Gary Versus Astrid Part 2

Holy energy came out from Astrid's body.

"Holy light: Heal."

Astrid casted one spell after another onto himself, making all his wounds heal instantly.

"…" Gary was calm and silent, the act of nonchalance written in his being.

However, his eyes were set on, completely focused on Astrid without batting an eyelash. His face wasn't going to show it, but he was thrilled that he could feel his muscles pumping blood to his veins.

Pure human adrenaline and thrill were ready to react on anything.

Gary was the top of his class in the Knight Academy in the Capital of the entire Jian kingdom. Even before graduation, he had shown great talent for mastering what a knight student can possibly do, and even went beyond that!

Then, instead of becoming a part of the royal knights or stay in the Capital to be a part of the Defense Brigade and Offensive Brigade—two of the highest-ranked privileged units of the kingdom, he chose to become a part of a Special Operations Squad.

Special Operations Squads were small units of knights with the objective of exploring the world to maintain the peace and order of the land. Most of the time they were special knights acting as tools to make the kingdom's territorial ambitions expand, but they were also like adventurers.

Knight Faller and Hamon were the leaders of the special operations squad he joined, and after a few months, he had also became one of the highest ranked of the squad, becoming one of the three core members.

But even after venturing to the lands, the stronger enemies they faced just made him stronger to the point he felt like fighting was going to be worth it. It had been a year since he joined, and the monsters and enemies they continue to encounter was not even worth for him to go serious at least a little bit.

But now it was different.

"The Captain of the Sixth Scripture of a theocracy is different." Gary said with the same tone on his voice, but now his eyes were focused like knives.

"I doubt Gary is going to come out of this unscathed as always, but his opponent is definitely in a lot of trouble right now." Knight Hamon said, as they watched from the sidelines, and protected everyone.

All the knights led by them and the adventurers decided to not interfere. Their main priority was to protect everyone.

It was Gary who still attacked them, despite them not attacking.

"Your injuries aren't going to heal anytime soon." The medic knight of the special operations squad said, as he wrapped Knight Faller's wounds he got from Astrid with bandages.

"I figured," Knight Faller said in pain.

An attack from the Captain of the Sixth Scripture of the Williamson Theocracy was not going to go good for anyone.

At this time, Knight Faller looked at a certain someone they were told to escort and protect.

He was one of the royal doctors of the Jian Kingdom.

"Doctor Angelo," Knight Faller muttered.

Right now, the old doctor was on the holy knights' side.

Of course, Faller knew how the system worked. The Dukes were ruling them, and next to that was the King who had the greatest power among all the royals, even the Dukes. But above that realm was the Church.

The Church had many divisions, but the thing was they were all a part of the Church.

The Church were capable of many things such as foretelling prophecies and lending out holy weapons to slay demons and devils—the greatest evils of the world. They were also capable of healing magic possessing hundreds of clerics, paladins, and holy mages.

It was also no secret that everyone believes in Kings because they were said to blessed by the Great Gods, giving them the Divine Right to rule.

That was why Knight Faller decided to not retaliate any further. Even if he did share any religious or spiritual belief in the Church. He might believe in the Great Gods, but not the pope nor the holy knights.

Knight Faller looked at the skies above, and frowned.

"Are you okay?" It was at this time that he heard Corre asked him.

"Yeah," Faller nodded.

"So, what should we do? It seems like that young knight is impeccable, but no way he's going to win against all the holy knights, not to mention a holy mage," Corre asked.

At the very same time, sounds of steel swords clanging in the fight were echoing.

Gary had superb fighting abilities. His movements were fast, agile, and his body was flexible and had insane reaction time. He continued to clash swords with them, dominating the fight like a rapid slashing beast.

If the holy knights ever got close to him, he has enough flexibility and reaction time to bend his body in angles and counterattack with an accurate slash on his own.

Astrid on the other hand was just watching Gary with the same calm face pasted with a little smile.

Knight Faller noticed this and replied. "Well, we just observe for now. We could think what to do whether to join Gary or just watch. I bet Gary is not going to run out of gas anytime soon."

Corre understood this and did not say anything. It was better to be cautious when dealing with issues concerning the Church.

Looking at this, Corre, the other adventurers, even the knights of the special operations squad were shocked in disbelief.

Gary was so powerful and skilled at such a young age. As for the adventurers, they could now see why Gary always had that nonchalant facial expression in his face as if he did not want to be there. Or he would rather sleep than do anything.

As for the knights of the special operations squad, they were able to remember better now how powerful Gary was.

"That little bastard, he's really going to finish most of them." Corre said.

"But even for him, he's going to run out of energy. The holy knights are getting used to his speed." John said.

"No, his speed is just decreasing," Knight Hamon clarified.

"Martial arts: Double Energy," Gary muttered.

Adrenaline energy rapidly coursed through his veins, empowering him.

Martial Arts: Double Energy was a skill in martial arts that could restore his stamina. He could only use it two times per day, so he could only use it one more time.

He had not defeated most of the holy knights yet, but he already had to use it.

"I need to go faster," He muttered to himself, bursting out in the air, and slashing two holy knights in their back with the steel sword he stole.

It was at this moment!

Before Gary could land in the ground, in just a fraction of a second, Astrid unsheathed his sword and pointed it at Gary direction. In an instant, before anyone could react, a holy wave of slash travelled in the speed of light, hitting Gary directly.

The wave of holy light in the form of a slash vanished in the air as soon as it hit its target.

With a pained expression in his face, Gary landed in the ground unbalanced, holding his left shoulder with his right hand, as it was dripping with blood.

His steel sword dropped in the ground with a clang. At the very same time, Gary's whole left arm was seen to be gone.

Before everyone could react to it, a severed left arm dropped five meters away from his position. It was his left arm.

With the same calm and little smile pasted on his face, Astrid spoke, "Enough, you displayed amazing capabilities worthy of me using the divine powers given to me by the Great Gods."

"Tsk," Gary was pissed. He definitely was not happy getting one of his arms severed. This was the end. He was not going to fight anymore.

"I see you accepted your fate. But rest assured, the Great Gods decided not to end your life yet. Join us, and the Great Gods would forgive your sins."

All this time, Gary wore a nonchalant face, seemingly unconcerned with everything.

But now, the corners of his mouth moved a little. He did not whether to cry or laugh.

"Ridiculous. I would never join the Holy Knights. That's absolute," he said in the end, retreating back.

Astrid was stunned for a moment, but if that was the case, he should not let someone who bared his fangs at the Great Gods live any longer.

"Holy light: Sword," he raised his sword that was shining brightly, and pointed it at Gary's retreating back, emanating the same wave of holy light in the air.

But it was at this moment!

The wave of light travelling in the speed of light was shoved away to the skies by someone's bare hands.

The person was of young age just like Gary. He had black hair, crimson eyes and wore an all-black attire.

"Huh?" Kara cannot believe he just interfered!

"What are you doing?" he asked May.

This sensation. This sight of words hovering in the air was the same as when he discovered the book, and awakened May. It absolutely felt like he was not in control of his body, but he had the conscience to know everything that was taking place.

"I said it, right? I told you to get away from here, but you didn't listen," May replied.

Kara was confused.

But at this time, everyone was looking at him!
