Chapter 100: Orion

Orion opened the door farther and drew his gun. It would be ideal if everything happened without having to fire a shot, but the reality was that things wouldn't likely happen without some sort of fight.

The doorway was partially hidden by a deep row of shelves. He let the door open the rest of the way and edged into the space.

From here, he could see straight ahead into the back of the dark gallery. There was a wall of painted brick that fell into shadow. On the left were stairs that led above.

Orion did the math. The building wasn't that wide. Given how much space was to the left, that meant there was only twenty or so feet of space on the other side. The four or so men wouldn't have a lot of space to fight in.

Once more Orion held up his hand, then four fingers, three, two, one...

He sensed more than saw the other three move with him.

He took a step forward and suddenly the others were there, spreading out on either side.
