Prom

I can never accept this! No one should stay beside him but me! No one has the right to stay with you. This burning flame in my heart seems getting worst I don’t think it can be suppressed.

Just wait, I’ll wreck every piece of you, cutting you down into tiny pieces of my wrath.

Today, I saw them together again but chose to ignore it. They’re a sore to my eyes they will come at me for sure after the things they are going to experience. The transferee is staying here for a week so for sure everything is settled for her.

Having him beside her makes it all easier.

We are in the P.E. class today. Everyone gathered in the gym except the three of us. After fixing my things, I followed them to the gym and the activity started in a bit after that. We are in the middle of the activity when suddenly the girl he brought collapse with big rashes all over her face and body.

My lips formed a smile because of that.

Of course, I did that. Emily Walkins, 18 years old, allergic to seafood. I search everything about her. “know your enemy” is the first thing to do right? I stayed silent and just sat on one of the benches while watching him panicking over the rashes on the woman’s body.

I sat to the area where he will pass by to show him that it’s me and he didn’t disappoint me, he actually knew! He glared at me and I smiled at him – sweetly. How could he actually tell? HAHAHAHAHAHA this is going to be fun I can tell.

The next pranks I pulled was much worst than that. Everyone is having a good time today because of the upcoming school event—the prom. I don’t want to spoil the fun so I stayed quiet on the corner of the room.

I started reading the book I brought from home and put on my earphone. I’m reading for almost half an hour when suddenly Emily scream in fear and I can’t stop laughing in my mind.

What happened? The bitch’s hair is burning on fire. But I’m too far to do that plus there’s no enough time for me.

She has more haters than I expected huh?

I continued reading and ignored everything but someone snatch the book away from me. It was him, Thomas.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing huh?!” he shouted at me and it hurts.

“I didn’t do that, you don’t have the right to accuse me.” I stand up and look at him sharply. “It appears that it wasn’t just me who doesn’t want her here.” He looks at me with the same intensity as mine and we had the staring battle.

He pulled his stares back, of course, he doesn’t have any evidence to prove his accusation so he marches back to his girl. The heck with that. He left but his eyes are still accusing me and I can’t do anything about that but to ignore it.

A week passed and everyone is preparing for the prom. They are excited but I’m not. Most of them are busy asking someone to be their partner in the prom night and I got no interest in that.

I’m reading a book again when someone speak. “will you be my partner in the prom night?” suddenly, the time stopped. My heart beats faster than usual. But eventually, everything goes back to normal again.

It wasn’t him, damn.

I glared at the guy and he seems scared so he walked away. The whole day passed by like it was nothing for me. 5:30 pm, I was walking to the school gate but I notice something—no someone in the back of the building and I think I know who are those but I still chose to come near.

I already have an idea what is the conversation is about so I chose to left after confirming the figures in the back of the building. I walk away, pretending not to hear anything, but I did.

“Hey can you be my prom date?”

A tear fell down.

I don’t want to think about it too much so I run fast. I run very fast until I get tired

but my thought didn’t vanish.

Everything is so unclear to me but the next thing I knew is I’m already home. I’m giving it a hard thought whether to attend the prom or not. I don’t think I belong there is the first place.

But I’m attending it.

I’m here in my room and someone is doing my make up for me. I wanted to look like a witch or a drag queen but my auntie pinched me saying it doesn’t suit me because of my innocent look. I’ve got no choice but to follow her. My hair is fixed in a messy bun with a little strand in both sides. Tonight, I’m wearing a ball gown. It is color white with a see-through design on top from the sleeves up to the chest part. The dress is also filled with shining diamonds and sequins as well. I wore a 3 inches wedge heels to partner my outfit.

After the preparation, we headed to the venue. At exactly 7 pm the program started. Everyone is walking in the entrance of the venue. When it was my turn, everyone looked at me but I only want to look at him. There I saw him beside Emily looking serious. Suddenly his scenario yesterday reminded me again.

The main event started and I’m in the corner watching everyone enjoying the night. Some of them are eating while others are interacting with other students. The coronation is still on going but it already reaches the last part which is awarding ceremony for the winners.

Everyone clapped their hands when it’s already the Ms. Prom’s turn. The program for Mr. and Mrs. Prom just got finish so everyone is having a break. A couple of minutes later, all the lights turned off and the crowd are shouting their lungs out. A sign that we are approaching the highlight of the event, the slow dance.

Little by little, the guys are walking to their partner and offer their hand. They will go to the middle and dance slowly to the rhythm of the music.

(Now playing, Can I have this dance)

Take my hand, take breath

The dance floor is slowly being occupied.

Pull me close and take one step

Keep your eyes locked on mine

Everyone in the middle are slowly catching up to the beat of the music.

And let the music be your guide..

Won’t you promise me? (now won’t you promise me?)

(That you’ll never forget) we’ll keep dancing

(keep dancing) wherever we go next

They are still dancing but the clock ticks and everyone is screaming

What’s happening?

It's like catching lightning

The chances of finding someone like you

They started counting.

It's one in a million

5….

The chances of feeling the way we do

4…

And with every step together

3…

We just keep on getting better

2…

So can I have this dance

1….

(Can I have this dance)

Can I have this dance

And the clock strikes at 12. As if on cue, everyone kissed…

My heart stopped beating that moment. I saw them…

Doing the same… as others did.
