It was Her

The silenced sounds of fists pounding into flesh, each recoiled slam, rippling through my body with a senseless hollow feeling of boredom. My body slumped into the corner, bringing a small rag out to wipe the piercing red from my fingers; the encrusted dried scars filling my once pale calloused fingers.

"I get chills every time I watch you!"

My head rolled backwards, staring blankly into his corrupted face, the scars across his skin filled with joy as he stared down at me. As if he was a child enjoying a new toy.

"It's only been half a month, and you already got used to this!?! I guess games really do desensitized you!"

"And yet a freak like you has never touched a game."

"True true maybe we're just a different breed."

I stood up, passing by Lev as I left the door to the small apartment opening with the lightest of touch, the dishevelled tear soaked face behind me hardly able to move. The two of us walked out into the greying day, the fresh air sinking into my lungs.

"That was the last job for this week, I always get so many breaks when I'm around you!"

"Maybe because you don't do anything."

"Well, you just look like you're having so much fun."

"Yeah, yeah, just make sure the money goes to my sister."

"How can you have such little trust for your loving boss?"

"Because my boss is a two bit high school bully."

"Your words cut like a knife."

I broke away from him, my footsteps isolated in the whistling winds. Each strand of bellowing air intertwined and weaved through the stoic trees that lined the road.

I'm pathetic, how did everything get like this? How have I fallen this far?

I was stupid to think someone like me could become… anything.

That I could somehow protect them. I don't care any more, I don't care what I have to do… as long as she… I shouldn't even have the right to be a brother… I haven't been home in half a year, I doubt anyone noticed, though. The small bell rang as I pushed through the door, the steamy aroma floated around me, the subtle smell of spicy beef wafting around the air.

As my hands coiled around the warm pastry, the bread sinking into my hands and splashing a blissful burning into the fingers. I stepped outside the door opening before me, letting my eyes stay on the marvellous concoction of food. But as I was about to step into the cold, my shoulder hit someone…

The brown flowing hair that shined gently to the grey clouds. Her beautiful sparkling eyes… every part of her smashing into my stomach breaking past my ribs and crushing everything… I almost dropped the bun in shock.

It was her
