Picnic(2)

Nathaniel's POV

"So, what do you want to do now? We're having a picnic already" I looked at the gorgeous brunette sitting opposite me, while scooping huge bites of the cake.

"Hmm, very delicious, why don't you try some, Chris", she raised a scoop to feed me, "here, say aaah", ignoring the question I asked her.

This girl can really be bossy, but she also has her super cute side.

When she saw that I didn't open my mouth and I was just staring at her, she dropped the fork, and looked at me, "Ok, I don't know, I just felt we should come out, because the air in the house felt so stiff, and I needed something fun"

"Then, why don't you move to another place?". I thought. She was more than rich enough to buy even a hundred buildings, if she wanted to.

"I can't leave my aunt alone, and this place has lots of memories that I'll continue to cherish all my life.

Ooh, wait...Did i ask that out loud, I asked with questioning eyes.

"Um...Yes", she said like it wasn't a big deal.

She might seem like the luckiest woman in the world, but she also has her fears and worries.

"So, how about truth or dare?" That was the only game I could think of.

"Ok, it's good, but first I want something else" she said with a smile that could melt even the strongest ice

Something else, no problemo

"So, what's the something else?, thankful that she had something to distract her from past memories, but my smile faltered when I heard what the something else was

"Your past, your childhood, everything about your past, but that is if you don't mind" she looked at my face, searching for any hesitations. But I was quick to lit my face up again.

"My past?, there's no much story to tell. My family is well to do, and I have two elder brothers. My eldest brother Michael, is concerned with the family business, but my second eldest brother Daniel just lives his life without care, travelling and having fun, all over the world, often getting into trouble with dad, but... he's still my favourite brother. " I said, remembering how he still ruffles my hair, and buys stuffs when he's in the country, forgetting that I'm now 26, not a 6-year old sickboy.

Coming back to reality, I smiled when I saw Dawn lying down on her stomach, staring at me, with her face resting in her palms.

"I'm really a boring storyteller, aren't I?". I asked her, thinking she'll say I should stop

Then she gave me an opposite reply "I don't know yet, so continue"

So I had no choice than to continue

"I was not really healthy as a child, so I was always in and out of the hospital, but I started seeing myself as being healthy, when I met my first crush, and maybe my still long-lasting crush"

"Your first crush?" Dawn asked, and it was like I heard jealousy in her voice, or maybe I was just hearing things.

"Yes, my first crush".

"Tell me about her", she demanded

"No problem"

******12 years ago,

In the garden of a majestic villa,  a woman kept running after her son, "Come back here, Nathaniel, you know you're not strong enough to run, come back right now".

"Mum, can I step out for a bit, just by the lake, please. I promise I won't stay long, please?"

"Okay, no problem, but please don't stay long"

"Yes mum", and off he went to the lake by the villa. Some days ago he noticed a pretty girl had been coming to the lake every night, so he wanted to know who she was.

Barely minutes later after he reached there, the girl came and sat down beside him without saying anything. They just sat there looking at the lake, without saying a word.

"Do you also get refreshed by just staring at the lake" The girl broke the silence.

Surprised by her sudden question, he began to stutter, " i-i, um y-yes". Then he asked for her name.

"You can just call me Dee, and I don't want to know your name now, because it won't make sense if we knew each others' name and we don't meet again". She said like she knew he wanted to introduce himself.

He really liked her bold attitude"Wow, I like you already. So if we meet tomorrow, you'll tell me your name, and I can tell you mine. Is that right?

"Yeah, although I can't really say it's a promise"

"No problem. Well I promise. I'll make it here tomorrow. But I really have to go now. See you tomorrow".

"See you, and you look pretty with your glasses".

"Pretty?... I'm sure you meant to say handsome right?"

"Whatever..."
