To Survive

"You, Kid. Kill that Old Man"

William said, gesturing into the darkness the broken edifice held.

"You, Kid. You can do that right?"

William asked...

With one of the most menacing grin, Jin had ever seen.

.....

"WHAT?"

Jin's facial expressions had a sudden change as he heard what William asked him to do.

The sudden change in his expression was possibly caused due to the unexpected question he was hit with.

Even though Jin was caught by surprise, somehow, he felt strange as he realized that deep down he was expecting something out of the blue to happen.

And right now, it had just struck him.

"Didn't you hear me Kid?. Go bring that old fart here and kill him."

William said as he maintained the same grin he had a minute ago.

"What makes you think that I'll listen to you?"

Jin asked.

He knew this was one hell of a stupid question to ask as it was clear as day to him why the man before him was ordering him around to do the dirty work.

It was because he was Stronger.

But yet, Jin, just like the cliche main characters he had read about, felt the urge to ask back something... anything to William, but it was not a mindless question like others would do.

He asked him so that he could find enough time, find enough time in which he could think for the precise strategies he could conceivably do next to escape from his prevailing quandary.

William on hearing his words retreated his menacing grin in such a slow manner that Jin felt the aura change around him.

Every speck of details William had in his face vanished as he held a poker face before Jin.

The change in the aura around him was enough to make Jin tremble for a second, but the poker face procured more than just a tremble to Jin.

Jin was a person who believed expressionless people were more dangerous than people who showed them.

Because when someone hides their expression, their motive is completely under the curtains, hidden from the outside world but clear as a day to the person himself/herself.

And that could be dangerous, especially if the person who you were against was double if not triple the times stronger than you.

Jin, in his defense, tried to maintain a straight face as well but failed miserably as he broke into a cold sweat.

The reason he was being hesitant, was because he was smart and he knew the consequences.

[Listen Jin, You knew we would have to go through this path once we made the choice. Killing someone is just inevitable.]

The Demon Lord spoke, intruding Jin's puzzled thoughts as he understood Jin's reluctance.

According to his books, He wanted to motivate Jin.

'Yes, I know it. But. Outright killing someone the day we made the choice was not within my expectations...'

Jin replied telepathically. He clenched his teeth and folded his fists. He was not able to accept killing someone himself, that too this early before he could get a grasp on the situation before him.

[Now for that... I have nothing to say. It's your choice to make. But I'm pretty sure this man means business, and I know it from the way he's talking to you]

'I agree. He's not the one to joke'

Jin replied.

William, on the other side, was observing Jin's actions. His eyes were dead locked on him and his actions.

But what he did next took Jin by surprise, again.

William Watts let his head bob for a second before it bowed down.

A sigh escaped as his lips parted.

"Listen, kid. What are you hesitating for?. That old man came to kill you. So you do the same to him. It's that simple"

He said.

"At your age, I was killing people left and right. For your information, You wouldn't find a speck of hesitation on my face as I drew blood."

William finished.

Author's note.

I've found my groove again, I think so. Your views on this chapter would be hella helpful because the main story of this novel will soon begin and I believe it's twisted, like a lot. Haha. That was it, and I can say, something amazing yet confusing might happen in the next chapter.
