War Of Beliefs (2)

"A war that started in a small city over land and money soon expanded into an all-out war between all species of the planet of Clovia." Aysel spoke in the voice of a narrator that made Aiden almost imagine the scene in front of his eyes.

"The Elves, which are the most cunning species, started making alliances while spreading rumors. This resulted in people questioning their allies while thinking about their enemies. But one thing that changed the entire thing was the involvement of the demon race.

Back then, the demon race was extremely poor. We didn't have enough food to feed everyone and millions of demons died. But the war changed everything. The demon king at that time played a huge gamble that would decide whether the demon race would survive or not.

Since all the demons had grown up struggling and had battled wild beasts for food, they were all as powerful as soldiers. So the demon king announced that any race could hire the demon race as mercenaries. And the instant he announced that, everything changed.

Every single race was giving money to hire demon mercenaries and the demon king started to gather all the money. He knew that this wouldn't last for long enough because the other species would soon figure out that they could basically buy spies and send them to other species' kingdoms.

And since everyone was buying mercenaries and soldiers, no one would notice."

The only sound heard in Aiden's room was of his mother. After all, he was so engrossed in the story that he didn't make any noise while breathing.

"As soon as he had enough money to last for generations, he recalled all of the demons. But unfortunately, that resulted in many races becoming hostile towards the demon race. And because of that, the gods from the demon race were forced to step in.

And the war only got worse from there onwards. But the gods soon realized that there would be no winner in the end. After all, billions had died, out of which, many were gods who they had known.

So all of them decided to call a truce to the war."

Even though Aiden had a feeling that something like this would happen, he was surprised to hear that it took this long for them to call a truce.

"Gods are beings of immense pride Aiden. No one was going to back out but when a few primordial gods said that it was enough, everything came to a stop."

"Primordial gods?" Aiden suddenly interrupted with his question.

"Gods are also divided into categories. Primordial gods, as you can already guess, are the oldest of gods. The god of time, the god of space, the goddess of justice are a few examples of primordial gods."

"So there are the oldest and strongest of gods?" Aysel nodded before she explained it in more detail.

"Primordial gods have the highest number of believers. Take justice for example, it has been there for millenniums and that power gave birth to the goddess of justice. After them comes the mythological gods. They have many temples dedicated to them and are extremely famous.

Then are the fable gods. They are not as famous as the mythological gods but still have a good number of followers. They can be also known as local gods or patron gods. And at last, are the new gods who have recently advanced to godhood."

"Then what about fallen gods." Aysel had mentioned all the categories except fallen gods.

"Fallen gods rarely existed before but after the war, many gods fell. This only happens when their followers lose their faith in the gods and they are forced into this state. Fallen gods can't live anywhere near other gods and are basically shamed for life."

"Then did the Shadow God lose all his followers in the war?" Aiden asked as Aysel shook her head.

"The shadow god was a mythological grade god before he fell. This was because a primordial god forcefully turned him into a fallen god. He was deprived of his followers, his temples, his status, and his power.

This was because he was one of the first gods who interfered in the war and the reason was for protecting one of his most trusted followers. But even after becoming a fallen god, the god of shadows can rival many fable gods." Aysel finished her explanation but Aiden still had a question left.

"How do you know all this if he was deprived of everything?" He asked as Aysel grinned.

"Out of the millions of copies made about the shadow god, no one would notice a few missing copies," Aysel replied as her grin widened a little. "And since this was such a major event, it is written in history books with all these details."

"Anyways, your food will come here in a few moments. You should eat that and get some sleep." Aysel then stood up from the bed.

"Mother, what happened to the people you caught in the forest?" Aysel was about to teleport away but stopped when she heard Aiden's question.

"They are all dead."

"But didn't you say that you won't let them die even if they wished to?"

"That was my original thought but they died while the torture." Aysel said with a shrug as she teleported away.

< Are you upset about their brutal deaths host? > The system suddenly came back as soon as his mother had vanished.

"Sad? They got what they deserved." He replied as he remember a major detail he had forgotten when the people had cornered him.

"All of them had been humans system."

< I know host. > The system replied as Aiden sighed and stared at the ceiling.

"So a god's power depends on the amounts of followers or believers they have?"

< Yes and no host. There are some gods like the Shadow god who were born strong. Having a hundred or so average followers won't make much difference for them. But if a special person like you were to become their follower, it would make a major.

Just like how a new God could become as powerful as a fable God with a strong follower. But if that God was born powerful, he would be able to rival many Fable grade gods. >

"Enough of a change to shift the balance of power?"

< Yes host, enough of a change to shift the balance of power. >

Aiden then went silent as he could feel sleep slowly coming his way.

'Guess I will practice for the exams later.' He thought while yawning.

He closed his eyes for a few seconds and immediately fell asleep.

< I wish I could tell you everything host. >
