Magic items

A handsome man in his teens, with jet black hair and flawless skin, used his crimson eyes to stare at the empty room. With his legs crossed, he was sitting in a medium-sized wooden chair that was only slightly bigger than he was.

He has an empty gaze that seemed detached of the whole word.

The meeting was over, concluding that the party of adventurers numbering four, including Gary and Kara, would take part as six of the seven fighter representatives of the Town of Salienc.

As for Doctor Angelo, the committee decided he would stay in the sidelines as one of the support staff. Even if his name had been changed by them, it was only between them. His face might also bring some curious viewers' attention. It was better for him to lay low.

Inside, Kara's mind was a realm of silence and darkness.

Above the gray fog, which was not there before, stood a majestic divine hall that looked like a giant's residence. Dark and red colors bloomed on both sides of the black shiny table, as it carved two blurry figures who sat opposite to each other.

'Is this really my mind?' he thought.

'No, this is our mind,' May replied.

Just then, May started to slowly slide her slender fingers through the dark red metallic solid that surrounded the edges of the black table.

After she either felt satisfied or bored, she sighed softly and exhaled, 'This color is the proof that we share one mind now,' she said.

There was a pause for a while ,and Kara stared at the area of the table she seductively touched. Then he casually moved her pupils and noticed the surroundings, too. Even now, he still could not believe that he was sharing one mind with another person. What were the odds of that happening? Of him expecting that?

'So?' May asked, since she knew the boy did not summon his consciousness here just to stare at the table.

'Let's proceed with what we were talking earlier. You said, though we share one mind and our emotions, you said you could go out to the outside world if you become strong enough? Can you elaborate on that?'

'Of course. It's very simple.' May replied with a slight smile on her lips, 'The main reason I cannot get out to the world is for the same reason I created the Forest of the Darn. I wanted to create a silent and dark. It was my safest place.'

Kara had to ask, since he was confused about that part.

'What do you mean on that?' Kara knew there was a reason. If his deductions were right, May wanted to live in a soundless, and dark place—just like his mind—but he was not exactly sure why would she even do that. Such a powerful existence. Was someone or something frightening her?

'I'm sure you've already know,' she started to talk, 'but I feel anger frequently. I let my emotions control me, and back in the past, I lost myself. Now, I don't think I can still manage. That's why I've been in your mind all this time.'

May had an expression of regret and sadness as she recalled her memories.

'So, you mean you're…afraid of something outside?'

May embarrassedly flushed at this point. It seemed like it was true.

Such a powerful being was afraid?

'What is it you're afraid of?' Kara asked with curiosity.

May moved his lips and spoke in a voice shyly, 'Myself.'

Kara felt like laughing. He smirked and rolled his eyes like a ping-pong ball, and said, 'So, I need to help you overcome your trauma or something? What a piece of work you are.'

'How rude,' May looked away.

This girl was afraid of herself!

Shaking his head, Kara pondered seriously. How could he even solve this dilemma? Kara had no time to joke with the beautiful black-haired girl so he asked.

'Do you have any idea how I can help you?' Of course he knew that she has something in mind!

May smiled cheerfully, as if she was a little child that just got treated to ice cream for free.

Looking at this pretty female face with such an attractive silhouette, Kara could only imagine the eyes of men looking at her like a goddess when she finally comes outside.

May explained, 'Naturally, I have something. It was something that I used to back in the past when I try to interact with the mortals.'

Just then, May waved his hand and there flashed the image of a certain fruit with the color of yellow and purple. There were lines on each side, making it look surreal.

'This is the Gein Fruit, right?' Kara asked.

'Right.'

'The Gein Fruit is a special type of fruit found in Grassland Biomes. The natives of the grasslands created folktales that the Gein Fruit is a type of fruit that can calm the nerves of creatures including, hostile animals, beasts, and monsters except for non-monster types. Because of this, hunters and adventurers usually use it to calm their targets before capturing or battling them. The weaker they are, the bigger the effect.'

'I see.'

'In simple terms, Gein fruit is a type of fruit that can calm the nerves of any beast creatures,' May said, to which Kara nodded.

That was true.

But because the Shadow race was actually almost immune to emotions, the existence of Gein Fruit became less essential. If he could remember correctly, Gein fruits became mere calm-inducing drugs the shadow clan used on their experiments on beast creatures.

'Could this really calm your nerves?' Kara asked in a doubtful tone.

If he can remember correctly, the Gein fruit can only calm the nerves of a weak monster or a beast or an animal. Not the powerful monsters. And May was not just a powerful monster, she might as well be a Goddess.

Could that really calm the nerves of someone like May?

May was quick to respond.

'Naturally, it cannot. The effect would be far too low that I could not even feel it. That is why I need two specific things,' May explained.

Suddenly, two images of magic items appeared right before their eyes.

Seeing this, Kara saw the girl just gave him a new job. He needed to meet an alchemist and a witch.

'I also need the Calming Shell Pearl Bracelet. It also has the effects of calming the nerves. To create this, we must have natural clams that were naturally generated on the seafloor, and must be 100 years old at least.'

The exposed palm-sized area showed a transparent gold-red color like amber, which was beautiful.

Seeing this, Kara slowly looked at May's beautiful face with a puzzled expression.

'What is this? Do I need to bring you jewelries next?'

'Fufufu, think of it as practice when you meet your love.'
