Pathetic Dispray

"-so, what is it you required help with?"

Illococoo nods and boisterously claps her bicep, "We'll definitely help you! Even if you lied to us." she adds.

...

Megumin looks somewhat stunned by Tiffania's question and Illococoo's declaration, so much so that her facade almost drops. Almost. She ignores the twinge of hunger-pains that have been assaulting her for days now and simply shrugs her shoulders, "Help? What would I need help with? To me, it looks like you are the ones who need help! Why else would someone as great as me have been summoned!?" she retorts, attempting to make her voice sound deeper to sound more dependable.

To everyone here though, it sounded like she was trying way too hard...

Tiffania presses on however, "We can send you back if you like, don't you have friends or family waiting back home for you?" she asks, not wanting to kidnap someone away from their home.

Upon hearing the word 'friends' Megumin's face twitches, she wasn't entirely sure for what purpose she had been summoned, but it couldn't be worse than what she was previously dealing with... Wandering from town to town, penniless, starving, and with no parties willing to accept her... Not after they realised her 'talents' at least.

Looking at the people before her now though, she saw a party that might suitable for her... After all, she'd been summoned here! It must be fate!

The only thing that was holding her back from throwing herself at this opportunity was her family. Her father Hyoizaburoo, mother Yuiyui, and her little sister Komekko... She didn't have any friends worth mentioning (AN : Cry more Yunyun).

"O-of course! I have many friends who are undoubtedly worried about me! But it sounds like I can return to them even if I stay here with you... Why did you summon me anyway?" she asks, only now realising that she was at these people's mercy... What if they wanted to do lewd things to her!?

Tiffania gives a gentle smile, "You were summoned to serve as my Familiar... I am a Void Mage, and any familiar I summon would be human. In exchange, the Familiar is granted a set of runes that empower them."

Megumin's eyes light up at that, "Empower? What like? Could I shoot black flames from my hands!? Control people's minds!? Teleport anywhere I want!?" she asks, her red eyes glowing brightly in response to her excitement, making her look veritably vampiric in he appearance. She attempts to step outside of the ritual circle to approach Tiffania, but inadvertently headbutts an invisible wall that was keeping her in place... "Oughff!"

Illococoo snickers at the girl and skips unaffected between the barriers as Tiffania begins to explain, "I'm not sure what you will receive... Controlling the minds of animals and becoming an instant master of all weapons are some of the options though."

Megumin dips into a contemplative stance for a few seconds, making sure everyone is aware of how deeply she was 'considering' this. "Well, I suppose if you are so desperate for my help, I have no choice but to accept!"

"Send her back." Michael finally states, having decided that her explosions weren't worth the antics they'd have to deal with in her care...

All eyes turn to Michael and Tiffania tilts her head to the side, "What's wrong? I think she'd be perfect to join us." she asks, not seeing or ignoring the desperate glint that appears in Megumin's eyes.

Michael just shakes his head and walks to the edge of the ritual circle, "Megumin. You said you are a powerful mage... What magic can you cast?"

...

Megumin begins sweating profusely as the others stare at her, already suspicious at her lack of response. "Ahem! Arch Wizards are capable of most spells that exist, as I told you earlier, I am a Arch Wizard!"

...

"Yes, but what spells do YOU know."

...

"T-the most powerful of all spells! Explosion! It's enough to blow fortresses apart, defeat giant monsters, or even halve mountains! No magic is greater, I promise you!" she exclaims, sounding like a used car salesman.

"Annnd, what else?" Michael presses, not buying her excuses.

Megumin ignores Michael and turns to Tiffania, "So, how do I join... Do I need to sign a familiar contract? Or maybe pledge myself to yo-"

"Oi! Don't ignore me! What else do you have besides explosions!?" Michael shouts, finding her attempt to sway Tiffania as amusing as they were annoying.

Megumin's facade breaks down after she realises that she wasn't fooling anyone and she begins to lose it. "Wa! Please accept me! I've got nowhere else to go!" she begs, pushing herself against the invisible wall as tears and snot begin dripping down her face. It's only made more disgusting as her snot drips down the invisible barrier, making it look like wriggling green slimy worms...

"I haven't eaten for days, all other parties reject me, if you send me away I'll starve to death on the road! I-if you will do it, look me in my eyes and tell me to die, because that's what'll happen!"

"This is... Sad, sis." Illococoo mutters with an uncharacteristic grimace on her face.

Tiffania looks to Michael, "Can we really send this young girl back... We was summoned for a reason..." she sheepishly asks.

"Her problems will be resolved eventually..." he says, inwardly visualizing Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness, Megumin's would-be companions... Indeed, if she wasn't sent back would they even survive?

Wait... If Megumin didn't go back, wouldn't that mean that Yunyun would take her place?... Those bastards would be way better off!

"Michael?" Tiffania asks, wondering what his sudden peculiar expression meant.

All the while, Megumin continued begging. She pulls something from the pouch on her waist and presses it against the invisible barrier, "*Sniff*, L-look at my Guild card! I have very high intelligence! And my level is not bad either!"

...

"It's blank." Charlotte states, causing Megumin's eyes to widen as she looks at it. Her world crumbles before her, but she still hadn't given up.
