Deity 2.322

Viggo met Miriam the next morning.

Miriam was sitting in her armchair with a blue chiton matching her eyes. For her stature and care, she looked glamorous and beautiful. She was only one year older than Viggo. She wore her hair arranged in a high bun with two strands falling to the sides of her face.

On the other hand, Viggo came with dark clothes with white embroidery that made him look distinguished, but in the middle of the desert it gave him warmth. Viggo smiled uncomfortably at his poor choice of clothes but kept his composure and looked Miriam in the eye.

—Do you think?— Miriam asked with a friendly smile on her lips.

—Yes— said Viggo —and I cannot give you such a right unless you tell me what you propose and how did you get that information?—

—What information?— asked Miriam, ignoring herself.

—I think I've told you that I'm God and I can see things that others don't. I like games, courtesy, intelligence that is used in business. I admire and adore my wife for all her abilities. However, if we are going to be circling an issue that we both have clear, this will be prolonged unnecessarily. Now, speak—

Miriam looked at Viggo, tall, red-haired, and stocky. He looked great in those dark clothes with white embroidery. However, different from the Viggo who arrived yesterday with the intentions of taking care of Jason's daughters. Today it seemed to come for something more serious and important.

Miriam took a deep breath and replied —okay— she was silent, let out a sigh and continued —my brother, a month ago, came with all the family records and asked me to hide them. He said they were too important to fall into the hands of father or worse, Poseidon. Of course, he brought it in chests with jewelry and gold coins. A small birthday present, so everyone was informed of this movement—

Miriam looked at Viggo's golden eyes and the latter nodded seriously in a firm gesture.

Miriam stared at him for a few seconds, took a second breath and continued —most of the books are records of our existence, the things we've done and how Santonio Vega's family went from being a group of fishermen to the owners of the Kaios desert—

—His alliance with Poseidon?—

—Yes, our alliance with Poseidon—

—Is that all?—

—No, that's not the most important thing, but the biggest thing— said Miriam —the important thing is contained in five gold cylinders with scrolls inside. They were translated by my brother, the chief scholar of Santonio Vega's family. The scrolls speak of a tower like the tower of Babel before the tower of Babel existed. Once the tower of Babel appeared in the center of the continent, the other towers disappeared from the continent. It is as if all the energy of the towers is absorbed by the tower of Babel. However, this would only last until the stars align. Once that happens, the tower of Babel will lose all its power and the other four towers will re-emerge bringing prosperity to the rest of the continent.

Miriam stopped and stared at Viggo to see how he responded to her words. However, Viggo remained calm and stared at her seriously, as if he already knew. Miriam frowned and asked —Do you believe me?—

—I believe you— he continues.

—Yet despite all the prosperity— said Miriam —each tower will be guarded by a guardian and a trial. The scrolls say that only an exceptional warrior, a true hero, will be able to overcome the test. In return, the guardian will give his blessing to the hero—

—And you wanted to take care of all this on your own?— asked Viggo with a serious tone.

—Yes and no. I am a merchant, I know what my limits are, but I cannot arrive and deliver to a stranger everything I have— Miriam replied.

—And do you think you can refuse and keep the tower for yourself?—

—No— Miriam said earnestly —if you weren't a good business partner, I would have looked for someone else. There is always a choice or an opportunity. I am not blind, if you had not come today or tomorrow, I would have had to escape to the empire, to the north of the continent. There is my aunt, my mother's sister. She would welcome us. You know her, she has dealings with your house, and her children belong to the family of the goddess of the Far East—

—Erika and Siegfried?—

—Yes, although I don't know them, blood unites us. They are my younger cousins—

—And you would have taken the scrolls and negotiated with your aunt?—

—Yes, she could have done business with you, but considering what you said, she may have achieved less than me—

—Yes, although they are our business partners, I don't care about them, do you understand that everything I promised you I did in honor of my brother Jason?—

—Yes—

Viggo took a deep breath and stared at Miriam to read her body language. She had her back straight, leaning against the backrest, her hands resting on the armrest. She showed no fear or anxiety, only seriousness.

—You can't manage the tower on your own— said Viggo —it's a lot for you. However, you can manage it, but like all other towers, there will be laws that regulate its use. I don't care what you try, I can see what you're going to do and if at any time you betray me, I'll take you out and put another one more fit, understood?—

—Yes, I understand— Miriam replied, maintaining seriousness.

—Now, why don't you use this opportunity to pray for your family?—

—There's no point, God Viggo. The fate of the Vega family is linked to Poseidon. My father will follow him to death and drag the rest of my family with them. My brother gave me the records as his best effort to prevent further harm, but at this time he must have been discovered and must be punished. He may even already be dead—

Suddenly, a great rumble reached the ears of Viggo and Miriam.

Viggo got up from his armchair and went to the balcony. At this time the sky was filled with black clouds, and lightning was rumbling in the sky. The sunlight was being dimmed as people shouted in the streets. In the distance, the crumbling walls of the southern entrance could be seen. It was as if a level six wizard had cast a huge spell. Viggo activated his clairvoyance, and his vision flew above the city looking at the layout of the streets. The great noise had produced chaos and people were moving away from the southern area towards the center of the city.

On the other hand, Viggo's vision reached the wall and saw debris. More than twenty meters long of the wall had fallen. The thing that hit them must have been something extremely hot, because the solid rock was red hot.

Viggo kept moving his vision into the desert, but he didn't see any army, wizard, or monster. Then his vision rose higher to the heavens to the point that the city of Shalzard became small and everything was visible. The black clouds were close and spread across the sky. Lightning blared in the sky until lightning struck the city center and destroyed the square with its beautiful pools. People working in that sector sought shelter or had been turned into coal in just an instant.

Only there, Viggo understood that these clouds were not natural, and the attack was more than just a fluke. Viggo concentrated on his divine energy and took it as a sample to search the distance for something similar. Then his vision flew at high speed south over the vast desert and reaching a city full of lights with huge buildings. It was an impressive construction on the southern coast of the Kaios Desert.

The largest building in the city was like the tower of Babel. On the rooftop was a young man with a padlock beard and long hair. The man had a naked torso and bright celestial-colored tattoos on his arms and chest. He was tall, with an athletic figure and a handsome face. That man raised his hands and Viggo could hear with his body the rumblings in the city of Shalzard. Another lightning bolt was on its way.

Viggo pursed his nose, cut off his clairvoyance, and looked beside him. He saw Miriam and said —Get your things ready, we'll leave as soon as possible. Now, Poseidon plans to destroy the city—

—In that case—

—I won't allow it, but it's not a definitive solution—

Viggo turned around, looked at the roof of the house and jumped up, reaching the top. Then he looked at the horizon with the black clouds, the city center destroyed, and the walls collapsed. Activated his clairvoyance and in just a few seconds, he found Poseidon again. Viggo frowned, he was going to need a lot of divine energy and he wasn't sure if he was going to tolerate it, but it was time to manifest his power.

Viggo channeled his divine power to his right hand and golden rays emerged between his fingers. Viggo took up position as if to throw a javelin and concentrated more of his divine power in his right hand. With his clairvoyance he identified Poseidon on the largest building in the city of Santonio Vega and once he concentrated his divine power, he formed a spear of sunlight and threw it with all his strength while releasing a loud roar.

The sunlight spear flew kilometers at a divine speed, split the black clouds, and broke through the Kaios Desert. Once he reached the city of Santonio Vega, located on the southern coast of the Kaios desert, he caught up with Poseidon in an instant. The latter could only react and cross his arms.

The spear of sunlight hit Poseidon squarely and sent him flying towards the sea of the port of Santonio Vega. He hit the surface of the sea violently causing storm surges and pushing ships ashore, damaging the harbor and killing thousands of people in an instant. However, as the town of Santonio Vega was on top of a cliff, it was not reached by the huge waves.

Viggo, from the roof of Shalzard's mansion, frowned at what his divine power had done. He didn't even intend to harm people. He just wanted to stop Poseidon, but the collateral damage left by this small exchange caused a lot of destruction.

Suddenly, the roof of the mansion gave way and collapsed causing Viggo to fall. The latter broke through the floor of the fourth floor and fell to the third floor. Viggo fell on his back leaving a cracked floor and looked at the ceiling. The roof surface of the fourth floor was on fire. His spear of sunlight, with only the thermal power, had burned everything.

—Viggo— shouted Sakura, who went up to the third floor and reached the only room. She walked in and found Viggo lying on the ground, looking at the mess he had made. Sakura walked over, took Viggo's arm, but immediately pushed her hands away. Viggo's body was hot as if it had been put in an oven. The right arm of the jacket had been incinerated and the rest of the body was on fire.

Sakura moved to find something to put out the fire. She takes some blankets from Miriam's bed and occupies them to hit the fire and put it out. Once Sakura put out the fire, she spread her hands and tried to touch Viggo. This time she didn't burn out, so she takes Viggo and help him sit in an armchair.

Sakura watched Viggo, who looked serious and, in a trance, as if he were looking at something in the distance.
