Chapter 99: Orion

Monday. Safe House. London, UK.

ORION PACED THE LIVING room of the flat. The others were still asleep. He'd promised to wake them if there were any changes, if anything at all happened.

The horizon was a pale gray color.

Jennifer should have texted, called, something.

He knew they shouldn't have sent her back. He just knew it.

Something was wrong.

At first, everything had seemed fine. Not long after she'd gone into the gallery building, Zain had reached out to say he'd gotten access to a machine on Uwe's network and would have more later. Orion and the others had settled in to wait.

Jennifer hadn't contacted them.

The hours had passed.

Zain provided regular updates while there was still radio silence from Jennifer.

Feet shuffled on the wood, getting closer.

Orion didn't glance away from the windows.

"Good grief, what time is it?" Lumen's voice was still heavy with sleep. She wasn't much of a morning person. "Have you been awake all night?"
