CHAPTER TEN

Sam and Connor had exited the school and decided to walk together to a nearby diner where they would talk. It was simple diner by the name of ‘Auntie Betties’. It kind of struck a nerve but Sam couldn’t really put his finger on where he had seen or heard the name from.

“So you wanted to talk?”

Connor asked. Sam was wondering how to start the conversation. He didn’t want to scare him away so he started very subtle,

“So how are you?”

How are you, like seriously, how are you. Suddenly the air became so thick it could suffocate a person. Connor chuckled at Sam’s awkwardness, “I’m pretty sure we didn’t come here so you could ask me how I'm doing,”

Sam froze but he didn’t want to just tell him but since he insisted, he would.

“So let’s get this over with and......”

Sam stopped Connor even before he could finish his sentence,

“I’m your brother. Sam.”

Connor’s face drained of all its color leaving only an empty pale face empty of all emotion.

“I’m sorry, you must be mistaken. I don’t know where you got your information from but my brother died in a car crash with my parent’s years ago.”

It hurt Sam to see his own brother is such a pain reminiscing about the a lie he was told of his family. Sam could see that Connor wasn't taking the news all too well considering that he was just told that his brother, who died in a car crush years ago, is actually alive and sitting right in front of him.

Connor was still fazed by what Sam had said and hadn't uttered a word.

“I know you don’t believe me but I can prove it.”

Just then Sam pulled out his neck chain which had his initials, SB, engraved on the crocodile tooth,

“See, I am your brother Connor.”

Connor clutched his chest at where the neck chain was in his shirt and pulled it out. It was the same exact one as Sam had, except the initials of course. Although Connors eyes threatened to drop a tear he wouldn’t let himself break down in front of…… in front of his brother.

“So you’re Sam, as in my Sammie?!”

Connor was confused beyond measure. His emotions were playing so many tricks of him he didn’t know what was true anymore.

“Yes Con, it’s me. I also didn’t believe it at first until my good friend Michael confirmed it.”

Sam felt a bit relieved that he was finally able to talk to Connor and tell him everything. Maybe not everything but most things. Just the thought of sharing everything with is big brother made him smile.

"Wait did you just say, ‘Michael confirmed it’. Like Michael Heart?”

Connor wasn’t sure why of all the Michaels he had seen and met, why his best friend, Michael Heart, would be the Same Michael that enlightened Sam about his brother. It couldn’t be a coincidence that the Michael that told Sam who his brother was, is the same Michael that had told Connor about his Uncle and how he was responsible for his families deaths. It enraged Connor every time he thought about it and the more he thought the more he felt the urge to kill that retched man.

“Wait how do you know Michael?”

Sam was confused at how Connor could even remotely know of Michael because he was a student at X-Out Academy and they were very secretive and made sure that their location wasn’t made know to just anyone, or anyone in general for that matter.

“Michael is a friend of mine. We met at Amarok institute three years ago. He’s the one who told me about the person who was responsible for my parents and brother’s death but considering you are here I can see that not all he said was true.”

Connor scoffed, still in disbelief that his brother was alive.

“Are you telling me that you know who killed our parents?!”

Sam was in utter shock because his Uncle had told him that his parent’s death was an accident and that’s how he took it.

“So you mean to tell me that you still don’t know. Our beloved Uncle Pete is responsible for our parents death.”

Connors voice was laced with so much hate and venom it could kill and he probably would kill if he had the chance.

“I tried to take him out two years ago but he was prepared and knew that I was coming somehow and I failed.”

Sam was angered by his new revelation and at his brother for trying to assassinate the only other family he had besides himself.

“So you mean to tell me that you tried to assassinate our Uncle and failed?”

Sam wanted an answer and he wanted it now.

“Yes I did!”

He didn't even hesitate t answer his brother. Connor wasn’t proud of his failure but he would do anything to fix it if he had another chance because when he found out that his parents and brother's death wasn't an accident he swore to himself that he would avenge them no matter who he had to go through.

“I don't know if I should be happy that you tried to avenge our parents or angry that you tried to kill our Uncle; But one thing I do know is that unlike you I won’t fail.”
