Maldyn

Michael looks to Charlotte who'd already readied herself for combat, "You wanna go first? I know you've been a bit stressed lately..."

She just gives him a small nod and steps forwards, turning her staff in her hands as the wind around her picks up. All the while, Malyn was casting spells of his own... Some kind of armour spell judging by how his skin and the fabric of his clothes shimmer, a flame cloak, and a couple others that the duo had no idea about.

After all that, he summons a heavily armoured Dremora which immediately charges them, but that's not all... He throws his hands towards the other Apprentices that were cleaning up the remaining zombies... Two spells each explode into different coloured lights that envelope at least fifteen people.

Some immediately start running away from the battle, while others start attacking one another in a rage. The worst thing was the fact that the zombies hadn't yet all been dealt with, causing chaos to run through the College's side.

Malyn would've started laughing at this point, but Charlotte's own spell had finally finished...

"Ice Storm." she chants, using the magic of her homeworld. Winds billow out from where she was standing, uplifting the snow and ice from the ground in the area and throwing them high into the sky. Additional ice forms in the air, and after a moment, it all streams towards where Malyn was stood.

Like sentient shards of glass, they swarm towards him, first blowing past the Dremora and utterly ruining its unarmoured face, and then moving on to Malyn who'd hastily started preparing countermeasures.

The man was a low tier expert with Destruction magic, so he could tell a ward spell wouldn't block whatever spell Charlotte had just cast. While it might block the ice that she herself had created for the attack, the ice uplifted from the ground wouldn't be touched by a solely magical ward.

Thus, he decided to use his comparatively low skill with Alteration to try to combat it. A grey spell forms in his palm as he throws it to the ground in front of him,

*Shha-KANG!*

Jagged rocks raise themselves from the ground, forming a makeshift barrier in front of the Dunmer mage, just in time too as the storm of ice shards impact it. Just as the environmental ice wasn't affected by wards, it wasn't strengthened by magic either, leaving it as brittle as regular ice usually was.

*CrRrRrRrRrRrRRRR!*

It doesn't take long for all the ice in the spell to be used up, and while the wind was still turbulent, it wasn't a threat to Malyn any longer. The Dunmer knew then and steps out from behind his cover with new spells at the ready.

"Impressive! FOR AN AMATEUR!" he roars, ignoring the fact that he himself wasn't capable of such an elaborate spell.

Like an overpowered flamethrower, two streams of incredibly hot fire shoot from Malyn's palms directly at Charlotte, she swipes her staff to the side which raises two tall walls of ice and taps it on the ground afterwards to send one of them shooting at the mage.

In response, Malyn summons two larger than average Frost Atronachs to catch it, but Charlotte just turns the wall to water, causing it to bypass the Atronachs and splash against Malyn. Another tap of her staff later, the mage is frozen completely in a layer of ice.

"N-NO! GE-T OFF OF MEEEEE!" Malyn roars, unconsciously activating the Dunmer's racial ability Ancestors Wrath and causing fire to chaotically begin swirling around him, inadvertently destroying his own Atronachs in the process. "I'LL USE YOUR SCORCHED FLESH FOR MY NEXT UNDEAD, YOU SNIVELLING CRET-GHUIIK!" he starts but is silenced when an ice spear blows through his chest, leaving a hole the same size as Malyn's head where his heart should be...

"N-no... M-my ambi-tions!..." he chokes out before falling face-first onto the ground, he could barely move his body, but had just enough strength left to retrieve a black soul gem from his pouch, and cast soul trap on himself... Sealing his soul inside.

"Huh, nice job." Michael says, giving Charlotte a pat on her shoulder, "You made that look pretty easy..."

She shrugs, "Home mages are stronger...?" she states unsurely, questioning him and herself on whether or not that's true.

To be frank, while Skyrim's magic has more flexibility and potential, Halkeginia's magic is easier to learn and become proficient in.

While everything was in Charlotte's favour, from the weather, Malyn's state of mind, condition and magical reserves, and focus, she still should not have won so easily. Malyn had studied magic for hundreds of years, yet he'd been fairly easily bested.

Charlotte might be a genius, but clearly, there was a disparity with the magic each world used. Sure, Tamriel made up for it by having overall sturdier physiques and such, but it was still hard to wrap your head around.

Despite all of this though, Michael was sure that any legendary mage in Tamriel would destroy a legendary mage in Halkeginia. The scales were just too different, especially when you consider that Tamirel had actual gods to deal with, compared to the quiet being known as 'Brimir'.

"Maybe, we'll see if that's true once we master everything, right?" he replies while brushing some snow from his robes, "Oh, free soul gem." he jokes, taking the filled black soul gem from Malyn's corpse.

"Funny." she deadpans and goes to see how much damage was done by the beserk Apprentices. The others should have subdued them while she was fighting Malyn, but you couldn't trust strangers to be competent, only hope that they weren't completely stupid.
