. He did not bother to clarify the matter to them. Think what you gave them the win! At those times the only thing he wanted was to get rid of them, to be able to be alone with Cami and... And what?, break the premarital agreement into a thousand pieces?

Yes, damn it, of course! He had been martyring himself for a whole week, trying in vain to forget the pain that oppressed his groin every time he thought of Cami.

But, after saying goodbye to Felipe and Coco, he stopped for a second in the corridor and was hesitant: would it be fair to Cami?
