Chapter 47: Called in for dinner.

I walked out of shower and watched Stefan stare at me. I knew he had something to say but didn't know how to approach me. Since yesterday, I have scolded him about his dead friend and told him how wrong it was to date his friend's mate. I turned and opened the wardrobe, I picked some casual ones I could find and closed the door.

"Stefan, do you care to join?." I asked, knowing the answer already. For the fact that he hasn't been out of the mansion since we came, made me think twice before asking him to accompany me out. But this time, he had to. I was going to see the witch today.

I walk to stand before him. "Do you remember what we discussed?." I asked, carefully. He raised his brows, "I mean what we discussed the first week of our stay over here." I reminded but he looked confused. I sighed.

"We discussed visiting someone who could help explain to us what the moon goddess said to you."

"Can't we do that some other time?." He asked, running his hand through his hair. I bent down, "No. Tomorrow's late. The witch's coven was gonna decide whether we stay or not. We've got to make use of our time here before it becomes too late for us."

"Go on. I'll be with you shortly." He muttered and looked away from me. I shook my head and stood upright. I knew he wasn't going to meet us, I mean he doesn't know his way around.

We walked through some bushes before arriving in front of a wooden house, which I could say was of a timber construction. Every other place littered with stones and broken bottles stuck into the ground. The house smelt of incest and I look at Ava.

"She stays alone." She said and started walking ahead while I followed behind. We stopped in front of the door, and Ava pushed it open. We walked in and the door closed behind us.

Inside, the house wasn't tidy, there were cobwebs in almost all the places and the shelves on both sides were filled with weird looking things. This is the best definition of witchcraft.

"Griselda." Ava called out, making me focus back on her. A very old woman walked out, using a stick to support her stance.

The woman stopped and looked at us, turned and started walking further into the house.

We followed up, careful not to stumble over the shelves and destroy things. It got to a point where we pushed a red dirty curtain and walked in. In this place, a small bed was at a far end, a small stool stood in front of a long wood which serves as a pillar, and a mat was spread on the floor.

Ava removed her shoes and I did likewise as we sat on the mat. The beautiful old woman, who had very long hair tied to the back, even in her old form, you could notice she was beautiful when she was young. I can't believe this was once a human.

"What do you want, Ava?." She asked, her voice was very strong. Ava looked at me and asked me to continue. I cleared my throat and looked at the old woman.

"I need answers, Ma'am." I stated calmly. She shook her head and beckoned me to continue. "I am Elena Wilson. I am human but I have powers. How is it possible?." She thought for a while.

"How long have you known this?." She asked. "Since I was five." I replied.

"That was when you found out as a child?." She asked me again. I looked at Ava and turned to her again. "I lost my memory as a child. All I remembered was that my mom claimed to have saved me."

She looked intently into my eyes and slowly dropped the stick she was using as a support and brought out her palms. She asked me to place my hands on them and I did as instructed. I shut my eyes after this and after I must have closed my eyes, I felt something running through me, it ran through my heart and encircled it then to my mind. Immediately I heard her gasp.

I opened my eyes and watched her blue eyes turn back to their normal color. "Come back with your mate." She instructed.

Our journey back to the mansion was a quiet one. I felt like Ava noticed I didn't want to talk now as there was a lot going through my mind.

When we reached the castle, she held me back as I tried to climb the stairs, she whispered, "Get ready by 10. I'll come pick you up." She whispered and walked away.

Reaching the room, I opened the door and found Stefan sleeping on the couch, with one of my books on top of his chest. He must have been bored to ever think of reading. I walked further to him and bent before him.

"I wished I knew who I was. I could had been surrounded with my real parents and family. I could be this normal teenage girl in highschool with friends, go on proms, vacations, excursions and might even join the cheerleaders club. I could have a boyfriend, maybe have sex when I turned eighteen and finish highschool. Now, I'm just given a lot of responsibilities that I do not know how to take care of. I haven't mastered all my powers yet."

I kissed his cheek and turned to lay on the bed, anticipatedly.

I opened my eyes when I heard a knock at the door. I turned and couldn't find Stefan in the room and so I climbed down and walked to open the door.

A maid was standing in front of me with her head bowed. "You're coming down for dinner. Madame asked to see the.." She stopped and looked up. "Your mate with you." She completed and scurried away. I knew she almost called Stefan the name most of the people in the clan call him.

The bathroom door opened and Stefan walked in, all dressed in shorts and 'kill or save' black top. "Who was that?." He asked.

"A maid asked us to come down for dinner. We don't have to disobey the madame, do we?." I asked, knowing he might disagree.

"Not that I am afraid of them. But I do not want to do something rashly to anyone at the table. I do not like the fact that I'm about to eat with my enemies." He completed.
