Curse you

I walked through the woods staring at the event screen. I have over three hundred gems, if I find Psye she can pass too. There's almost two and a half hours left so what should I do? Are there monsters here? Some other way to earn gems? Should I have killed those players?

"Howdy Assassin"

An ominous presence creeped up my spine, every warning signal firing in my body. My instincts are shouting at me, blaring and screaming. RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hand tensed around my knife stabbing backwards without a hint of energy lost, my entire body running on a honed reflex built up over thousands of years.

My arm flailed out stabbing at the air carving through the wind and stabbing outwards. But as I did my arm was thrust into the ground and my entire body flipped over. And I fell face first onto the mud. Then placing my hand on the ground I went to stand up looking into the eyes of my opponent.

"Attacking an Admin? Not a good idea."

"Oh it's just you yuki."

"Yeah sorry I have to be in my player avatar so the admins can't kill you."

I pulled my hand out from under the trident and stood up dusting the mud and dirt from my face.

"They really want to do that?"

"Yeah we all want you to stop playing."

"That hurts."

"I wouldn't worry about it… Kyn still likes you"

"But wants me to die"

"He wants to fight you so kinda."

"So why are you here?"

"Because we are supposed to check on anyone who gains Gems at an alarming rate and you grabbed over two hundred in just a second."

"Yeah but don't you know it's me?"

"No preferential treatment I'm afraid, so how'd you do it?"

"A bunch of players teamed up to try to defeat me so I used, twin slash charge to cut 120 of them at once."

Yuki brought his hand up trying to stifle a laugh.

"That seems to check out but try not to grab all of the gems. I know God said you could but seriously dick move man,"

"They attacked me first"

"Haha, fine I'll let you off this time. But try not to do that too often, God hates people who bully the weak."

"Hmm fine but to be fair you did give me this op ability"

"I thought you say no ability is op"

"Touche, hey I have a question."

"Go on."

"Why do you call God, God like, doesn't he have a less arrogant name?"

"Hahahah maybe you should ask him when you win?"

"Cold… just cold."

"Well I'll be off, see ya"

Yuki waved and turned to dust drifting off into the sky. His body burning and turning into a blue mist.

Now what? Do I find Psye or any of the others? How big is this map anyway?

"AAAAAAAAAAAH HELP MEEEE!!!!!!!!!"

The screams came from the distance, a shrill cry moving through the forest. Finally something to do.

I chased the sound, my feet springing off the soft forest ground and launching me forward. The trees passing by like bullets, the leaves whistling and rustling as I pass.

"Just fucking die you damn noob"

"We've stabbed you like thirty times, why won't you die?"

"Help me please someone!!!"

In front of me was a small boy, he had a soft face and a miserable expression, his cheeks were stained from tears and his green eyes looked so sad. His hair was soft and pure, he seemed so innocent, something about him made me want to help, it made me want to protect him.. He was being chased relentlessly by two kids with swords who were stabbing outwards and slicing into his back every time he slowed down, they're right… he should be dead.

I jumped down in front of the kids catching their swords.

"You know I just heard that God doesn't like people who bully the weak."

"Shut up you fucking scraper he's ours we've been at this for like ten minutes."

"Yeah fuck off you asshole."

I ripped the swords from their hands, the blades cutting into my hands.

"Children like you shouldn't play with such dangerous weapons."

"What the hell do you think you are?"

"That depends how many gems do you two have?"

"Sixty"

"Then someone who's about to get sixty gems."

"What about you asshole, I bet you don't even have one."

"The opinion of brats like you two doesnt matter to me."

The wind behind me began to sprint and shift into bullets.

"Oh shit I know who he is!"

"Yeah that's ItsAssassin!!"

"Fuck man we shouldn't have said that, just let us go yeah?"

"Sorry no… you annoyed me now."

I let the bullets fly and they sliced through the boys, their bodies deforming and evaporating into smoke and mist.

"Th… thank you sir."

"Uum no problem I guess."

"How can I repay you?"

"Don't worry about it. Maybe find me after this event and then we can talk, even get you a little better at this game?"

"Really? Thanks!"

"And take these."

I dropped a hundred gems onto the floor and walked away smiling back at his shocked face.

"UUUM!"

"Yeah?"

"Just how many Gems do you have?"

"Around three hundred"

His eyes gleaming with appreciation and admiration.

"Hey tell me… what's your name?"

"I'm sea..."

With that I walked off into the distance.

Two hours passed by quickly, I was attacked by thirty players and defeated all of them but never found Psye or anyone else. The event itself was pretty boring… I would've preferred it if there were monsters or something for the better players to do however by the look of the leaderboard people were constantly changing places. There were about ten people with a hundred gems but names weren't cited, only ranking numbers. I can't remember Psyes ranking but every member of my guild was passing, there was only one player I didn't recognise. Number 488… They were placing second in the event despite me never hearing about them.

I hope I get to meet them… or better yet fight them. Perhaps they have some trick for PKing or a skill that is only effective against players.

"E!!!!!!!!!!"

A scream echoed through the woods, almost making me fall out of my perch. I was sitting on a branch of a tree staring at my screen.

I jumped upwards climbing the tree and staring down at the origin of the scream.

"E! Where are you!?!"

E?? Could they be looking for me? Who knows that name? Probably someone from my last game. Maybe Bana? Or someone else? I dropped down to the ground drawing my knife and keeping in the cover of the shadows.

"Lee!!! I know you're here! Come out!"

I walked out from the trees, my knife hiding inside my sleeve.

"E? I'm afraid I don't know anyone with that name."

"Hey Lee."

"Bana… what's happening?"

Bana was before me his sword by his leg and his teeth gritted,

"Fight me!"

"What?"

"FIGHT ME!!!!!"

"Is this a joke?"

"YOU NEVER TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!!!! I'M FUCKING SICK OPFF IT!!!!!! FIGHT ME AND STOP ACTING LIKE I'M SOME CHILD ASSHOLE!!!!!"

"What do you mean?"

"Every game we play!!! Every time you're better!!! And then… you fucking look down at me. It pisses me off. Stop! You wouldn't steal my skill out of pity and you don't even look at me like i'm at your level"

"What do y..."

"SHUT UP!!!!"

MY head was blown with questions. My eyes wide with shock. How could I be so stupid?

"I'm sorry, but I won't fight you..."

"WHY!!!!"

"Right now… when the event is over or if we have to fight in the event I'll gladly do it."

"You bastard!"

"Heh heh probably."

I walked away leaving him, his shoulders raised and his fists clenched rage spilling out from his body as he stared at the floor.
