Baldrums Reward
Kaito and his skeletons walked through to forest towards the town, the sunlight painted the tops of the forest trees in an orange hue.
The crickets started playing their melody as chirps filled the forest, a pleasant background noise for a stroll.
The group didn't meet any other wolfs along their journey and soon enough they finally spotted the town.
Kaito walked straight towards the gate and stopped just outside.
He waved his hand and a faint purple light radiated from his palm.

As the bones began crumbling Kaito walked past the south gate and back into the town, once he reached the town square he saw lots of players.
Some players were talking to each other about their first day in the game, others were running around haphazardly.
A few players had sat down in the middle of the square, and in front of them there were items for sale on a blanket-
"Rabbit pelts for sale! 2 pelts for 6 coppar! come get your rabbit pelts!" one player shouted out.
Another player tried to outshine the other merchants by standing up and making wild gestures with his arms to catch the attention of potential customers-
"I'm selling this Rabbit Sword for the cheap price of 20 silvers!" some players looked his way and he smiled and continued- "As you're all aware the rabbits have incredibly sharp teeth." a small pause as he looked around before continuing.
"Well, now you can wield the same sharpness with this sword!, razor sharp rabbit teeth fill the sides of the blade, making it a deadly weapon, ONLY 20 SILVER!"
A crowd was created around the player selling the sword, a few players were trying to barter, some wanted the man to show the stats of the weapon, Kaito lost interest and started to walk away as he heard another shout-
"Selling Wolf Meat!!! 1 piece for 5 silver!!" A player exclaimed.
Some players made their way towards the player and wanted to see if he really was selling wolf meat.
A group of players stood a bit to the side talking to each other-
"i only have 10 copper, 1 piece wolf meat is 50 copper, how much do you guys have?" one said, looking around at his group
"i have 15 copper that i got from a quest, we only need 25 more and we might have enough" another replied
Kaito furrowed his brow and looked confused, '50 copper for 1 piece of wolf meat? and people want to buy it?'
He pondered for a while, 'it must be some sort of scam, right? maybe i should tell him off'.
Kaito walked up to the player selling the wolf meat and asked-
"isn't that too expensive for just 1 piece of wolf meat?"
The player looked at Kaito and wrinkled his nose "What kind of question is that? wolfs are super rare to find right now and they are hard to kill"
Kaito was taken aback,'rare? hard to kill? but he had fought wolfs, right?'
"Is acquiring wolf meat really that hard?" Kaito asked the player.
The player looked annoyed-
"You've clearly never fought a wolf, you need at least three skilled players to take one down and they don't show up very often"
Kaito slowly nodded and simply replied "Okay, i see" before turning around and starting to walk away.
The player selling wolf meat let out a sigh and muttered "What a noob" and then looked up the white haired player walking away, that's when he spotted the player's name- "Insane".
The player opened his mouth, shocked, "no, it can't be, no, i must have seen wrong" he closed his eyes and opened them once more, Kaito had already disappeared in the crowd.
Kaito was making his way to "The Huntsman", pondering about the odd prices of the wolf meat, 'were the wolfs really that hard to kill? had i faced easier wolfs? or were my skeletons just too strong right now?'
He opened the door, still deep in thoughts when he was greeted by a thunderous voice-
"Welcome lad'!, You're back so soon? i guess you didn't have any luck with those wolfs did ya?, well i can't blame ya'! Hard to hunt, they are, those sneaky wolfs" Baldrum exclaimed as he saw Kaito enter the shop.
Kaito looked at Baldrum and replied "Greetings friend! i'm back, and i have some meat with me from the hunt!"
"You have some meat for me?" Baldrums raised an eyebrow "How much?"
Kaito waved his hand and on top of the desk appeared 20 pieces of wolf meat.
Baldrum was speechless, "Y-y-you did it lad, but how? you came back so soon"

"Well, i had quite the effective hunt, plus i was lucky, i found a dead deer in the forest which became the perfect bait for the wolfs" Kaito replied while he looked at his level and experience.

The 80 points of experience gave him a good boost, He closed the window and looked up at Baldrum once more.
Baldrum seemed to be deep in thought, dragging his fingers through his beard- "Oh, i see, that's smart lad', to use the scent of the deer as bait. But you must have had friends by your side to help you?"
Kaito was unsure of how to answer, "i kinda did, i used my summons to fight"
As Kaito spoke Baldrum's expression became serious, he leaned forward in his small chair.
"Aye, you're a Necromancer lad', is that right?"
Kaito nodded and Baldrum thought for a while before continuing-
"You'd better be careful with that', summoning those undead creatures of yours doesn't sit well with most people of this town"
Kaito nodded slowly, he had already guessed that this was the case. The Shadowy figure who had offered him the necromancer class had led him into a dark alley after all.
Baldrum piped up-
"But i'd love to see your summons someday lad, i really want to know how you defeated so many wolfs on your own". Baldrum smiled at Kaito
Kaito felt a sense of relief, he didn't quite know why, was he happy that Baldrum wasn't wary of him? he shook of the feeling and replied "Yeah, sure, i could show you sometime"
The big man closed his eyes and nodded, delighted, but suddenly Baldrum's eyes lit up, slightly panicked-
"Oh! you'd of course want a reward don't you lad?!'" He started to walk around in the shop, looking through drawers and opening boxes, his wooden peg legs shook the whole building as his massive figure moved around.
Suddenly, he stopped, he looked back at Kaito and muttered to himself "maybe...". Baldrum walked into store's storage room.
Kaito waited by the desk patiently until Baldrum showed up again, he was carrying a small box and put it down on the desk in front of Kaito.
Kaito looked at Baldrum and then on the box and gently opened it, what met him was a necklace laying in the box, a silver necklace with a green stone pendant.
Baldrum softly spoke -
"This belonged to my son, he followed his father's footsteps and became a hunter just like me." A mournful expression was shown on Baldrums face, he continued -
"You see, I lost more than just my two legs on my last hunting trip. I also lost my son, my dear son..." Tears were forming in Baldrums eyes and he no longer looked at kaito, he looked down on his hands that had formed into fists, his knuckles were becoming white as he tried to keep the sorrow inside of him.
"His mother, my wife, passed away when my boy was at a young age. He only had me, i was supposed to protect him, i was supposed to not let anything hurt him..." Tears were now rolling down the cheeks of Baldrum
"But i reacted too late... I couldn't save him" Baldrum put his face into his hands.
Kaito didn't really know how to react, but as if moving on instinct he walked up to Baldrum and put a hand on his shoulder, he knew the feeling of losing someone dear, and he saw how much pain this man was in.
Baldrum grabbed Kaito's hand and gently squeezed it, the room turned silent for a few minutes before Baldrum cleared his throat and wiped away his tears.
His usual smile was formed on his lips, although wavering slightly-
"He's in a better place now, i'm sure of it. And wherever he is, i'm sure he won't need this necklace any longer, i think my son would be happy for ye' to have it, as you've shown such profession in huntin'!" Baldrum smiled at Kaito.
Kaito looked at Baldrum and gave a gentle smile "Thank you, i will put it to good use and wear it with pride"
Kaito picked up the necklace to look at it.
