Chapter 11: Embarrassed & Plan

Darius stood at Amoy's side, silently watching as she spoke to potential business partners. The way she faked a smile and forced a laugh so naturally always surprised him, the way she knew what to say to someone to make their whole mood change, impressed him she was the perfect businesswoman almost too good.

"You'll have to invite me next time promise?" She asked flashing the man, Mr Tanner her irresistible smile.

"Of course." He smiled as well placing his empty glass on the table.

"I'm holding you to that promise, do have a goodnight." She waved as he left, her eyes scanned the room looking for her next target, she had done her research on everyone invited she was going to try and get some business deals sealed.

"Do you want a drink?" Darius asked her sipping his 5th drink? He had no idea.

"No, but are you sure you can handle so many drinks?" He nods.

"This is nothing, don't worry." She looked up at him.

"I wasn't worrying. Your friend is here, you should go talk to her." His eyes went to the elevator where Emerald stood, in a glittery white dress, her emerald necklace was still around her neck, her blonde hair was pulled back into a bun a few strands of hair was in her face, her eyes met his, a smile graced her face lighting up her face. He turned back to Amoy to excuse himself but he saw she was across the room talking to another potential business partner so he walked over to Emerald.

"Emerald, you look amazing." She smiled brightly. "Thank you, Darius, you don't look so bad yourself."

"I'll take that as a compliment. How are you?" He asked leading her away from the elevator just in case more people came.

"I'm feeling a bit better today since Daniel is doing a lot better." She informed him, even though Darius didn't know Daniel personally he could tell he was a good person.

"Good to hear, I hope he wakes up soon."

"I hope so too, where is your wife? I've been dying to meet her." He smiled glancing back at Amoy who was now talking to Zane, he wondered for a second what Xavier would do if he was her and saw them.

"Here I thought you came here for charity." He said amused, looking into her emerald eyes once again.

"That is part of the reason, now introduce us." She ordered, he placed his hands up in defence making her chuckle.

"Alright, follow me." He walked over to Amoy clearing his throat catching her attention as well as Zane's.

"Baby this is my friend, Emerald, Emerald this is my wife Amoy." Amoy raised her eyebrow slightly at 'Baby' but didn't say anything knowing it was all a part of an act, she shook Emerald's hand with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Darius has told me so much about you," Amoy said that was partly true.

"All good things I hope."

"Of course, I'm going to get a drink, do you ladies want anything?" Darius asked while Emerald shook her head Amoy said.

"Water." Zane followed him also feeling like drinking once they arrived at the bar, they both took a seat on the wooden stools.

"Tequila?" Darius asked Zane, the man nodded just as the bartender came before them. "Two shots of tequila and a glass of water, please."

He turned in his seat eyes going to Amoy, he hadn't really taken in her attire as he was too focused on his own thoughts but looking at her now, he had to admit she looked absolutely stunning, she wore a simple black dress but she had a way to make it look like the most beautiful thing in the world, the dress had thin straps, it was tight on her showing off every single curve her body had, it wasn't short nor was it long. Her hair was out in an elegant afro since she didn't like to straighten her hair since she preferred leaving it natural.

He had to admit it was weird how he knew all of these things about her, but it was just little things he picked up on from living with her for so long, her eyes strayed from Emerald for a second going to his as she felt his gaze, he immediately looked away embarrassed he had gotten caught watching her.

"Darius, the drinks," Zane said he turned back to the bar, drinking the shot of tequila in one go knowing he would need it to face Amoy right now, he reached for the glass of water she asked for before he walked to her he turned to Zane.

"Are you staying here?" Even though Darius really didn't give a shit, he had to ask so he didn't seem rude for leaving him behind.

"Yeah, go ahead, I'll join you in a minute." And he did, it didn't take long for him to reach Amoy, he handed her the water avoiding her gaze still feeling a bit awkward.

"So what are you both talking about?" He inquired they both had devious smiles on their faces letting him know it was nothing good.

"Stuff." He raised his eyebrow.

"Sounds suspicious, but I'm glad you two are getting along."

William sat in his car ringing Xavier, he immediately answered. "Liam, what can I do for you?"

"Xavier, you don't have to talk like that with me, could you open the gate?"

"I call you Liam that's already way out of my comfort zone, and I'm on it." He hung up and It didn't take long for the big black gates to open, William drove in parking in front of his daughter's home before marching to the front door, which Xavier opened with a smile.

"How are you?" William asked bringing him into a hug. "I'm doing good Liam, how are you?" They pulled back from the hug as he walked deeper inside the house seeing not much change.

"Not so good." Xaver closed the door going to the kitchen, he followed behind him. "Why not? What happened?" He was about to speak but stopped himself looking around on guard.

"Is anyone here?" The butler shook his head, taking out wine glasses.

"I sent everyone home, tell me do you still fancy white wine?" Liam nods watching Xavier fetch a bottle of wine from the counter, pouring its contents in the glasses he took out.

"Well Darius's parents, his real parents want me to push Amoy into Darius's hands and make her fall in love like she's a toy, they threatened to break the contract if I don't comply." He sighed handing him a glass of wine, William took a sip savouring its taste.

"Listen to their wishes."

"That's the last thing I expected to hear from you."

"Well what can I say, I'm tired of seeing Amoy being with the wrong people, Darius is amazing, thoughtful and kind even though his parents want to force them together, you have to admit they aren't a bad pair, all I want for Amoy is happiness and I know Darius can give her that, he just doesn't know it yet."

"That's true but how are we going to trick Amoy? That girl is smart she realizes the smallest things and she has given up on relationships since her mother and I got divorced."

"Don't worry I have a plan," Xavier assured him.
