A Heart’s Passion

The two twins emerged from the pit. They both looked rather shy and the one with golden eyes even looked intimidatingly angry to Jay. Crystal gingerly put her arm around his shoulders. "Let me introduce you...to your children, Dawn and Dusk." She nodded towards them both. Jay froze in shock just staring at them, lost for words. He looked as if he might faint. "They're...They're...beautiful," he mindlessly stuttered out. After a long moment of gathering himself, he continued. "I thought your scent was familiar Dusk. Nice to finally see who has been taking care of me all of this time." he said, half smiling at her, eyes tearing up. "Thank you." he breathed out. He slowly tore his eyes off of them and looked at Crystal. He nearly dove at her feet, bursting into tears, wailing "I never wanted to hurt you! You didn't deserve to be left here, alone, to raise them by yourself. And they're half vampires too! OH GOD WHY?!" he sobbed. She coddled him, stroking his head, she signaled that the girls could leave. "It's okay. It wasn't your fault. I also wasn't alone, not for a single minute," she said starting to laugh. "I had the ENTIRE family taking care of me. But my heart never stopped aching for you. You are my soulmate and no matter what happens, I will love you for eternity. He just looked up pitifully at her and gave a weak smile. He couldn't believe the strength of this woman or even begin to understand how she could love him so much after all he had put her through.

Jay kind of fell asleep where he was from all of the sobbing, so Crystal just left him there and went to the medical den. "Diamond, I need help," she said. Her sister just laughed. "You look fine, and besides, I'm not the doctor. He'll be back soon." "It's Jay I told him about the kids and he didn't stop crying for three hours straight until he passed out. Please don't tell me I broke my husband." "Ugh. I'm a little busy here with my own kids. See if you can drag him here so we can talk a round of therapy. See if I can fix him.," she laughed. "Okay. I'll try. Whenever he eventually wakes up."

"Now Jay, I did tell you we weren't anywhere near finished didn't I?" Diamond said as he walked in. "Now calm down with all of that weeping. I know you feel guilty, but everything turned out alright, you can't change the past. You can only be there for their future." Jay sniffled, "You're right. But tomorrow I am going to find that cursed facility and come back here to form a proper strike force." "Okay. I can agree to that. BUT, none of that 'one man army still injured crap. We do this as a family"

The next morning came and Jay told both his brother and his Father about his plan and they eventually agreed after the doctor's fretting. Nearly everyone in the family wanted revenge. He said goodbye to his mate and an awkward hello to Dawn and Dusk. He then walked out towards the center of camp, glazing thoughtfully up at the sky. Sun gleaming down, he stretched out his wings, both about five feet long, sending the sun beams flashing across the camp. An amazed gasp came from his kids, and he looked over at them, smiling charmingly and then took off in a huge gust, in the direction he was found.

Logan started making calls on Jay's behalf, but no one was able to come. When Jay got back they found out the facility was about ten miles outside of their border. "Sorry son, I couldn't get any extra help, I really tried." "This is a family matter anyway." Suddenly thunder rumbled and a dark cloudy portal emerged at the edge of camp, and Lucifer stepped out. A tan lion with sleek black mane hair, in a sharp black satin suit with a crimson red pocket square. He flashed a dashing smile and walked over to Jay, hugging his old friend. "Look, I'm sorry I couldn't help before…" Jay cut him off. "It was against celestial laws, yeah I know." "Yeah… but I'm here now!" Lucifer continued with an apologetic tone. "And I will do anything to make those bastards pay. It's time to punish evil." His blood orange eyes bore into Logan until the King nodded in approval of his assistance. Almost everyone was shocked by his presence. Jay just started laughing as he saw Dusk bolding strolling right up to him. She looked him in the eye and said "You better bring him back to us this time." Lucifer smiled admirably at her, squatted down, and put his paw on his chest. "I swear on my immortal soul to do so." "Good." she said affirmatively and then stalked off, tail held high. "That kid's bold," Lucifer chuckled to Jay. "Yeah. That's one of my daughters," Jay replied. "Her name is Dusk, and the other one over there is Dawn. But she doesn't like me much." "Yup! That explains it. I like them already." That exact moment Logan's voice rang out across the entire camp. "ALRIGHT EVERYONE! We will be making our assault tomorrow night. Get some rest."

The friendly Devil just sat in the middle of camp all of the next day, sort of observing and meditating. Dusk eventually walked up to him and started having a very heated conversation with him. Everyone just kept amusingly giggling at her, amazed at her audacity.

The time had come, the sun was setting. "Me and Lucifer are going to fly ahead and scope it out. We will make no moves until the rest of you arrive." Lucifer gave him a mischievous smile and unfurled his giant white fluffy wings, and Jay followed, less gracefully. As soon as the rest of the group arrived, following Jay's GPS tracker, him and Lucifer silently took out the guards stealthily and then high-fived like a couple of teenagers. Roman broke down the door and the others streamed in, bullets and claws flying. They took down the entire building in a matter of minutes, blood being sprained everywhere. They finally got into the cells in the back and released the prisoners. Brian came in after the strike team and triaged the prisoners they had found. Logan walked over to Jay. "I've been through a lot, but honestly, even I'm a little traumatized by the conditions you were kept in son." Jay gave him a shrug and a sideways glance, and then entered the cell his friend was kept in. "Hey Crux." he said gently, leaning down towards him. It's me Jay. We're gonna get you out of here." Crux was huddled over in the corner, barely conscious from all of the brain surgeries and experiments. Brian stabilized him and had others carry him out. "I'll be right back," Jay nodded to his brother. He flew Crux home, got him comfortable, and then flew back to pick up the next victim.

It took them a little over an hour to clear out the facility with Lucifer helping to also carry back survivors. Everyone that needed medical attention was spread out around the medical den, the worst were put inside for immediate help. Diamond's cubs were old enough to go back to Brian and Diamond's den away from all of the sickness. Jay gave a thorough cleaning of Crystal's face before settling into bed that night. She had spent the entire time worrying of course, and this was the first time he had slept in his den since he had been rescued. Dawn was unhappy about his presence and kept groaning about it to her sister. Dusk had barely spoken to their Father since he had found out, so that her sister didn't feel betrayed, but she longed to be near him. No matter what Dawn said within earshot, Jay just kept purring away.

Though Jay, had had his chest bandages off for awhile now, the following morning he felt like he should be among the hospitalized. Him, Lucifer, Brian, and Diamond sat in the middle of camp, having a conversation. Crux hobbled up, Dusk bouncing along at his heels, badgering him with questions about his telepathic abilities. "I think congratulations are in order my friend." he said to Jay. Then he shook hands with Lucifer and thanked him for his help. Lucifer chucked at Jay and said "Honestly Dark Prince, I'm really surprised you don't have a whole bunch of children." Jay gave him an inquirous glance and then shrugged. "Well after what they did to me, I may very well be sterile. Anyway, Brian's always been considered the oh so hot golden boy. At the parties at school I remember I was the reserved one in the corner having conversations, while my brother over here was the dance animal everyone wanted to grind on." Brian pretended to be offended and then gestured with his paws "Ohhh. You want some of ALL of this brother?" "Ugh, Jesus." "You better come over here and get you some." Brian jeered patting his chest. "You're unbelievable." "Yeahhhhhh. But you love me."

Brian eventually broke off from the group to do his evening rounds with Jewel helping. Lucifer bid his farewells to Jay saying "Well I should get back before the demons get out of hand. Hope I can visit soon again and NOT see you any other way. Okay?" he half heartedly joked. Then he just kind of poofed away into one of his portals.

Jay was feeling lonely and broody all of a sudden with everyone running about and tending to patients. Everyone except him seemed like they had something important to do. He slowly approached Dusk from behind and shyly spoke. "You know… I really miss my friend." Dawn walked up to her sister's side and gave him a harsh look. "Look, I get it! I'm new at being a father, okay?" he said to her. "I wasn't there for you when I should have been. Though it's not completely my fault, I'm here for you both now and I'm never going anywhere ever again. Be angry with me if you must, but all I ask is that you give me a chance, just one, to do right by you." he sighed. "Right now I just want a friend... Anyone want to play full vampire speed tag? No one else can play this game." Dusk perked up instantly, giving her sister a pleading stare. Dawn was hesitant at first, but then agreed. She was bored too. All of them were worn out by the time bedtime came around, having spread havoc zipping around the camp after each other.
