Chapter 40: About me

"You know Stefan, Mrs Wilson is not actually my real mom. I didn't know my real family but I was told by my mom that I was very young when my parents died in a fire. She said my real mother's last words were 'save the child'."

"I grew up with them as my foster parents, and they treated me well. Mom would always make me feel belonged. She was there in my sad times and good times. Dad would be there for me even though he was not always with us. He would go away for months without coming back."

"Julia didn't like me, she would try everything to see me out of their home. She would call me names most times, blame me for taking everything from her, frame me up and allow mom to punish me. I was like the perfect daughter while she, the prodigal one"

"I already found out about my abilities, my powers before I knew my mom. I could hear things, move things with a snap of my hand, I could also tell of any species whether it's a werewolf, witches, vampires, dragons, mermaids and many others if only he or she does not hide a scent. The more I grow into an adult, the more my powers develop. As it stands now, I still do not know how many powers I've."

"And in all, Mrs Wilson was the only one who knew about my powers. She sometimes helped me with new gifts and watch me welcomed them."

Stefan was quiet as I talked to him about myself, I wanted him to know things about me, things that I do not know if I understood.

"And now, my life has taken another direction after many people told me that the powers I had must be used to save the world. I knew my life was not going to remain the same, the very first day you found me. My powers took another turn, building up into a scarier form. All I wanted, Stefan, is to be like every other young girl out there."

I just wanted someone to know things about me. Like I said, I do not understand part of me, I knew I had powers and I could use them do things but since I was told that I was born for many great things, that I am a weapon against the war and that I could stop a supernatural war, I knew right then, that I don't know myself as I thought."

"Stefan, I've been thinking about things, actually that has to do with you." I said.

I felt him turn and he was staring directly at my face. He picked up my hand and held it under his chin so I could feel his warm soft skin. I sighed and took away my hand. "This is not the time, Stefan Brown."

He grinned a broad smile when I said that. I gave him a mean look. "Okay. I'm listening." He surrendered.

"My mom told me about the things you discussed with the moon goddess, do you care to share?." I asked, politely. I didn't want him to feel like I'm trying to pry on his private matters. But his private matters are matters concerning me and for the record, and what I've known, mates are reckoned to be one.

"I asked the moon goddess why she gave me someone like you as my mate." I looked into his eyes to know if he was lying or not. I didn't want him to lie nor do I want to believe his lies. If we could become one, he should be ready to let me know what he knows.

"She said so many things, things that I am not able to understand. It was a strange language."

I could find truth in what he said, I didn't want to pester him about it so I thought of an idea.

"How do we find answers to what we're looking for?."

He thought for a while and straightened up. He had this curious look on him that made me think of his next question. "Why do you ask that?."

"Stefan. I feel the answer the moon goddess provided has got something to do with me. I think she gave you answers to every question I had asked myself since I was born."

I was confident of my words, that my answers were finally provided in the person of Stefan.

"Why don't we find the meaning, Stefan?." He looked confused, "How?."

I and Ava stopped at an entrance to Mrs Maggie's office. The door opened on its own and we walked in. She was inscribing on a paper when we walked in.

We waited for a few more minutes before she stopped what she was doing to look at us. In the morning, she was pissed off by Ethan that she couldn't attend to us and tonight, I do not know if she got angry over another thing again.

"The AHS council have been angry over the strangers we have in the clan. They wanted to speak with you especially." I knew why they called me to the council. I can not forget the enemy of their kind I have as a mate so they must be very careful around us.

"But it wouldn't be tonight so I shifted the meeting till tomorrow. Let the hunter know about this, and he should be prepared for anything whatsoever." She finalized and dismissed us.

Ava had her mouth shut as she escorted me back to my room. I find Ava as a quiet type, she would not talk unless it's necessary to. She was just timid, introverted.

Her round balls kept rotating around as we reached my door. She stared at me like someone who had something to say but didn't know how to begin.

"Ava, do you have something to say to me?." I asked her.

"I do not know how to do this but we have a bonfire celebration, only for teens coming up tonight and I'd like to see you there."

I thought about that for minutes and shrugged. "Well. It's not bad to have fun tonight, is it?." I asked.

"Yeah. Remember to bring the hunter boy?." She asked, clicking her tongue together. "He is Stefan." I corrected her.

"Yeah, Stefan. Okay I'll see you at 9, okay.." She said and walked away. I turned around and opened the door.
